Tracy Byrd - Heaven In My Woman's Eyes Lyrics

It's cold this time of year and the people
In this city make it colder
They've all forgotten what it means
To lend a hand or cry on a shoulder
In this land of opportunity we fight like hell
To make an extra dime
It would surely get the best of me
Without the heaven in my woman's eyes

It's the heaven in my woman's eyes
That make life's hell a better place to be
It's the heaven in my woman's eyes
That gives the inspiration that I need
Sometimes it seems a man is born
To lose no matter how hard he tries
Life on earth would sure be hell
Without the heaven in my woman's eyes

Simplicity was once a way of life
But now it's buried with our past
A dollar used to go a long long way
But now it just goes fast
Oh, how I wish that I could be
As free as our union eagle flies
But the only time I'm free is when
I view the heaven in my woman's eyes

It's the heaven in my woman's eyes
That make life's hell a better place to be
It's the heaven in my woman's eyes
That gives the inspiration that I need
Sometimes it seems a man is born
To lose no matter how hard he tries
Life on earth would sure be hell
Without the heaven in my woman's eyes

Life on earth would sure be hell
Without the heaven in my woman's eyes...

Definitely one of my favorites by Tracy Byrd, and the lyrics are so true! It also kind of reminds me of a Marty Robbins song from the 60's with a touch of Merle Haggard. I always thought he shined the most on smooth ballads like these.

I remember hearing this song in the Texas panhandle, the small town of Hereford Texas . We were picking up fat cattle and all 15 of us stopped talking on the cab just to hear this song. It was #1 on Amarillo for that entire year.

Ladies, for what it might be worth:

There are a number of us men out there who, generally speaking, believe "the heaven in a woman's eye" really is what makes a place a better place to be. So, if a man you might be interested in doesn't see a softness or semblance of heaven in your eyes, might you reconsider your overall attitude toward and viewpoint about manhood? If you can find it within your heart to do so, you'll really enjoy the results.

This is easily my favorite Tracy Bird song. With his looks & deep, beautiful voice I always thought he should've been a bigger name in country music.

    J.... T....

Agree, wish he would do more in this style.

    J.... T....

He just travels texas and sings with in its border..

    J.... T....

I love this South central east Texas sound. Reminds me of a Sunny Sunday afternoon in Laredo, TX. This song should have hit #1 on Billboard for Tracy Byrd. Just missed the top 10 in April of 1996.

    J.... T....

One of my favorite Tracy Byrd songs, too! Tracy has also said that this is one of his personal favorite songs he ever recorded. He always wanted to do more songs like this, but the record labels were always wanting him to record more ditties similar to Watermelon Crawl, which was frustrating for him. I'd been reading about it in some of my country magazines.

  20. T.... E....

this is easily some of the strongest music in existence today.  period.
