Townshend, Pete - Greyhound Girl Lyrics

Each time we come here
I see we'll never come here again
Each time we make love
I say we'll never make love again
But, my little greyhound girl
You got me running, down the flat
But, my little greyhound girl
I'm in your trap

Each time we ride out
I say we'll never ride out again
And, when we kiss
I say we'll never, never kiss again
But, my little greyhound girl
You got me running down the flat
My little greyhound girl
I'm in your trap

I'm looking for reasons
I'm looking for reasons
But there ain't a why or a wherefore
To label on my little greyhound girl
You've got me running, down the flat
My little greyhound girl
I'm in your track

one of the most beautiful songs ever composed in human history

  2. T.... F....

I prefer the live version I heard once where it didn't have the distorted guitar but a lovely warm string section and was played more as a ballad.

  3. B.... C....

One of the greatest unreleased songs ever.
I know it's a Pete song, but it was meant for The Who, you know?
    Work of art either ways.

  4. A.... J....

Pete Townshend's amazing artistic ability is to try and visualize cues for his musical and lyrical writing. Lifehouse stuck with him for many years because he probably knew the songs were strong and with merit, and that the story had some bearing on people's journey in the Modern Life, and Era of the day, but it was still hard to explain and to adapt, but because in some ways, ahead of it's time, he kept wanting to revisit and reinvent it to see it come to more of a fruition as originally thought out

    Beautiful song...

Classified was released on 'Glastonbury Fayre' a triple LP released in 1972 on Revelations Records. It was then released in 82 on B side '45 in UK only on Atco records. Let my love open the door. Have a look at 45cat website. Pete had forgotten the 1972 release when he found the tapes at Eel Pie.

@12toedfeet the story goes that the who HAD recorded it but the master tape was destroyed. In the 1995 Version of Who's Next. I hope now with the better technology they can release it again soon

Thank you so much for putting this song up. I got this song on the back of Let My Love Open The Door when I was about 15. It has been my favourite song ever since, but I misplaced the single. I can't tell you how much hearing it "in the original" means!
