Valerie June - Pushin' Against A Stone Lyrics

Bleeding blazing hot
Hot as the sun
Fortune teller told a tale
Of things to be done
Been pushin' my weight
Up against a stone
And I believe to my soul
It's time to move on

There you go, there you go
Try to fill, all the space
In your hollow hearted soul
Carry on, carry on
Try to fill, all the space
Pushin' up against a stone

Dealin' on the devil's dime
And other people's time
Patient preacher told a tale
Of souls lost to be won
With all of the glory
With all of the fame
At the deepest shade
It's all colored the same

There you go, There you go
Try to fill, all the space
In your hollow hearted soul
Carry on, carry on
Try to fill, all the space
Pushin' up against a stone
Carry on, carry on
Try to fill, all the space
Pushin' up against a stone

Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah
I believe to my soul
Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah
I believe
Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah
In my hollow hearted soul
Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah
Pushin' up against a stone

Pushin' up against a stone
Pushin' up against a stone

She sounds a lot like Linda Womack of Womack and Womack. Check out the albulm Radio music man. Esp the cuts Night rider and Romeo and Juliet

Pushing against the stone is a reference to a Greek tail about a man who pushes a rock up a never ending hill till he gets to worn out and tired and the rock rolls down the hill.it's a metaphor for life when the rock falls down it represents death but yet for some reason I'm missing and can't comprehend honestly the man goes back down the hill and pushes the room know back up it even though he will fail (die)sooner or later as to say life is brutal and hard but worth it a d chooses to live again and again when pushing the rock back up the hill.to a degree understand the story but don't ever put someone down or say suicide is stupid.sometimes people are talked I to knowing their place ad

I'm drunk I fucked the comment up.but yeah some truth to the story but I don't people to be stupid about shit and think that they should except certain things or put others down in certain ways from the moral of an old Greek story which this song is touching on.

belle voix et guitare fuzz nous plonge dans une ambiance sucrée et acide comme les prods d'Isaac Hayes et une voix qui pourrait être de la Motown

Are you all crazy? The lyrics are great, but you shouldn't be allowed to be a famous singer if you can't sing. Her voice is horrendous. Have you heard her live?

  45. J.... L....

Ms. June has that unique vocal approach, timbre and sound that is reminiscent of why Billie Holiday was so popular. Valerie June is quite original and endlessly creative. Is she perfect? No, not at all -- but, that's part of the appeal. The tone, the way she makes it so compelling. If my memory serves me -- the late Minnie Ripperton (a former member of the Rotary Connection) was similar. Both ladies are wonderful at what they do and the fact that they are emulating no one -- is refreshing. I also like the guitar on this, fuzzy and sharp at the same time. But, Valerie's entire band is first rate. Look forward to more songs from Valerie.

  46. R.... L....
