Tribe Called Quest, A The Donald Comments
Rest in peace Phipe
My parents and I were on a road trip when I heard this song for the first time. It came on, and my mom was like "Aw yeah, Tribe! You can't have a good road trip without any Tribe!" and cranked it all the way out. I sat in the back seat, secretly jamming out. I absolutely fell in love with the flow, the instrumentals, the lyrics-- Man it was awesome! I wrote down the name of the song and the band, and immediately listened to it as soon as I came home, and that folks, is the story of how I, at age 12, became a die-hard Tribe fan. I see a lot of parents in the comments either hoping to or influencing their children with Tribe's music, and I bet all of you 100% that you totally are. It absolutely mystifies me how people possibly COULDN'T be influenced by their music. Rest in power, Phife! And thanks very much to those of you who read my rant!
Shit, this is good. What a groovy beat.
Listening to Phife puts a smile on my face every time.
So much respect to fife dawg, to write a line like "who wanna spare? haha well, here i areeee. Orodox spitter or bring on a south paw" at that point in his life. The human spirit is very strong.
RIP Phife Dawg
Love it!!
Phife’s flow is wicked, no doubt. But Tip... man, he didn’t even take a breath.
I'm in love with that piano
I'm a huge quest fan.. I named my business after the group. My first company vehicle is also named after Bonita Apple bum. A Tribe Called Duke's Haul Away Services 😄😊
Intro like? hah sounds like they are bout to play vol.2 straight away. dope track this one, mister Donald
❤ This song is like my definition of Hip Hop #wow
One of the best final albums and the best outro to it. What a way to mark the end of a group of legends
Rip phife
Who is Donald Marshall ,Phyfe definitely mentions clones...........
best in the game . untouchable in the art
Album 3peated,...Nuff Ting!!!
one of the gayest rap groups
Why, are you here? Why did you come here just to say that?
Cause his uncle touched him when he was 4 years old and got away with it
lmao u got a reaction is that what u wanted?
Let's see your hip hop list. Probably as gay as that cock you took last night
Get the fuck outta here dumbass!
this song is amazing
What’s funny is that the media (the DNC) decided to paint Trump as a racist in order to try and win an election and the modern day slave plantation (the Democrat party) members repeated it like mindless sheep....so, this song about Phife is named THE DONALD....the guy that they protested against....who was NEVER called a racist before running against the DNC....BUT they SWEAR they’re “woke”...MORONS....but none of them protested when Obama was bombing Africans in Libya.
Slappin
@ 2.50 out is Some ILL Voodoo! Got Me In Trance
This Flow, AMAZING
right when i was about to give up on hip-hop i get reminded there is still love and passion about the music out there, rather than this wack shit with lame ass hooks and mumble shit.
My shit for the 2017....ATCQ always ahead of the class..RIP Malik!!!
ATCQ just shut the HIP HOP game down!! Always socially conscious, street and incredibly beautiful!! Album of my year!!
Respect the Trini man first! boom
Phifethe 5 footer hella ill!!!!!
this is the album of the year
album of the century
WHAT!!!
daam, Phife with that flow...
I really miss him
His flow on clap your hands is one of my favorites.
@Ghost omg me too!
@TORTEEDA Toad The beat is simple yet so hard and he treats it like that.
@Ghost yep. I really miss him. But at least we have this amazing music to listen to and remember him by right?
RIP Phife - miss you like a fat kid misses cake. ❣️❣️❣️❣️this album is straight fire - I love them since The Low End Theory (Dad influenced me early!)
Randa Ratliff I hope I did that for my daughter’s because I cranked Low End and Midnight Marauders endlessly in the car with my girls in the backseat
so fucking smooth. fucking needed this this year
Song is hot!!
Busts all Day!!!
is carlos santana doing the guitars?
jack white
Jack White from White Stripes fame.
i like how people think this song is about donald trump but it's actually about phife
becuase they said it is. http://radio.com/2016/11/10/a-tribe-called-quest-new-album-song-about-donald-trump/
ThreeD2004 no it's not... look up the lyrics
The song about Trump is we the people lol
The only thing on Donald Trump is probably in the 'Donald' cuts;-).
Whoever thinks that is an idiot. Look at the lyrics, clearly about Phife.
...and i still say Tip's lyrical portfolio has been highly overlooked, ridiculously underrated in the hip hop community! His name (as well as Black Thought's) needs more mentioning when talk bout "Top 5's" and/or some of the best to ever do it!
True Stuff dawg true stuff
haneef shaheed His production portfolio deserves more credit as well.
Black thoughts.
love this album. it's like they recorded it in 1991 and forgot to release it. absolutely incredible, I hope today's youth takes a listen to what real hip hop is
First Last take it easy with that race baiting brother
K J omg you are so right
this album is full skilled fat RAP shit and is killing the floor and the currently "rap" fuckin' easily <3 only the real mf's are still making music,wu tang, public enemy,beatnuts.....where are the holla holla ja rule shit cunts now??!!!exactly, this was sure at trendy overground shit like his sound
Peace
underrated statement
It would have been disappointing if it sounded like it was from 1991. The lyrics and beats sound modern which is what made it so good. Evolution
Collectively they are the last of their breed, think about it. They started with politics & deep licks about urban life. 25 years later - THEY'RE STILL RELAVENT & HARD AS HELL - Legends I love it all
Tribe head here....... this album is the truth!!!! #REALHIPHOP
I Grew Up On Tribe! Hip-Hop Heads Needed This Album, Perfect Timing! God Bless Phife Dawg! #RealHipHop
Hip Hop already died. Too late.
Bullshit. It lives underground.
song is ok, but way too much Busta on it.
Sir LaFleur There's no such thing as too much Busta Rhymes
thas what im talkin bout
Fo sho!
What does that even mean.
King Abijah gtfooh bro
Album of the year.
The Brighter Light Podcast...are you serious? This album is a classic? No way!!!! At best, it was decent but not classic material. So you're telling me this album is on the same classic level as "Low End Theory" and "Midnight Marauders"....better yet, their first four albums?
You crazy!!!!!
I'm absolutely saying that and so are two other people in this convo. What does that say about your opinion on this?
The Brighter Light Podcast...actually, you're the only one calling the album a classic, to me, when you use the word "classic" in relation to an album, you're putting it on the level of the great, groundbreaking hip-hop albums of all-time, and the album doesn't fit in that category. But guess what, that's just my humble opinion, just like yours and everyone else's, so what makes your opinion or anyone else's greater than mine? At the end of the day, I guess we'll agree to disagree.
I was going to say that, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I feel you will change your mind upon relistening some time though lol.
Its not a classic yet, too soon to say. definitely has potential to be tho, especially as their comeback album
