Van Halen - A Apolitical Blues Lyrics

Well my telephone was ringing and
they told me it was Chairman Mao
Well my telephone was ringing and
they told me it was Chairman Mao
You got to tell him anything 'cause
I just don't want to talk to him now
I have a apolitical blues and
it's the meanest blues of all
I have a apolitical blues and
it's the meanest blues of all
I don't care if you're John Wayne
I just don't want to take no calls
No calls

    Claudio Cavalcante on the drums

  2. A.... N....

This was surprisingly a good version. Sounds just like little feat. Almost

  3. g.... a....

Excelente banda ótimo álbum Boa música perfeita saudades dessa época 1988 eu tinha 18 anos de idade saudades desse tempo que não volta mais

  4. D.... ....

Eddie's no Llowel. He's great at what he does, but he's not a slide player.

    D.... ....

I didn't know that. I'm not much of a Van Halen fan. I guess Alex is a better guitar player than I would have thought.

  5. d.... r....

    Love it.

  6. D.... B....

Horrendous. I love VH, saw everyone of their tours with Sammy except for the reunion, had all the albums. This song is annoying AF.

  7. L.... A....

David lee Roth would have sing it better

    L.... A....

Maybe in 1988. In 2018 his singing days are over.

  8. S.... ....

I have always wondered if this is Sammy on slide guitar and EVH on piano cuz it certainly sounds like they're playing all on one track. I'm a huge VH fan and always loved this freakin song...yet I don't know.

    S.... ....

Eddie frequently played multiple instruments on studio tracks. Its probably all him.

  9. R.... F....

in good old Germany this Blues was also at Cassette and Vinyl

    Long live Lowell George!!!!!!!

  12. s.... h....

    awesome

  13. M.... S....

I find it heartening that VH actually recorded a Little Feat song.  It just shows what great musical taste the members have/had by covering it.  Of course, nobody can top Lowell and the Feat, but this version has it's own groove.

  14. o.... ....

Horrible version. These guys suck. Want to hear a great version listen to Little Feat with Mick Taylor. That will blow you away

    o.... ....

    Both versions are awesome.

Blues are not overrated, van Halen are

    1.... ....

19_MK_97 grammar is also not overrated. You should maybe learn some.

    1.... ....

Oh, Lord of Grammar, I am ever so sorry if I offended you. I do sincerely hope you can find it in your heart to forgive an oaf such as myself for all my sins against the Grammar Gods. Thank you. Van Halen still suck balls, though.

  16. 7.... ....

HELL YEAH ! COME ON "MUDDY" !!

  17. J.... A....

    Thank-you, I appreciate the info

  18. L.... ....

However, at least some cassette copies (and original vinyl LP) of the album don't include this song.

  19. K.... A....

I'm apolitical where it concerns lead singers, validity of blues, which detergent will get my whites whiter, or what guitar strings are better. Shut up and rock out.

  20. b.... ....

    AGREED !!

  21. J.... A....

WTF? This tune was not on my OU812 CD, was this a re-release?

    J.... A....

It was on my CD but not the vinyl.

  22. d.... ....

Blues are EXTREMELY over-rated, and not an amalgamation of songs, & inspirations, which came before it, but a cliche', damn-near exact clone of one single fucking song, which can be played, by anyone, in their sleep. All that being true, STILL better than today's noise, & Eddie was great, esp. when picking up a non-cheer leader guy,. like Sammy, who had talent & heart. Dave was a fucking cheerleader, attention whore, who got his, begging, year after year, after his stint didn't work long.

    d.... ....

Blues served the same purpose as any good dance music - and they served the song in the same way as Dylan's backing tracks did - acted as scene setters for the lyrics. It's f***ing hard to do the blues justice cos it's all about the phrasing. This is a 12 bar - but it's not blues. It is however, the best lyric on any Van Hagar track, and the last decent track they put out before 'Me Wise Magic', then before ADKOT...

    d.... ....

Pales in comparison to the Little Feat original.....
And as far as your opinion about the blues.... you're entitled but without the blues there'd be no rock and roll.....

    d.... ....

Though you're entitled to your own opinion, your comment is silly and ignorant.

  23. P.... ....

yeah, the version on Waiting For Columbus is a huge musical highlight. Van Halen being the kings of the cover version did a damn good job

  24. T.... ....

i have the cover when he died.i can feel a sense
