It's actually 10 performances, I saw the first show last night.

I once made a feminist listen to this. She as usual didn't understand anything. I didn't explain it to her. Rather got the inner and silent amusement of trolling her without her knowing that I trolled her. It was so funny. She was literally clueless about the lyrics.

At 25 Dylan had already released Blonde on Blonde, Highway 61 Revisited, Bringing It All Back Home, The Freewheeling Bob Dylan and two other albums that are not as great but still amazing, Another Side and The Times They Are A Changing...I now give you a lifetime to let that sink in:)

I think most people commenting on this song are missing the big picture including that point and other. Dylan's words express his frustration and discontent with women. It's a theme that is wonderfully written and expressed throughout the entirety of the record. Take another listen :)

@ Thomas Allison, have listened to DYLAN for over 50 years and at that particular time he was going through a pretty "nasty" breakup for him at least.  While "thematically" the point can be debated about the entirety of the album, MY assessment STILL stands having been "through the wringer" a time or 3 myself. She might have smoked like a fiend whilst high on speed. Or maybe it was the fog of a poor memory or a mental haze from too much pot.
