Tyler Childers - Bus Route Lyrics

This is where we dropped off the prettiest little girl
Same grade as me
Tried to kiss her once in the aisle of the bus
And she walked right over me
Face-down in the gum on the floor
I was hopin' that she'd change her mind
But I swear as she walked down the stairs
She didn't even wave goodbye
Didn't even wave goodbye

Ray Dixon didn't take no lip
He'd kick you right off the bus
Stop by your house on the way out of the holler
And tell your momma where you was
He didn't need no driver's aid
To keep a bunch of kids in line
All he needed was a glare in the mirror
And a paddle that he carved from pine
Blisterin' punk kids alive

This is where we dropped off the prettiest little girl
Same grade as me
I held onto hope for eight long years
And by the time that I turned sixteen
I wasn't awkward, I's a real smooth talker
With my very own pickup truck
I'd take her home and if her parents weren't around
She'd bring me in and give me some
Bring me in and give me some

Safe to say nowadays ol' Ray
Can't keep a route very long
And I'm glad the little girl's dad
Never found out what was goin' on
I know he'd kill me in a minute
And he wouldn't have left no trace
Hogs'll eat 'bout anything you give 'em
And they don't let nothin' go to waste
Don't let nothin' go to waste

This is where we dropped off the prettiest little girl
Same grade as me

  2. Zachary Rhoads

This art work is SATANIC AF!! Leviathan cross I the center, his hands are in the shape of baphomet

    Joey Gabbard

Zachary Rhoads man Tyler isn’t Satanic

  3. Johnathon Campbell

The original is a tune to dance to man

  4. Commonwealth Bear

He should fire his producer. The live versions of all these songs are SO much better than the recordings.

    Robbie Wilson

His producer is award winning Sturgill Simpson.... this album was perfectly produced. Live versions SHOULD BE different than studio versions. Gives you a reason to see them live.

  6. Brenda Norris

I felt the same when first heard House on Fire, but after hearing whole album I love it. Artist grow and change.

  7. Carl Ramsey

Now I might piss some folks off BUT if the truth hurts I ain't apologizing for it! Love the music, ain't heard a thang like it in a long time, from a new artist anyway. THAT SAID, when tix went on sale back in May for the Fillmore in Charlotte NC they were $43.50 presales. I looked last month, $103, just looked again...$193 FKN STUPID! THAT IS NOT FAN FRIENDLY PERIOD! & I'LL BET MONEY IT'S A HYPOTHETICAL LIBERAL THANG!Now for all you folks that just might get pissed @ the truth here it is...conservatives always get accused, by liberals, of being for the rich.....well, let me spell it out, who is Mr. Chikders associated with, @ least on this album?? BLEEDIN FKN HEART LIBTARD STURGILL SIMPSON'S ASS!

    Jessie Tripp

Wow the stupid is strong with this one.

    rom rom

So you, a conservative, are mad that capitalism is working the way it should? Sounds like you're begging for some socialism in this comment, sir.

  8. Ruandre Wessels

Thanks Tyler Child-hers. Your the shit!

  9. kellynga

Can't get enough of this album.  Love it!  My 12 year old son is hoping for TC tickets for Christmas in Atlanta.  He's ate up with his music.

  10. Jason Northrup

This entire album should have been recorded live at LR Briggs

  11. Jordan Stovall

This was one of my favorite songs leading up to the album, and I can't put into words how much of a mess this version is.

    Dante Rosales

I can. Its not. Its a studio version. Songs get stripped down live. And this is great regardless. It aint about fuckin coal mining but not all his songs gotta be about catching black lung and starvation. Its all a different sound but it works for him.

  12. André Tavares

Awesome country sound love this dude the is blowing up cheers dude hail the south

  13. Ezra Talley

Starting to think Sturgil undermining Tylers career with these overproduced tracks. Hope im wrong

    sean sales

Sturgill does the same thing with his own records. Maybe to a worse degree even

    Bill Johnson

I don’t think he’s undermining shit. Just like @seansales fella said. Sturgill’s latest album was a waaaay different. Tyler Childers and Sturgill still have a much better sound/lyrics than any of these cocksuckin bastards in modern day “country radio”. They’re a rare breed of the few that keep outlaw country and definition country music alive. If they go off the beaten path with a little different sound that’s not pop country sooo be it.

    Timothy Carr

I assume you know this dude, but check out some of the stuff Dave Cobb has produced.

    Commonwealth Bear

    Amen couldn’t agree more

    Jared Green

    @Timothy Carr Cobb is Gold!

  14. bigsexyTDI

I have to believe when ol Red was sitting there picking this one and writing the lyrics, at least one version of what they did rhymed with truck

  15. Joseph Dallaire

Stuart Duncan smoked this! When he plays nice and slow like this there's nothing like it. Oh yeah, TC killed it too.

  16. John Pinckard

I like the Original music much better. Sounds like it lost its soul.

    Deric' Anslum

...hard to catch lightning in a bottle...

  17. Tyler Poling

    Just jews harpin' away!

  18. Jack Ross

LR Briggs version for life! My only complaint about this album, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it! This version shouldn’t exist I’ll be honest. Tyler I love you and I’m routing for you to have mad success in your career of music!

  19. Lone Star Dude

Woke up this morning and my album is complete! It’s been on repeat since!

  20. Your Smurf

I love the new album cover. All calm right before he hits his herb.

  21. Dizzy

Im so glad this one is one the album but i was rlly hoping for Messed up kid 😣😍

    Beat Generation

huh? You thought messed up kid would be on this album?

