Love this song and the entire album. Early Van Halen songs were out of this world. I was in 5th grade when VHII came out and heard it playing at a friend's house one day. This was at a time when disco ruled the airwaves. My folks would not let me buy any VH records because they were too loud and "obscene". So, I just went to my friend's house a couple of houses away and we cranked some VH. His entire house vibrated. Ten years later, I bought the CDs. The best purchases I ever made.

They don't build bands like this anymore. I got this album from K-Mart when I was 14.

Alex Van Halen is underrated as hell.

He really is. He is amazing and unique, but seldom comes up in discussions about drummers. The AVH groove is one of the baddest ass things in music!

1:49 - that two-note drum fill in that little empty space right in the middle of blazing fury ... *that* is the one-of-a-kind Van Halen musical sense of humor. It's the VHII version of bop ba da, shoobie doo wah ... totally unexpected, totally WTF, totally grinnin' when you hear it.

Edward and Dave usually get most of the attention, but to me, it's really Alex that stands out on this track.

I would really appreciate it Alex would put a dvd and demonstrate all beats and fills off every album.

Van Halen blew me away when their first album came out. I was 15. My friends and I played it over and over again. Their music was not only badass but they were fun. David Lee Roth can scream at a higher pitch than I even at 15, and I am a soprano singer.

It has a very ingenious rhythm.

Two words. Michael Anthony. He sets the Funk like concrete to this song. The most modest, mediating, and magical motherfucker of 'em all, he made Van Halen. Alex can set a wickedass beat like the best of NBA Champions, but Michael sets that rhythm that Dave loves and Eddie follows.

I was never into songs that get radio play, but I got the 45 of Dance the Night Away when I was about 12 or 13yrs old. I mean, the song was cool because it was Van Halen and all, but this song was on the flip side and it blew me away. I had no idea what it was at the time, but it started the soundtrack of my teen years!

Guitar solo is only from Eddie's brain, I love Steve Vai, but he would have never phrased it, pkayed it or made it so tasty as VH.

Roths voice is a unique instrument in itself. Hagar had nothing on him.

Man, this song is untouchable. Everyone kept it tight on their instruments. Daves falsetto screams are brilliant, at the right spots of the song. Alex drums are busy and complicated with an awesome beat. Eddie is dangerous on this track. You can hear the power as everyone feeds off each others energy. Mikes vocals and bass are perfect.
This is a fuckin band right here at their absolute best. Show me a band now that has the balls like this one....I dare you
