Ugly Kid Joe - Father Lyrics
Beat me down, one more time
Words of love, hard to find
Gotta find my mother, she won't lie
Where the hell's my father
Farther, farther
Swimming in the water
One last time
Imagination cross my mind
I beat the bush, I beat the bush
Shove me down
Where the hell's my father
Farther, farther
You like to lie
Father, old man, can you find me
Father, old man, can you find me
Do you care
Father
You like to lie

Ugly Kid Joe Father Comments
My Dad was just like the Dad in this song and I did everything I could NOT to be like him and played with my son and took him to lots of places and events he liked. Now he's twenty four and doesn't want to know me. I just had to tell someone..
Little boy blew he needed the money
My high school English teacher, back in the 90s, would play this song on the guitar in class. Every time I hear it it takes me back her class and how much of an impact she made on me.

This song always used to make me cry 💔,, but now, I just thank my Heavenly Father. He's always there for me and always will be. His love is truly unconditional and pure. He waits patiently for you to call out to Him. He wants you to know His Son. 😇💕🙏🙏🙏
He is all our Father. Much love to you all.
These fellas should've ot more respect, I think anyway.

SVEICIENS NO ''KARNIŠA'' - NU I LĀB
. My child arrived just the other day;
Came to the world in the usually way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay.
He learned to walk while I was away.
He was talkin' 'fore I knew it.
And as he grew he said,
"I'm gonna be like you, Dad.
You know I'm gonna be like you."
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man on the moon.
"When you comin' home ?"
"Son, I don't know when.
We'll get together then.
You know we'll have a good time then."
Well, my son turned ten just the other day.
He said , "Thanks for the ball, Dad. Come on, let's play.
Could you teach me to throw ?" I said, "Not today.
I got a lot to do." He said, "That's okay."
And he walked away and he smiled and he said,
"You know,
I'm gonna be like him, yeah.
You know I'm gonna be like him."
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man on the moon.
"When you comin' home ?"
"Son, I don't know when.
We'll get together then.
You know we'll have a good time then."
Well, he came from college just the other day,
So much like a man I just had to say,
"I'm proud of you. Could you sit for a while ?"
He shook his head and he said with a smile,
"What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys.
See you later. Can I have them please ?"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man on the moon.
"When you comin' home ?"
"Son, I don't know when.
We'll get together then.
You know we'll have a good time then."
I've long since retired, my son's moved away.
I called him up just the other day.
"I'd like to see you, if you don't mind."
He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I could find the time.
You see my new job's a hassle and the kids have the flu,
But it's sure nice talkin' to you, Dad.
It's been sure nice talkin' to you."
And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me,
He'd grown up just like me.
My boy was just like me.
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man on the moon.
"When you comin' home ?"
"Son, I don't know when.
We'll get together then.
You know we'll have a good time then."

I'm sure Ugly Kid Joe did other tracks even half as much justice as they did this... that being said this is an amazing cover.
ivymike83 It would be amazing if you sing it right. Listen to the original and then listen to this.

@3.20 I cant stop crying.
Listening to this at work after doing 26 fucking 12-14 hour days straight, thinking about my boys, I quit that shit house job and have never looked back haha life's to short and precious to waste killing your self for a company that'll replace you in a heartbeat and never remember your name. Peace and love to all❤️
I'm 34 now and I've just come to the realization that I'm just like my dad. Not big on relationships and a secluded personality, but still a man who did regardless everything for his family. I know that you won't be around for long, but I want you to know that you grew up a son who has more possibilities in life than what you had. We don't know each other well, but I never questioned that you loved your sons and gave us the best life available. I love you always dad, even though people might not remember you as fondly as they should. You are a real fucking man!
No , no, no.
YEAH POP......JUST LIKE U....YA KNOW WE GET TOGETHER THEN SMOKE ALOT OF POT THEN..... TO MY HERO BEST FRIEND EVER IN LIFE....MY POPPA

Listening to this and so glad I didn't turn out like my dad. I'm a proud, hardworking father of 4 beautiful girls.

Cats In The Cradle"
My child arrived just the other day,
He came to the world in the usual way.
But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay.
He learned to walk while I was away.
And he was talking 'fore I knew it, and as he grew,
He'd say, "I'm gonna be like you, dad.
You know I'm gonna be like you."

Said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah.

Little boy blue and the man in the moon.

I remember this being on mtv everyday day in the early 90’s
Charly85 I was almost 16 when this song came out
Awesome,Cat Stevens sings this too!❤🎼😊
If I go back there for a month and you don't show up I'm gone
I played this song in many bands over the years, I’m 60 now and I can’t stop listening to it for many reasons. Take care folks. Parents are people that can do only so much the rest is up to you.
awesome sing
This songs makes me think of my dad, sometimes it's makes me happy, and sometimes it makes me cry.
This song makes me think of batman and most of the time it gers me excited.
This sucks 😂😂😂😂
Never in the history of nigadrum have i hurd som so superb
When I was 7, I remember my Dad pointing a shotgun in the window. Insanely mad at my mother. That midnight morning, my Mom took all 7 of her boys across country to love with grandma. 9 years later I leave home to where my dad had lived and passed, I met his friends and loved ones and they told me that was the worst day of his life when my mother took us. I love my mom but she deprived all of us a father. Will always hurt.
This song really hits me hard (any version) cause it so reminds me of my late father. Amen.
Sad song for me Dad never appreciated anything I did or tryed to do now its 2 late
I like it this the songs when listening night day....ugly kidjoe..cool
This is one of those songs that take me back instantly to the 90s. Its a nice place to remember when things weren't so complicated and I had a whole life in front of me.
This is my batman song.
so true:(
Great version I love it, but I prefer the original.
Modern Family moment 😆😆😆
I love how the chorus goes from
"When are you coming home?"
"Son, I don't know when."
To
"When are you coming home, Son?"
"I don't know when."
@Matt Actually, Harry Chapan's version has the lyrics: "when are you coming home, *dad* ?" "I don't know when." Joe changed it to be "son" consistently. My comment literally only applies to this cover.
@Brooklynn Laurick "And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
"When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when"
But we'll get together then, dad
You know we'll have a good time then" Exact chorus, nothing about the song is original, it's literally just a cover.
@Brooklynn Laurick Yes, and then the literal second half of the song changes to "son". Go listen to it. Also, it's ChapIN not ChapAN.
@Matt I _know_ it changes to "son" in the second half. That's irrelevant! I'm talking about the fact that (in the first chorus) Joe says "when are you coming home?" "Son, I don't know when" and keeps it consistent throughout the song, while Chapin changes from "dad" to "son" as the song progresses. What I liked was that replacing "dad" with "son" in the first chorus gave the same meaning in a different way. (Thanks for the correction, btw)
I lost my dad 8 yrs ago and im glad i spent good memories with him
