Four years ago this song became one of my favorites. Just a couple in this list btw. Now I can say it stays there and may last for long time.

this has always felt really melancholic as a two part song to me ... probably the melody and downbeat consistency it takes around the second half. like after the freewheeling of banstyle the melody starts to change, it dips out into sappy's curry, it feels more mournful. the lyrics at that stage turn into a list of traits and the phrase 'i think i found the real stuff'. strange lost hope

but I can't listen to Banstyle without listening to Sappy's Curry. It's now to the point where it's now a 15 minute masterpiece. Remove one part and it feels like you cut it off in the middle and have removed something from the song.

While it may not initially seem like these tracks have that much in common, the transition between them is godlike. The altering, two synth-chords of Banstyle suddenly getting a harmony that brings a more sombre mood, still neatly harmonizing with the two chords until they fade out, like the sun slowly setting, leaving the rather melancholic setpiece, until it's broken by the kickdrum. Just brilliant.

Every time I listen to this it takes me straight back to driving on the M3 out of London at night, hardly any other cars on the road, nice steady 80mph (I mean er 70 officer...) windows slightly open and cool summer night air as I head back down to the South West.

have spent nine years writing a novel, a hypnotic hyperactive Scottish mis-fable of self-help cut open on the thistle of self-hate and this band was the main driving force behind the pace of every scene, and all the jogs and night drives to stay sane in between. Thanks for the post. I had this on cassette during many lost moments in the reeperbahn, then on cd, now mp3 and here on youtube. Through all the technology, this band and this album continue to soar.
