Van Halen - Happy Trails Lyrics
Mmmnnnnmmmmmm dup dup mmmnnnnmmmmm
Bom-ba-dee-da-Bom-ba-dee-da
Happy Trails to you,
Until we meet again,
Happy trails to you,
Who (Oooh) cares about the clouds when we're together
Just (Aaah) sing a song an' think bout sunny weather
...two...three
Happy Trails to you,
Til we meet again

Van Halen Happy Trails Comments
For those that don't know, this song is originally from the Roy Rogers Show
They had this song in jukeboxes at 2 nightclubs I played at. During break someone at both places would put in about 5 or 6 quarters and play the song back to back. One club got enoigh of it and took it out of the Jukebox. LOL
Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you, till we meet again.
Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.
Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you, till we meet again.
Stupidest song ever.
Only Van Halen can put a silly acapella song and a jazz tune in the same album and get away with it.
I know this was done as a joke, but it really pissed off the hardcore metalheads in my middle school. Just like the sissy guitar solo in "We're not gonna take it" by Twisted Sister. These things all make sense now, but c'mon Guys, you were dealing with KIDS!
What else do you play for the last sing? Hello, hello? Dummy
This is our closing song at the bar I work at, my new favourite!
Last song on side 2 on the album ...
I loooove this
That's right
Anyone remember this skit on Full House?
The most played song at closing time at the Portage Bar (at least for the years I was there!!).
overextended wino
love it
Almost 10 years
Very ironic in classic VH style !
They'd play this song when the bar would close up back in the day
bomba dida :-)
My stepdad would go around the house singing or humming that
So funny!
This is the heaviest, loudest, hard rock song Van Halen ever recorded! No doubt!
Who’s here in 2018? I have loved this since I was in high school waaaay back in the 80s!
I got a kick out of the fact that sometimes VH would do silly things like this or keep a mistake in a song. It made them seem so free and loose.
😂👍
Does Alex sing on this?
Back in the 80's I used to go to this great rock bar in Lighthouse Point FL and they always ended the night with this song, it was perfect.
BAADEEDABUM
met Roth in 1982 a real jerk
Details please
I heard he was then, but I'm sure he has changed a lot
Details?
yes this is nasheds song for anyone wondering
RIP, Hastings
Grant Wallace R.I.P Sports Authority and Saturday Matinee. Even Toys R Us.
Perfect song to end Power Morphicon in August.
Trolls everywhere....and 25 miserable Justin Beiber fans.....
all well-oiled :-)
We have all of the VH albums with DLR, then a few decent tracks with Van Hagar, and that's it. that's the best of VH. A different kind of truth is quite good, considering the time that's passed, but no one should expect them to be as good--or at least the same kind of good--that they achived back then. I'd say the current VH is as good as they can be.
They are just is good and Eddie is even better now same with alex Dave just needs to get his voice back its definitely gotten Better since 07
My dad just visited my hometown of Henderson, NV. It was the first time I saw him in three and a half years. On the day he left back for Connecticut, I brought Diver Down so we could listen to this and "The Full Bug." This, we decided, would be the last song we played; just as a little kiss-off. This song now has a new meaning to me, and I tear up every time I hear it or think about it...
+Darren Plateroti sweet! that's what great music is here for, so it can be the soundtrack to certain moments of our lives. those early VH albums are certainly playing in my head when I recall my childhoood and adolescence.
I forgot that nv was Nevada I had to read it several times because of new Vegas
If possible see your Dad more often. Over 3 years is too long. I wish you the best my fellow rock-and-roll fan. I don't know you- you don't know me I, but I hope all is well. You and your Dad obviously love each other......Rock On!
This was done as a joke at the end of the LP. Do people really think Van Halen put this on the end of an album as a serious song? They all used to sing this at the front of the stage at the end of their concert's.
Early Van Halen was all about having fun, Dave was always the one with the wicked sense of humour. He never took himself too seriously.
even as a joke this is still awesome
They are laughing at the end. Anybody who would think this was serious is quite possible the dumbest fuck on planet Earth.
cooky monster
Who really cares if someone took it seriously?
😅🤣🤓😎🥳👀👀👀👀
I'd have to think several bottles of booze were consumed before this came about.
ボンバディーラ♪ぼんばでぃーら♪ボンバディーラ♪ぼんばでぃーら♪でぃーらでぃーら♪♪
He was up there acting like "Hey everybody its me Dave" I dont exactly know how to put it but the shit he was doing made me feel like throwing eggs at him!! That was right before they fired his ass! It wasnt too much of a surprise to me when they did! Its too bad cuz the first time I saw them they blew me away! I guess he got too much pussy and too much money in such a short period of time and he thought that the band couldnt go on with out him! I guess he looks like hell these days!
Its too damn bad that fame and fortune went to David Lee Roth`s head as badly as it did,Cuz when I saw Van Halen in I think it was 78 I could be wrong and it might have been 77 he was all about purting on a good show and then when I saw them in the early 80s when they did the concert with Hot for teacher they still jammed but there was a different feel to the show it was like David Lee Roth was soooo into himself that it was kind of sickening! It was like he was up there acting like "Hey every
Still the greatest rock band
I like rocks.
Nicks Corsair S1 Tips After Sabbath:)
What the EFF was that!?!?!?!?
@76RSLT That was Van Halen singing Happy Trails.
+76RSLT This is a cover of Roy Roger's song Happy Trails which he recorded with his wife. A very fun upbeat song.
That, was a good song
uh ohhh!!!
sorry...I borrowed my hubbys laptop....
You do realize this was originally sung by Roy Rogers, correct?
Lol, this is a great cover. Van Halen rocks!
