Tracy Byrd - Ain't It Just Like A Woman Lyrics

When it rains it pours
And man it's really comin' down
Feels like the weight of the whole world
Knocked me to the ground
And that's when she takes me in
And gives me shelter from the storm
Where I'm safe and warm
Lost in her arms
Nothin's wrong anymore
Ain't it just like a woman
To know when a man needs to be loved

Life's a race I'll never win
It's enough to drive me crazy
And when the walls start closing in
It never fails to amaze me
How one little touch
Or a twinkle in her eye
Brings me to life
Yeah, she knows the way
To make it alright
Ain't it just like a woman
To know when a man needs to be loved

That's when she takes me in
And gives me shelter from the storm
Where I'm safe and warm
Lost in her arms
Nothin's wrong anymore
Ain't it just like a woman
To know when a man needs to be loved

Ain't it just like a woman
To know when a man needs to be loved...

Ya got to be crunching a lot of data to come up with lyrics at this level. That's after paying really close attention since earliest childhood, and dwelling on experience with a good deal of intensity. And even all that's not quite enough. You still need something else and I don't know what to call it. Talent seems too small a word.

  7. m.... b....

So this is the song about edie sedgwick??!! ❤️

  8. w.... ....

thank you sir for sharing finally your music with the world in this format. an inspiration to so many from the guy in the back.

The mist of a winter fog in late January blankets the sun as the pruner laborer makes his cuts to the vines that sprawl miles and miles around, while Dylan plays in the back ground and his child is swept by this magical sound. My youth in 1965 Central Valley California working in the fields and dreaming.

  11. L.... B....

    Just a beautiful song....

  13. S.... C....

There's a lot that many of us from our generation can say about Bob Dylan but let's all agree that he was one who, with his brilliant song writing, transformed us in a measurable way.

  14. F.... L....

    Bellissima

  15. J.... C....

Oh what a lovely melody. I love it! Dylan is a great composer.

I once made a feminist listen to this. She as usual didn't understand anything. I didn't explain it to her. Rather got the inner and silent amusement of trolling her without her knowing that I trolled her. It was so funny. She was literally clueless about the lyrics.

  21. R.... M....

At 25 Dylan had already released Blonde on Blonde, Highway 61 Revisited, Bringing It All Back Home, The Freewheeling Bob Dylan and two other albums that are not as great but still amazing, Another Side and The Times They Are A Changing...I now give you a lifetime to let that sink in:)

  22. c.... d....

    Adoro este Dilan!! 🎸🤗

  23. r.... l....

babys got new clothes, ribbons and bows from her hair that's so cool!!!!! bob too.

  24. d.... r....

"you fake just like a woman"  the truest and bitterest words ever put on record.

    d.... r....

I think most people commenting on this song are missing the big picture including that point and other. Dylan's words express his frustration and discontent with women. It's a theme that is wonderfully written and expressed throughout the entirety of the record. Take another listen :)

    d.... r....

@ Thomas Allison, have listened to DYLAN for over 50 years and at that particular time he was going through a pretty "nasty" breakup for him at least.  While "thematically" the point can be debated about the entirety of the album, MY assessment STILL stands having been "through the wringer" a time or 3 myself. Peace.    8 )

    d.... r....

demetrius reese who was he breaking up with? I've heard this song and others was about Edie Sedgwick but he denies they were ever together.

    d.... r....

I remember the moment I heard this song. That was in 1966 when I was 12 years old. My view of the world began in that moment. Sorry feministas.

  29. D.... P....

Love the way Woody Allen rolls his eyes in ANNIE HALL when Shelley Duvall quotes this lyric.

    D.... P....

    Wow he would Lol

  30. L.... F....

I wish ads wouldn't play music. It's infuriating listening to Bob Dylan's profound music and having it interrupted between songs with some fucking half-witted simpleton bullshit hip hop music.

  31. P.... D....

Thanks bobby for this evergreen song, this song is special to me coz you performed this song on a concert for bangladesh... My father was fighting for freedom of Bangladesh, while you, and all those guys were singing for my country,

  35. C.... S....

His detachment when singing about love interests is a thing of wonder, you consider if it's firsthand or a vicarious perspective.

