Bottom line anyone who believes that all the Hagar era Van Halen tunes, tours and albums were not relevant and kick ass is either still wearing a mullet, sleeve cut shirts and driving a 79 camaro or all three. And this is coming from someone who freaking loved the Roth era jams. I'll put those up against anything. But, the Sammy era stuff was a different vibe, it worked for the time, Eddie could write music that Hagar could actully be melodic and hook with and still rock! All those albums were number 1 for a reason, that and winning a grammy does not just happen. That era was fucking legit, in the pocket and tight. Check out live from Tokyo dome 1988 HOLY FUCKING SHIT! My rock brothers and sisters we will never see any band like we saw with Van Halen and let me also add AC/DC who replaced the original LS who were awesome and got even bigger. This is some great music. Lets see Sammy back with Mike and the VH boys for one last round. WAITRESS!

FUCK was a great album. Balance continued it. Because Eddie couldn't control Sammy, he decides to tell him off. Too bad Alex didn't step in and control his brother but Alex won't take a crap without permission. Then it was downhill for 9 yrs.

I agree with you guys that Sammy was absolutely a great frontman as in the sense that he was energetic and could sing and make it sound just like right off the album and studio recorded version of the songs. But David Lee Roth was probably 3 times more hyped up during his shows and did some pretty crazy shit and told really great stories throughout the shows and it would still be entertaining and would mix well because Eddie and Alex Van Halen along with Michael Anthony rockin' out in the background while David still had the screams in his voice back then. Now....David just sounds really hoarse when tries at all to sing and he doesn't have the screams in his voice anymore at all so it doesn't mix near as well as it use to.............