I remember they played this song at the end of the Heavy Metal radio program, 'power chords', which was broadcasted every Saturday night from 12:00am to 3:00am, out of Ottawa's (Canada) rock radio station CHEZ 106. I thought it was great, being allowed to stay up so late (I was about 12-13), to listen to all the new Metal that was coming out at the time. Oh, the memories...
That's how I was introduced to this song too. Do you remember the DJ's name?
I saw this one done live by the boys. They all had a quart of JD, and they all took huge swipes of their bottles, prior to singing this one. Ah, the memories. Thanks for posting this.
This song was written by Dale Evans Rogers in 1952. Big Bad Bill is even older having been written in 1924 by Milton Ager and Jack Yellen. Yes, VH recorded them, but they didn't create them the way they did the hard rock that is the bands hallmark.
hahahaha
Anyone got a tab for this?
Ehhhhummmmmmnnnmm.... Dipppy-BoooommmnnNaaayyy....
Actually that was the influence of Diamond Dave. Albeit Hagar's "Can't Drive 55" was also humorous, but it was Lee Roth who put the funny into Van Halen, the rest of the band were not exactly well endowed in the comedic content of anything they did. Especially the way they treated David Lee Roth. Not funny.
I think that "I Can't Drive 55" was from Sammy Hagar's solo career.
6 people are on an unhappy trail
couldn't get it out of my head, so i listened to it a hundred thousand times
GoodMorning. GooDAfternoon. GooDMorning.
GoodDay Mate.
Love. Prayers. & Blessings.

apparently 6 people found a way. my gues is they have no souls
Thats cool man awesome :)
My teacher has a tradition where he plays this at the end of every school year, and it was one awesome way to end the year.
How can this not put a smile on your face?
gg no re kk?
I always got a kick out of this when they played it at the bars at closing time. Great times.... great times indeed!
@SuperGaleford
That's ROY Rogers, you idiot!
@SuperGaleford Shure youre name in't SuperGaylord insted of Galeford?
@gdwme Dude,Ill be 44 in May.My first ever R@R show was VH in Johnson City,Tn on the Diver Down tour.I will never forget it.I never thought I would get to see them with Dave again.Now,I have brand new VH music that rocks,and tix for Greensboro april 21!Kinda makes me feel younger!Dave is insane,but freakin genius!Van Halen without him just wasnt right!I hope we get at least 1 more album from them...
i want this played right at the end of my funeral. whenever that may be.
This is what was gone after Dave left. Only he would have VH do this on an album. Its called a sense of humor. Its called not taking yourself so seriously, something that plagued the VanHag era. Self-serious power ballads. Eesh, that was never VH. For every Atomic Punk there was an Ice Cream Man, Happy Trails, Big Bad Bill...and now thankfully Stay Frosty!
And to think there are "dudes" that insist that this is a song that Van Halen wrote.... They weren't born when Roy n Dale sang this.
@atomicpunk48 not ALL of us
2012 is here! And happy trails to you!
This is just awesome.
How many hard rock bands could put this on an album? And we all loved it!
@niggafrom901... absolutely. They were never the same after David Lee left.
3 people arent traveling down the happy trail
Love Van Halen
My band is covering this for our live shows.
I love this. What a great way to end the album.
@Rorschachxx1985 I believe as the story goes that they were just goofing around in the sound studio one day when they did this. They weren't intending to put it on the album but did it as a joke.
@littleeddiemunster fair enough
i guess van halen didnt take this album that seriously when they made it
i could've never pictured van halen doing this type of song. but its still awesome!!
@niggafrom901 before van hagar
We had rock n roll nite at a local dance club in the mid to late eighties on Friday nights and this was always the last song played. Right before that was always 'Detroit Rock City'.
I love this version of the song. This was our graduation song in high school. We played it as we walked out with our diplomas in hand. It was great fun, but it pissed many of the adults off.
Shit, I remember getting pissed as a newt with my mates and all of us screaming this out in our flat in Townsville. Good to hear it again! Those were the days when you could get drunk, and the neighbours didnt give a shit and you could go to town blind rotten fucking drunk and party on till the dawn. End up with a wicked hangover alongside some horror in your bed. Ohh yeah those were the fucking days.
they've depleted the nectar that pollinates the bounty from within payback the loot
They always played this at the end of the nightly dances at the summer camp I went to.
um, nearly 30 years ago.
@SerchTV you dun goofed son!
lol well done.
@A1l2l2e2n4 I always found the humorous aspect of it enjoyable.
@Mechanized0
What I always considered silly is that Van Halen did this song. When I heard this song in high school (I'm dating myself, aren't I?), I kind of liked it ---and I was a HARD-CORE country music fan at the time.
Smiling snails leave....Happy Trails...
I lmao every time hear it yes it true VH! I saw them in Detroit in .......... wait for it...... 1984!!! Cobo Areana!!!
@niggafrom901 well dude!!!! even with sammy they still sounded good!!!!!!
I LOVE this song!!!!!! lol
@Mechanized0 i used this song to finish off the 1:06-ish left on a CD i burned the other day, was either that or a sound bite from the movie Friday - "You got Knocked the FUCK OUT!"
@globemaster68 Frankly, it's surprising that more individuals fail to understand this. Van Halen has always been about "cars, chicks, and good times," and of course humor. One only has to listen to a number of Van Halen's songs to hear the unending humorous antics of David Lee Roth.
Many consider this song rather silly. Indeed it is. However, it is all simply in fun; intended humor on the part of Van Halen.
@elvisdustin just like all vh.
@Teutonic1250
Yes; Alex as well...
lol wtf
you may not be interested the first play, but listen again and youll be hooked
