Van Halen - It's About Time Lyrics
Time
(time, time, time, time)
Last Time
Wrong time
Out of line
But this time's our time
Right On
We'll let it shine
(Get Up)
Turn your clock back
Paint it red on black
Bring it all right back
Oh hell yeah
Alright
Hey hey hey
You can spend my money
Don't you waste my time
(my time, prime time)
Well right now makin up for lost time yeah
Alright! Alright!
I think it's high time we laid it out there on the line
Now it's about time
It's about time
It's about time
Yeah
Bright lights
Old Fights
This time we got it right
(yeah)
It's been a long time, overtime
Second flash, you're out of sight
(yeah so get up)
Turn your, your clock back
Paint it red on black
Get it all right back
Oh Hell yeah yeah
Come on
It's alright
Hey hey hey
You can spend my money
Don't you waste my time
(my time, prime time)
Well I'm about to make it up to you big time
Big, big, big, big time
Well it's about time we laid it out there on the line
It's about time
It's about time
It's a just about time
Just about time yeah
Time
Time
It's alright
Yeah
Spend my money
Don't waste my time
(my time, prime time)
Yeah we're gonna make it up to ya big time
Big, time big time
Because it's high time we laid it out there on the line
It's about time
It's about time
It's about time
It's just about time
It's about time
It's about time
It's all about
Talk about
Wanna know
There ain't no doubt
It's about time
Yeah yeah yeah
So go ahead
turn your clocks back

Van Halen It's About Time Comments
Yup - solid VH
Dave had different tones of his voice.
Sammy always the same.
This is maybe the best song with Sammy. IMO
NO. But it's a good song.
A bit of reverb could’ve gone a long way here
Best song since Human's Being. Why did they break up again after recording this?
Because EVH is an egotistical maniac. Still my guitar hero though.
they should have recorded a complete new album by then, they were on fire!!! This song kicks major ass!
Read Sammy’s memoir Red.
It’s lucky they got three new tracks out.
Eddie was a mess.
One of vh best songs, the naysayers just don't understand great music when they hear it, hail Sammy n Mike!
Man, the rhythm guitar... classic Eddie.
AHH,...5150....MUSIC TO MY EARS. 0U812...HA.HA.HA
HARD SOUND. SOUNDS LIKE FAIR WARNING ALBUM.
I tought This was korn at first
I think this song kicks ass! I pretty much think all of Sammy with VH kicks ass! Who’s listening in 2018!
2:29 my fav part, awesome riff.
Van Hagar going nu-metal = pathetic
This song was released right after the Gary Cherone years when Ric Flair became the new lead vocalist.
Raw brutal mojo musically. Very dark and heavy and punchy and then Sam kinda brings it out of the minor chords into the major chords and kinda takes the wind out of the sails. Almost makes it too poppy. I liked it but it should have stayed dark and heavy and minor-chord-laden. Dave would have gone much darker with this, vocally and lyrically, I can't help but think.
Solid song
Who wrote this Bullshit
The last good Van Halen song.
This one and "Up for Breakfast" probably match up to some of the better tracks on any Van Hagar album. They must've been inspired, working together again. Or something.
I like this song as much as any of my other absolute favorite VH songs. This song is stuck in my head.
Eddie showin us he can Vai it!
Ziggyzag Zi Vai is far and beyond EVH. And I get it...no EVH there's no Steve Vai. But if there was no Bach there's no Mozart and then no Beethoven, no Gershwin, no Bill Haley no Elvis no VH
uh..... Elvis and VH have little in common.
Lay of the drugs.... Vai is nothing but a guitar wanker also. He never fronted a long and successful band like VH.
Please, dude. There's absolutely no way Eddie could hang with Vai, music-wise or technique-wise. Eddie's great, but he'd get annihilated in that duel. As for Vai, he has long fronted his own successful band and career. Eddie can't even front the band that bears his own name. Bad decision after bad decision.
Vai’s least complicated song Eddie can’t touch. I say this as a HUGE VH fan.
I dunno if it's me, but Hagar sings with too much of a country accent or somethin on these latest tunes. It's only ever bothered me on the 3 best of tracks.
kitramsey5150 you high or something?
SuperGaleford no, maybe it's not an accent, maybe it's his voice and it's just changed as he got older. Something about how he sings on these tracks that seemed off to me.
This is and VH3 is when Eddies tone started to really sound bad and thin/buzzy in the higher register. It really lost that nice polished sound from the Carnal Knowledge and Balance era. You hear it a lot now too when he hits his pinch harmonics especially. It just lost that magic.
Good ear my friend, the Carnal Knowledge and Balance tone was developed with an ''Eventide harmonizer H3000 D/SE'', ''wet/dry/wet'' set up , .. I totally agree with you, he should've never lost that sound, IMO..
It might be the production on the new tracks.
I think it's actually Because he was using he the sustainer neck pickup a lot during this time and it makes those
Intro harmonics really have distinct overtones
I downloaded this single from Wal-Mart music (yes, Wal-Mart) shortly after I got my Mach 1 Mustang in 2004. I've since sold the car, but remember the righteous feeling I got when blasting this song over that car's speakers while driving slightly over the speed limit ;)
Hahaha! Slightly over the speed limit! Lol
This is definitely a really good song. Eddie's guitar sounds more like a heavier rock in the new songs on the Best of Both Worlds album
Daniel A. I stole it from there
Same thing with me and my 2004 Chevy Silverado, which was my grandpas love this song bro
Sammy sounds much better and he seems to be enjoying himself much better with Chickenfoot. I hope VH keeps on going as well.
wow. I don't know what to say.
