Urge Overkill - Dropout Lyrics

What's the matter with you?
You've been down all day
What happened to you
To make you feel that way?
Baby ain't that a shame when they call you those names
Dropping out from school
Guess it wasn't so cool
Everyone, everyone needs, some space to breathe
All the time we have been blind, so blind
Yeah we just couldn't see it,
Yeah you're too old to cry
Too young to die
What happens in the in between?
Don't you think its strange, things just change
Its just a burnt out town a burnt out scene
You've been a dropout ever since you've been seventeen
Lonely child when will you see?
You need to be free
Often times people they find
They're not blind
Yeah, they just don't see
Lonely child listen to me
Its just a burnt out town
Its just a one horse scene
Gotta get away, gotta get away, you got to
Hanging out in the parking lot at Dairy Queen
You've been a dropout ever since you've been seventeen
gotta get away, gotta get away, you got to..

¡¡¡Viva tú Aita Ana!!! ¿Acaso no lo ves? Todo el mundo necesitamos a alguien en quien apollarnos...
Disfruta de él mientras este vivo.

  8. Edward Temper

Great tune...such a cool observation about the lost and forgotten souls that fall thru the cracks that are scattered throughout our world. Getting trapped in our little fish bowls and the fear of losing whatever it is we think we have. Deep and heavy.

  9. China Rain

    comfort song

  10. Kristy Albert

Reminds me of My So-Called Life. Also of high school. I ordered this cd from BMG or Columbia House. I checked the mail late and was so happy. My little brother and I listened to it on repeat for the rest of the evening.

It's just a burned out town ,it's a burned out scene.

  23. Eqgilethan

If I remember correctly, it is the only song their drummer wrote... and he used a drum machine for the song! Odd... possibly verging on genius... in any case a great song!

    John Burns

He wrote this and 'The Mistake' from another great album 'Exit the Dragon'

  24. 33 RPM

I was only 15 years when I listened this song for the first time (1995)... What a memories!!

It´s so simple, so original, so sentimental, so deep, so beautiful... I could listen to it all day and I would never get tired. One of my favourite songs ever...

    shkarkokenge lol how it go

  51. C Money

This is a song about self reflection. The good the bad and the ugly. Is it about being an adult who does things they don't want to or about finding out about your inner landscape. The first brings acceptance the later rejection by the world. To weave them together so you can do what you love but also find worldly acceptance. Just my thoughts on a deep situation.

  73. pyenapple

Here's the story behind the song:
"'Dropout' was just a song that was sort of around in the studio during the recording of 'Saturation'. We'd play the loop over and over mainly to amuse ourselves. On the last day of mixing, I went in and put some vocals and acoustic guitar on it and that was sorta that. Nash said it sounded like 'space folk'." — Blackie O

When I saw them at LaLuna in Portland, OR in 1993, Blackie sang this one. Is it his voice on the record? Sounds more like Eddie. Anyway, awesome. Unbelievably perfect music with production to match.