    Dizzy

@Beat Generation um no i didn't but ever since i heard the song ive been prayin he'd put it on one of his albums

  22. Steve Norton

Not gonna be a popular opinion but I gotta say it, I love Tyler’s music and the amount of soul he pours into his songs but so far this new studio album, I’m just not digging it too much. While I’ll agree it’s better than most music out today but it just doesn’t sound like Tyler’s normal style. I hope the radio stations and mainstream money men aren’t getting their hooks in him.

    re4manonline

Oh they are, he sold out.

  23. Jared Worthington

    What the hell happened?

  24. John B

I like his early version. This is some hippy dippy shite.

  25. Tara G

For all of you who do not like the studio version just think of it this way...so many musical artists are a disappointment live. Tyler Childers sounds great either way. I prefer the live version-love that wail at the end of a note only he can do.

    Lori Kirchoff

Exactly right!  This sound will only expand his fan base and his live shows will still make all his fans who "knew him when" happy.

  26. Philip Bates

1:56-2:10 is fire! The entire track is hot!

  27. MoeDeLL

    Keep tellin them stories Tyler!!!

  28. Hollalina Izen

    Loving it! ❤️

  29. 37South

Acoustic over studio all day long for me! Sorry but these versions just seem watered down and the voice sounds different also.

    Matt Pike

@Doug Harlow you're probably right, but it doesn't make sense to me. Why is it that the better songs won't sell well on and album? I just don't get it

    Jerry Mcwilliams

    Its missing the rawness

    Monica Jean

@DougHarlow yikes...if you read my comment I was trying to go the show, but it’s sold out. I still might go and try and get a ticket anyway. He is exploring and expanding his base and good thing! I’d love to see him live, even if I’m not crazy about this album. Hope he sells out stadiums and places in far away countries also! That being said, I think the older stuff is better. Chill out dude..

    Amy D

Agree completely. Think I'll have to pass on buying this CD. These versions just aren't for me.

    scott maroney

do you suppose the energy from a live audience makes his voice different? I do

  30. Amanda Valentine

"I wasn't awkward, I was a real smooth talker, with my very own pick up truck" 😄

    Steve Pena

    Amanda Valentine haha

    lance long

Most relatable lines ive ever heard 😂

  31. mike williams

Best country artist in the last 10 years easy

    Jessie Tripp

I agree and I'm gonna ahead and say it....the absolute baddest mother fuker to ever hit a lick in my lifetime! I'm 43 years in and nothing has ever affected me like Tyler's music does in so many ways. Beyond grateful for this movement and super excited to see what the future holds with Tyler n the boys leading the way!!

  32. Kevin Noll

Hogs'll eat about anything you give em, nothing'll go to waste 🤣

    Gotta love the country life

  33. Oak mers

    That's right bro Aka oak

  34. Paul Thorpe

Wth is this? This album is something near a trainwreck.

    TMBfan

    It's not though.

  35. Jessie Tripp

    Awe blister!!

  36. trentonjedi

Another instant classic! Keep rockin Tyler!

  37. Mr. Yellowstrat

That album art is something else

    Logan Smith

Says a lot about the artist when they're album cover isn't just a photograph of them.

    G.E. Smith

@Logan Smith Mr. Jimbo Valnetine did all of the album art!

    Logan Smith

@G.E. Smith It was Tony Moore that did this piece

    G.E. Smith

@Logan Smith Oh hey! So it was! I thought Jimbo Valentine did all the work, seems he did the inside and Moore did the cover, great work by both fellas!

    Logan Smith

    @G.E. Smith Indeed

  38. OhLeahLRae

Love this songggg. You and Senora May need to do some songs on an album (: I love you two singing together.

    Brennan Stum

Heard them sing Ain't no Ash Will Burn?

    Ruff Justice

I was hoping for Jersey Giant... and Losing You. Annnnd Honest Work. And Middle Ground. And Rox 'N Relix. 💔

    OhLeahLRae

    @Ruff Justiceme too!

    Morgan Dutton

Ruff Justice was really shocked middle ground didn’t make the cut.

    OhLeahLRae

    @Morgan Dutton same!!!

  39. pattywack

Too fake for good ol tyler

  40. Manny Alexander

I wish it was more like the LR Baggs version but I'm impressed with the innovation! Keep er going TTC

    Ethan Weigand

I preferred the Rockabilly sound of the LR Baggs version myself.

  41. Chris Carr

Been waiting on this for a good while!!! So excited for this album. Love it so far!

  42. Dude Lets Fish

  45. Karl wilson

HELL YES!! Loving the music man! Loving it!!

  46. Brennan Stum

    Keeping outlaw alive.

  47. Shane tindall

With all due respect.. anything professionally recorded, takes away from when we heard it originally. It's way more restricted and reserved. Toned way down. Not a fan of anything on the new CD so far..
Would much rather watch live sessions of his songs

    TMBfan

Listen to his live sessions then.

    rico a

I like both, that saying I love his acoustic versions

    Garrett Zajicek

The food stamps are a damn good band behind Tyler. Gotta be able to appreciate all the details in the music, it adds so much more

    Shane tindall

@TMBfan Well what a delightful suggestion!

  48. Matt Keller

    Luke Quinlan

    christian sartin

@re4manonline More like Sturgill joined the chat...with Nashville locked in his challengers trunk

    Austin Burchwell

@re4manonline I mean, only trash artist albums sound the same. That's LITERALLY the point of putting out a new album LMAO

  54. Trevor Drish