Los coros son de Steve Lukather (TOTO)
+ALEX RISI damn right. This one and "Learning To See"
Very underrated song. This rocks and is one of Sammy's best efforts.
Well how come you didn't right it then? If a high school kid could've written then how come you didn't right before him then??! Huh? That's what I thought.
I wrote all songs to 5150, and I was only 16.
So there! BAM! you got owned! I win! I own your soul! WHAM! BAM!
Theuniverse Isaniceplace I'm sure that Eddie was the main songwriter for most of Van Halen's career. The rest of the personnel from VH are just credited to the songs.
@Theuniverse Isaniceplace The lyrics are fine. They're easy to sing along to and they fit the song well.
The lack of mastering makes the different takes and edits stand out way more, particularly the backing vocals. It feels cobbled together, when previously the band made it appear seamless. You'll also notice Eddie switches between Drop-D and Standard tuning depending on the verse or chorus, thanks to the D-Tuna bridge mod he patented. A novel idea, but it makes the track even more of a mess.
I cant hear nothing in this track
i can only handle 2 0r 3 Vanhagar songs at a time, IF vocals are included...
man i forgot how bad this song was
I actually like this song. Paint it red on black!
the guitar sounds like" Beat It"
+lithiumlounge I thought that too !
Well Eddie did the guitar solo for "Beat It" as well. The album note sleeves for _Thriller_ credit Eddie Van Halen for the guitar solo on "Beat It".
I heard that too a touch of several tunes..
what is this crap? sounds like Sammy hurried these songs and then split.
Wrong! This song, "Up for Breakfast," and "Learning to See" were recorded specifically for the band's double disc anthology album "Best of Both Worlds." Haggar briefly reunited with the band to do a tour playing mostly songs from the Van Haggar era at the time of this album's release.
lithiumlounge Don't blame Sammy for the compressed sound of this (decent, to me) track. Eddie Van Halen produced the 3 new tracks.
Eddie did this
I really like Up For Breakfast.
Hagar's lyrics and melodies just suck..DLR blows him away. No question. A 10 year old wrote these lyrics..
Anthony Bresnen yes cuz Tattoo and Jump were so profound.
Apparently you never listened to A Different Kind of Truth 😆
Roth's vocals on most Van Halen songs, are crude - musically, his voice cannot compare to Sammy Hagar's - he is a wailer, not a singer
Roth is rock n roll. Rock n roll is supposed to be raw, at least it used to be...
@SilverBane Yes, everyone wants raw rock, not well produced stuff. That worked really well on VH III you know. Thats about as "Raw" in sound as it gets haha
is this worse than tattoo??
I'd say take your pick
man this is really whipped up..
2:50-3:11 is Inter-Galactic language
Sound's even better with Mike on bass.
dyno1316 hate to break it to U but the three songs on best of were Eddie playing bass. Mike didn't play on those
honestly, i dont see why so many ppl give a shitfuck fest about who's behind the mic in van halen...ive always listened for eddie's axe, thats all that matters to me. ...they could be singing that winnie the pooh got his weinie stuck in a honey pot for I really care.
A lot of good that did, huh? Roth's voice isn't even close to sounding as good as he used to.
And TBH, this is one my favorite Hagar-VH songs. Sure, it may not be the VH I'm used to, but hey, it makes me rock out anyway.
You forgot Right Now, probably the biggest song in the VanHaggar era.
2:42 eddie is whispering thru a vocoder: "heeeyy mike,,.and sam...dave will soon be back, so scram!!"
Never noticed that until you pointed it out. Interesting tidbit for sure
@VanHalenUSA no, it was valerie bertinelli on bass. that bitch can play one mean bass axe.
@Axeshredder you are nothing more than a rude condescending shit smear.
@Axeshredder fuck you and die.
@Axeshredder You are pretty stupid dude! You are over your head!
Oh dear god soon as Sammy started singing I remember the reason why i hated it the first time I heard it. The band sounded good though to bad Sammy ruined it!
@axeshredder...blow me, it will better than any new rock music coming out today...DLR & Eddie still sound great together and you are damn right I will spend money and support VH!
Did you just say DLR sounds great?
this isnt the Van Halen we all know and love, but you have to admit, its still a pretty good song!
alot of haters posting smack. if you dont like the music then go listen to something else. Leave my van halen alone.
This song sucks...the new album will kick this crap's ass
Marc Mann guess what. it didn't 😆
this song would sound good live
I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree, t3hPoundcake
I was just glad to get some new music out of VH after 6 years of nothing. VH is MONSTER w/ Hagar. I wish Gary got a fairer shot & run. ROTH SUCKS !!
This track is cool! but the problem was the producer was scared to tell eddie van halen it needed to be mastered...its too loose man. Its too busy to listen too
Well mixed a hell of a lot better than VH III lol. That album sounds like a bootleg lol
@cjs7dust Really? Works fine on mine...
ed cut out / reduced mikes bass. mikes bass sound had been changed since fair warning.
Heavy? Wrong.
Why is it that some of the last songs recorded with Sammy (Humans Being, It's about Time) are some of the hardest rocking ones?
@Thrashfan21 he was in the band but eddie played the bass for the 3 new songs on this album.
You have Eddie on bass instead of Michael Anthony(who was still with the band when this was recorded)
Why didnt they keep Sammy man. He could still actually sing unlike Dave, their new studio album is going to suck so bad. What a mistake.
SO DAMN HEAVY, Best ever, Fell in love with this song 4 years ago, found it again this day
