Tracy Lawrence - If The World Had A Front Porch Lyrics
It was where my mama sat on that old swing with her crochet
It was where grandaddy taught me how to cuss and how to pray
It was where we made our own ice cream those sultry summer nights
Where the bulldog had her puppies and us brothers had our fights
There were many nights I'd sit right there and look out at the stars
It was where I first got up the nerve to steal me my first kiss
And it was where I learned to play guitar and pray I had the gift
If the world had a front porch like we did back then
We'd still have our problems but we'd all be friends
Treatin' your neighbor like he's your next of kin
Wouldn't be gone with the wind
If the world had a front porch like we did back then
Purple hulls and pintos I've shelled more than my share
Cause lighting bugs and crickets danced in the evening air
Some how mama always knew just when to leave it on
If the world had a front porch...
Treatin' your neighbor...

Can't find tlcp website 😆. Anyways, thanks to this outstanding song and video, I get the feeling that it's not as hard as I thought to learn to play guitar: just strumming with one hand and shifting fingers with the other.
I absolutely love this song! What happened to the good music?
Lets see.... "Back Then" = John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, and Dean Corll . And yet this fool wants to talk about "Back Then" like its all cornflakes and roses. Get a fuckin life.
You can't think about 90's country without thinking about Tracy Lawrence.
Treating your neighbor like ur next kin is my favorite line in this song
I use to live with my grandparents all the time n everyone up our road is kin to us, they're all our cousins
Voeboy coebou
Trenton, Ethan, and Gretchen
There were many nights I'd sit right there and look out at the stars
To the sound of a distant whippoorwill or the hum of a passing car
It was where I first got up the nerve to steal me my first kiss
And it was where I learned to play guitar and pray I had the gift
If the world had a front porch like we did back then
We'd still have our problems but we'd all be friends
Treating your neighbor like he's your next of kin
Wouldn't be gone with the wind
If the world had a front porch, like we did back then
America. As it should be

I was born in the 89 but I grew up listening to this type of country so to me this is true, I wish we could go back to those days
Still a great song in 2019!
It does your standing on it when you go outside
This song is my childhood
If the world had a front porch!!LIKE WE DID BACK THEN!!😞

You telling me they came out with vtr stuff back in the 90s and people today are just copying, “IM SO SHOCKED lol
There were no front porches where I grew up. I didn't know my neighbors. Sad way to grow up...
I guess....nah lol
The little kid in the red hat looks like my great grandfather
omg.. this song is true. kids these days are about violence and kill do to all the video games. this is sad. and people wonder where they get it... go off the grid. and teach them right......
tlcp// = tracy lawrence country protocol

There was a time when neighbors knew and cared about each other and each other's children. When cops weren't called on kids that accidentally threw a baseball through a window and parents took responsibility for the actions of their children and didn't defend them for what they did wrong. The families all knew each other and looked out for each other instead of not getting involved because they were afraid of being sued or having to testify.or actually helping someone that needed it.
Golden Age fallacy
It still happens in some small home towns believe it or not. Because those parents raised their kids to be the same way. We have a small town restaurant where everybody knows everybody and we catch up on news. It's a nostalgic place
I love country music is the best thing
best music around
Good song
Good singer
If only we could get back to public manners and civility in America like this song speaks of. This is not the best of America I grew up in. We need to rediscover the "better angels" of ourselves, before it is too late. ... "We'd still have our problems, but we'd all be friends." America can't go on like it is going right now .... peace.
Whippoorwill.... I miss that!!!
those songs are good ok ..
I love this song since when I was a kid and the song went number 2 on the country charts and I wish that song went number 1
Friend and future collaborator Tim McGraw's "I Like It, I Love It" blocked it from #1
I love this song I remember having a prouch that I could do anything on me and my cousins and sister
Where did country go wrong? This is real country. The music they call "real country" that they have nowadays is crap. This is the real deal
Natalie & Jess couldn't agree more, some and by some I mean a small handful of the newer country music is really good but 95% of what we here now is pure junk
What in the world happened to the really good music 😂,The new Country Music today just can't beat the classic Country Music of the 80sand the 90s,
When you were born, stupid kids and your shit music.
It's all subjective. IMO this is cheesy country.
So true
Great song. Bizarre music video.
Tracy did a series of videos based on the show "Quantum Leap":
1. "If The Good Die Young"
2. "Renegades, Rebels and Rogues"
3. "I See It Now"
4. "As Any Fool Can See"
5. "Texas Tornado"
6. this
7. "Is That a Tear"
8. "One Step Ahead of the Storm"
9. "Life Don't Have to Be So Hard"
for a second I thought he was gonna fight the undertaker. lol, great song though😆🖒
Awesome song!!
I love it 🌞
He's got a killer voice. I'd love to see him Live in Concert
The front porch back in the day, when I was a kid, is where all local musicians stopped and sang country music! Best of days on that old porch! Wish kids today could experience that!
This song is about how I grew up! Loved those days!
Oh, for those days to come back! Music when I was little was so special! Musicians singing and playing!
Love trumps hate
When I was a kid, everyone carried their instruments with them! Grew up with bluegrass on the front porch all of my life! Good Times!
I love this song, and it really can speak some real life truth.
This is really an upbeat happy cool song just makes me feel good. I remember hearing this song back in the 90s when country was gold!!💪
Country is better now dumbass, get a brain 👍
Most "country" now is pop not country
Golden Age fallacy
Modulate higher
Is that a VR before VR
A K they had VR in the 90's
Surprise. Google didn't invent virtual reality nor were they the first to build a headset. The military has been experimenting with it since the 70's
Even fighter jets from the 80's had heads up display systems and augmented reality
There aren't enough of these front porch's anymore! Such an easy time, as Grandpa called it the "simple time" living a simple life! Lessons learned on those porch's will never be forgotten!
That is so true times were so much simpler back then
Real music grown up with
Beautiful dress in first take
oh please nigga..lol
I've heard this song many times, but this is the first time I've seen the video for it.
I'm starting a construction company. And I'm giving discounted rates to my neighbors. Most are elderly and don't have a lot of money and we all live in a trailer park. The management comes down hard on them cause their mobile falls into disrepair. So I'm doing my part to help them out and not gouge them like other companies that repair mobiles. Doesn't bring in a lot of bread but it makes me feel closer to god and made a few friends helping my neighbors in need. More people should do that. The world would be a better place.
I think it is wonderful what you do. Bless you.
I wish I had money to bild a front porch. I grew up with one all i have is three steps I have a wood swing me and my lil yorkie Fancy we sit on it every day a lot.
What happened to this guy? A real true country guy, miss his singing!

Living and being raised from the same town little town of foreman Arkansas as Tracy I can’t believe that he was able to make it out of our little town, but man I just love hearing all the stories of him before he was anyone big. My mom went to high school with him and she used to tell me the stories of him, and this song sounds just like foreman Arkansas. I just wish he would come back here to his home town to do a concert, I sure would like to meet him
