Uriah Heep - I Wanna Be Free Lyrics

As I wake up every day with no new songs to play
Feeling like I ought to pack my bag and run
My imagination flies to some other sunny skies
Where I felt so good and everything was done
And my time was my own, and my heart felt so free. Come On!

I don't mind a little rain, but it doesn't seem the same
When the clouds shut out your beauty from my eyes
There's a storm inside my head and I know it doesn't lead
To a clearer a day when nobody will cry
I can't stand here alone, and I need to be free... Free!

So bring fire and bring steel for you know the way I feel
Bring a silver horse to carry me away
I'm no stranger, I'm a friend and my pain will never end,
'Til the world will let us live our lives as one
And our time is our own, and our hearts can be free.

I wanna be free, I wanna be free, I wanna be free, I wanna be free
I wanna be free, I wanna be free, I wanna be free, I wanna be free

1975 Wore out the 8 track cassette on a road trip to California

Always wondered what Mick Box though about the fact Ken Hensley took the writing credits here, when clearly the riff copies Box's from Gypsy.

As a diehard fan that attended many live shows when this lineup was in place I can say that Mick Box was one of the Best most cutting edge concert guitarists of that time, or ever! What you hear in these vids is not even close to the guitar work Mick did sliding thumb & fingers up & down the neck w/ major distortion while throwing it high into the air & catching it without missing a lick; he was simply amazing!

It wasn't until this 3rd album that America realized how good they were, I can say still, due to Mick's resilience, however those early years is what I miss, not to mention I'm not exactly a fan of Bernie's voice

  26. s.... ....

One of Hensley's earlier works. WOW! You'll carry this in your head for awhile. Ken credited Manfred Mann on the final Moog synquence, so apparently not all Hensley, here.

    s.... ....

Manfred played only in July Morning track, apparently, from:

Oh fucking A this is probably my fave song form the band that was the soundtrack to my LIFE in '71 to '74 ! Yes! I remember playing this song to the longest haired freak & his friend I knew in 11th grade (Larry Smith, my dear friend from Richland wherever you are)...& after they told me they were totally into Ravi Shankar I played this in my car volume at about 10 & at the glorious ending they just looked at me with eyes wide and said ..."WOW OMG Well...that ..."