    C.... S....

    Amen to that!!!!

  36. O.... S....

There you go Donald Trump. I can't think of a bigger queen. All this just to beat up one person. Congratulations!

BOB DYLAN, THE BIGGEST BETWEEN THE BEST!

  58. L.... G....

her Fog, her amphetamine, and her pearls.

    L.... G....

    Rumblefish London Fog?

    L.... G....

@Rumblefish Why does it have to be a coat, pray tell? Why can't it just be fog? Did Dylan pronounce on the matter?

    L.... G....

@Rumblefish It's a coat company not a style of coat, but ok. Still, unless what you say is reliably attributed him it could be anything. How about, for instance, a heavy cloud of cigarette smoke? She might have smoked like a fiend whilst high on speed. Or maybe it was the fog of a poor memory or a mental haze from too much pot.

    Anyway, thanks for your reply.

    L.... G....

@Rumblefish Waiter! Two tins of your finest London Fog!

  59. R.... ....

Very hard to choose which is the best track from Blonde on Blonde, they are all excellent.

  60. N.... H....

This song was inspired by Dylan''s brief romance with a trans woman named Roxy Hollywood. Such relationships were heavily scorned in the 60s, so the powers that be have tried to keep this knowledge out of the public eye for decades.

    N.... H....

Where did you get that information?

    N.... H....

@a dark winter it was basicakly a known fact in NY gay/art/music circles back un the day. bur dylan recently confirmed it since by 2018 the stigma had diminished

  61. G.... F....

WE ALL OWE A BOW TO BOB,,,,

  62. .... ....

Listening to Jeff Buckley singing this was an absolutely different experience

  63. M.... S....

  65. M.... B....

Woody Allen & Shelly Duvall lampooned this mercilessly. It either attracts or repels females emotionally. Many men have tried to say this , this well , down through history. This is it.

  66. M.... D....

    for Sharon Stone

  67. t.... d....

Fame don't mean you find love. Nobody bitched better than Bob.

  68. A.... J....

  69. J.... T....

Edie Sedgwick is just like a women

  70. T.... S....

What a bad singer, what a great music/song. Wer solch eine nette Offenheit nicht versteht und sich trotzdem mit ihm einlässt ist selbst schuld. ;)

  71. B.... M....

    well the governor recovered
    put his wooden
    leg in the cupboard
    and said to his secretary
    hand me my leg
i will do what i once said

    to be continued

  72. B.... M....

all i can see down on knees
is a god watching over me

    as rats surround
    a third of the town
    in LA
    homelessness abounds
    with no politicians around
    to say
    It shouldn't be this way
    with rats breeding every day
    the governor said
    as he laid in bed
    i think i will resign
    i know its time
as a rat took off his leg

  96. E.... W....

Thou hast been judged to be unmerciful, unkind, selfish and you derive pleasure from others suffering. For you are not good, but your soul is rotten- to the very core. The fate of all people on earth is tied to each other, and if God screws up- everyone suffers for it. Its not just about you O' selfish one this heaven or hell deal, but about EVERYONE. I know its so hard for you not to think about everything in such a selfish way when you thought for so long it was all about you and you alone, but its about EVERYONE. See if you are a selfish dick who doesn't care about others and everyone is exactly the same as you Bob (not unique in the world you are but just a representative for a greater whole)- what do you think happens to the entire world and every soul aboard the ship? I am sorry. You dig your own grave. I didn't lay a hand upon you, nor shall I ever.

  97. L.... L....

    break~ just like a little girl <3

  98. T.... B....

Deep down I think you are a woman hater Bob, and your hatred has just grown darker and colder over the years as you've amassed yet more failures and more experiences with them. This is part of the reason you have so many newer videos and this song right? You hate women. I always thought Bob Weir hated women- in a womanizing type of Vinnie Barbarino sort of way, but your hatred for women is all the way on the other side of the color spectrum.

  99. T.... B....

Little Schoolboys you will always be to me- innocent, naive, as unknowing and unaware as the day one is born of ones own fingers and toes...
