Urban, Keith - You're Not Alone Tonight Lyrics

We all drink to forget
Some of us more than most
When reality gets too real
And the fires of hell to close
But I'm here to let you know that
That you can make it through
If you believe that someone is watchin' over you

And call it an angel
Call it a muse
And call it karma that you've got comin' to you
What's the difference
What's in name
What matters most is never ever losin' faith
'Cause it's gonna be alright
You're not alone tonight

We all have our days
When nothing goes as planned
Not a soul in the world
Seems to understand
And for someone to talk to
You'd give anything
Well go on and cry out loud
'Cause someone's listenin'

Yeah, and call it an angel
Call it a muse
And call it karma that you've got comin' to you
What's the difference
What's in name
What matters most is never ever losin' faith
'Cause it's gonna be alright
You're not alone tonight

Keep your faith alive
You're not the only one

Yeah, and call it an angel
Call it a muse
Call it karma that you've got comin' to you
What's the difference
What's in name
What matters most is never ever losin' faith
Yeah, you're gonna be alright
You're not alone tonight

Oh you can cry if you want to, go on

every song that Keith has written and sung himself and the songs he does that someone else wrote just come across like he owns them anyways. he doesn't play guitar and sing because of just talent but the vocals and the guitar come from a very deep part of his heart and his soul. the combination provides the ears with a pleasure that just only he can give and in a way that makes the heart beat faster and as if it was for your ears only. what an artist!!!!!

So here I go.. Raw and real as it gets. This is breaking my heart because I've felt so alone almost my whole life. I started to drink at 14 to fit in and then at 15 I moved and got with the wrong group of people and ended up getting wasted out of my mind many times until someone I thought was my friend ripped me apart by taking my virginity by raped me when I was entoxicated and I went into flight mode because I didn't know what was happening to me but I absolutely knew it felt dirty and so very wrong. I was stiff as a board and sobbed but had no voice. My mom never told me about sex so that was how I found out about it and even after it happened I didn't know what was done to me. All I know is that I was completely in shock and was not able too process it till I woke sober the next morning and had this immense amount of horror, disgust, shame and overwhelming heart wrenching emotions that I couldn't share with anyone once I put 2 and 2 together. I thought because I wasn't able to speak and trust me I tried I deserved it but I believe subconsciously I knew that he was aware that I was sobbing and everyone knows a women crying in that type of situation is a sign of hurt or fear. The pain was so extreme and so unbearable that I wanted to crawl out of my skin I threw a carnival mirror across my room and picked up the shattered pieces and started to slice my wrist. Now mind you this was in 1985 when cutting didn't exist or was not talked about or at least I wasn't aware of what it was. I sat naked in the tub and cut as the blood flowed and the emotional pain began to subside. Shortly after several cuts my mother walked in and found me. I lied and sad I was scared of these bullies that wanted to hurt me and I wanted to leave that place immediately and I was flown to Chicagoland area to live with my dad. The abuse continued a handful of times by family friends, being slipped date rape drug in my drinks at bars and I couldn't cope with the pain. Several bad relationships were I was seeking a sense of safety from a man since I'd never knew how that truly felt outside of my brother when he was around. It was a vicious cycle that caused me to drink excessively and wake feeling as low as low can get. It was a snowball effect essentially. Depression, anxiety and complete lack of self love and plenty of self loathing. This went on and off for years. Then I lost my job in 2008 or 2009. All my adult life the only thing that gave me pride and self respect was how hard I tried to please my customers and reps. When I was fired I was in utter shock considering the daily abuse I had to deal with from certain individuals. I was completely shattered and I ran into a childhood friend and he got me going on cocaine. Then I was off to the races. I hated it but I loved the ability to numb my mind which numbed the mountains of pain I was carrying. It went on way to long and I'm a fighter with faith and pulled myself out of the depths of the darkness. I'm sure my substance abuse was a symptom of the underlying issue which was chronic abuse, unhealthy marriages, relationships and let's not forget the AA quote for us drinkers and druggers. People places and things. My story is different then so many others I've heard in the rooms of AA. If my story could help someone then I need to share it. I'm a very compassionate kind and empath lady and not sharing would only cause me more harm then good. I guess what I'm trying to get at is that I feel an amazingly strong connection to Keith and his music because the lyrics all, and I mean all of every song that I've heard of his touches and speaks too my heart and soul. I have a connection to him that I can't explain. I call it soulmates I'm sure he'd disagree 😂 but I'm serious. He thinks like me, hurts like me, struggled like me and speaks to me through his lyrics. If you haven't been through another person's trauma or the pain that comes from deep down at the core of your heart and soul you'll never be able to understand and certainly wouldn't be able to have the amount of unconditional love and understanding of them. Nor could you possibly make their hearts stop from aching because your words wouldn't speak to those shattered pieces and know the words and heartfelt gentleness that someone who has been there could. I know that to be true for people like him and myself that live deeply by the heart and hurt deeply from it too. I pray for him and his amazing heart. An I pray I find someone exactly like him one day and soon!

It's an amazing song, and It's like, I mean I feel like his songs can tell what I can't say but feel inside. I can find myself in his songs, they just understand me. This guy is such a gift from God. Without country music I'd be dead, I think. Country music help me get through hard times, loneliness, depression. After the deep part, his shirt in this video... man, it explains the whole cap-cat problem.

One of the biggest dreams I have is one day to have the chance to go to Nashville or wherever he sings and see him performing live. Why did Greece have to be so far from the States? :( Come 2 Greece Keith, you got many fans over here!

  31. M.... A....

it should encourage anyone to go and buy it, this is just a small slice of the best dvd ever

  32. d.... ....

@musicloverx66 Well, I'm a relatively new fan; a friend introduced me to his music in 2008. I understand what you mean about helping new fans discover older material, but this person made no attempt to cite the source so people could find it.

  33. m.... ....

@djinnj I have the Livin Right Now DVD and it's wonderful. I'm not sure how many new fans would be purchasing such an old DVD --- and I highly doubt this video would dissuade them. On the contrary, actually.

  34. d.... ....

Love the performance, but not so keen on the copyright infringement. This clip was pulled from the extras on the "Livin' Right Now" concert dvd. This is a sound check performance. That dvd is still in print, and totally worth its purchase price. A high energy performance with lots of great songs, and the production value of the dvd is very good. Well worth it for any fan.

    Fodastica essa musica! =D
