Tragically Hip, The Escape Is At Hand For The Travellin' Man Comments
Why, what did he do? And she chuckled.
i could never understand why this whole drum track wasnt just thump, thump thump repeat (on bass pedal)
Great song!! Love the Hip!!!
The beautiful sounds in the song remind me of my crush
this song haunts my heart. my mom called me one morning asked if i heard about gord, she told me she was sorry but Gord had passed away. she died 21 days later. Less than 4 months ago a close friend died of a heart attack, he was the biggest hip fan I know and people say that about me. Anywya,s this tune... i dont know how to describe it but i have fond memories of me and 2 of my buddies sitting on the roof early in the morning after everybody left and the party was over. We sat up there listened to this and just looked at the stars a million miles away. Those dam words dont describe it at all damit, i mean this song and many other Hip tunes move me deeply and now as the years have gone by songs now spark memories, memories more meaningful than I would have imagined. This cycle of life stuff sure is a rollercoaster. I miss you mom, i miss you gord, I miss you Daveyboy. I dont know anything about religion of if there is an after life but rip.
Spaghetti Monster hang in there, I believe in the spaghetti monster too. Love is the answer
I’m just here because it’s my fourth time in New York
Elements of Silversun Pickups... before they were a thing.
One of the many bands influenced by the tragically hip
This melody keeps coming back to me. Along with Gordon’s memory.. R.I.P
It blows my mind how underrated this band is. RIP Gord.
“All desires turn concrete” love that song.
And she chuckled
This music speaks to me? Me too
Miss you Gord.
I tried to learn all the guitar tracks on this LP
My fav. Hip LP
A true original. Never sold out. A true artist and a gentleman.
9 people don't know good music when they hear it.
amen stuck on stupid.lol
I love you all
a dream my wife and I fulfilled and ended to soon I'm so sorry
This is an amazing under-appreciated gem, from an underappreciated band. This song tho, so underrated
I looked up to the Gord above and said " Hey Man...thanks"
Escape Is at Hand for the Travellin’ Man
The Tragically Hip
It was our third time in New York
It was your fourth time in New York
We were fifth and sixth on the bill
We talk a little about our bands
Talk a little of our future plans
It's not like we were best friends
That number scheme comes back to me
In times beyond our heartbeat
We hung around 'til the final band called
"Escape Is At Hand For The Travellin' Man"
You yelled in my ear, this music speaks to me
They launched into, "Lonely From Rock 'n Roll"
Followed by, "They Checked Out An Hour Ago"
Closing with, "All Desires Turn Concrete"
Those melodies come back to me
Time beyond our heartbeat
I guess I'm too slow, yes, I'm too, yes, I'm too slow
But you said anytime of the day was fine
You said anytime of the night was also fine
I walked through your revolving door
Got no answer on the seventh floor
Elevator gave a low moan
The pigeons sagged the wire with their weight
Listening to the singing chambermaid
She sang, "They Checked Out An Hour Ago", and chuckled
Those melodies come back to me
Time beyond our heartbeat
I guess I'm too slow, yes, I'm too, yes, I'm too slow
But you said anytime of the day was fine
You said anytime of the night was also fine
Our heartbeat, our heartbeat, our heartbeat
Long conversation or idle chit chat
Maybe dive in or maybe hang back
Idle conversation or idle chit chat
Maybe dive in or maybe hang back
It was our third time in New York
It was your fourth time in New York
We were fifth and sixth on the bill
We talk a little about our bands
Talk a little of our future plans
It's not like we were best of friends
Why, what did we do?
That number scheme comes back to me
In times beyond our heartbeat
We hung around till the final band
Called "Escape Is At Hand For The Travelling Man"
You yelled in my ear this music speaks to me
They launched into "Lonely From Rock And Roll"
Followed by "They Checked Out An Hour Ago"
Closing with "All Desires Turn Concrete"
Those melodies come back to me
At times beyond our heartbeat
I guess I'm too slow, yes, I'm too, yes, I'm too slow
You said any time of the day was fine
You said any time of the night was also fine
I walked through your revolving door
Got no answer on the seventh floor
Elevator gave a low moan
The pigeons sagged the wire with their weight
Listening to the singing chambermaid
She sang "They Checked Out An Hour Ago"
I kind of chuckled
Those melodies come back to me
In times beyond our heartbeat
I guess I'm too slow, yes, I'm too, yes, I'm too slow
You said any time of the day was fine
You said any time of the night was also fine
Our heartbeat, our heartbeat, our heartbeat
Long conversation or idle chit chat
Maybe dive in or maybe hang back
Idle conversation or idle chit chat
Maybe dive in or maybe hang back
Omg.... say it isn't so. I. Just found out. I helped the band with the break down/ load up after a show at the TROCADERO in Philadelphia. There were about 1500 people there. Quite an intimate show. I miss Winnipeg Manitoba and I will truly miss The Tragically Hip. R.I.P.
Beautiful song. <3
So much love. SO much!!!

Dat Groove man...
Been listening to their music forever. Early stuff is cool. My favourite stuff is the songs that don't get heavy airplay. The obscure Hip tunes just keep getting better and better as I discover them. One of Canada's best bands ever. This is just my humble opinion. Let's all enjoy the magic that is the Tragically Hip.
well said. they indeed have a very unique magical quality that shines and shimmers like a diamond in the sunlight. best band ever.
i will miss him
Good-bye, Gord.
Just want to say Rest in Peace Gord Downie you were and still are a Canadian icon. You will be greatly missed by many.
Don't pigeon hole this artist please. He was a human being. Pointless meaningless titles like Canadian have no place in art. Shove your nationalism up ur arse. Thank you.
Favorite Hip song. RIP, you beautiful man.
RIP Gord Downie (1964-2017).
RIP Gord :(
This song changed my life. Thanks Gord!
this song is painfully beautiful
I agree Sage. Hope you're doing well.
a star on my "sad" playlist
sage kath Would you say it's tragically hip?
For Jim. Material Issue was a part of my 20 somethings and the summer of 91 - fantastic memories. Depression is real , i know. Thanks for this upload, brought back some fine times- be well and turn it up to 11 :) .
He left a hole no one can fill...
This music sure speaks to me.... Let there be more.
Not a single dislike. As it should be.
8 people have no soul.
@John vincent 10 people now but dont worry one more like
Incredible tune, band, and you know who else ,,,,
A beautiful song that takes it's time getting to the chorus "guess I'm too slow"...what sweet regret...Rob's guitar is stellar on this too.
I agree- their patience on getting to the chorus makes it all the more awesome.
SKOJCV they have a gift for that. It’s like musical foreplay.
The beginning & vibe reminds me of David Bowie's Lazarus.. believe that's the song.
The beginning also has a Radiohead In Rainbows vibe. I think the song I’m thinking of is jigsaw falling into place
Silversun Pickups...
Here for the Tunes.but so so sad.:(
Haunting
isnt it ......wow .....
Those melodies come back to me
At times beyond our heartbeat
Thank you Gord
Kevin Gorsky so beautiful....as the tears flow.....timeless
