Ok now here's a decent song. Still feels kinda aimless and needlessly janky like a lot of his new stuff, but it's a lot more interesting than the last few tracks at least.

Set the incredible artistry of the music aside for a moment....this is an audio science and engineering masterpiece by itself.

The first couple go-arounds of this album, this was my least favorite song... until I actually listened to the lyrics. Now, I connect to this song at such a base level. Brings me to tears when he sings "thank you for keeping trying ". Thank you, Devin. For such a beautiful song.

Devin Townsend is the new Frank Zappa. And he is years light better than Glenn Hughes!

The waiting kind should have been a main lp track..but this album is so good, much like reason i love animals as leaders, is it can grow on you, and there’s so many listens ahead where it will improve and you’ll find new things in it

The bridging after "Monsters and robots are broken-hearted" 3:32, I wish it was longer as a proper instrumental bridge. But nothing is perfect. I can't have everything. I accept that :( Was that part Devin's or Nolly's idea? It sounded very Nolly to me.

Dev's idea! It's actually a cheeky reference to himself. Devin is the 'Octopus Lover' (his favourite animal, which you might be able to tell from the Genesis video). He specifically asked the choir to knock that one out of the park. He talks about it briefly in Track-By-Track video on InsideOut's channel. Def worth a watch.

I love his voice. It personalizes his phenomenal music even more.

I am thinking this is possibly the greatest and most epic album ever. It may even eclipse For The Love Of Art And the Making by Beyond Twilight as my favourite concept album of all time and that is saying something. Just listened to it at the perfect moment whereby I was living the story of the album as it was being listened to in real time. Totally insane, a bit like myself, which probably explains it all really.


Thankyou Devin for all that you do, and I relate more to the headspace that you were in while conceiving this than I would care to admit. When I told you I love you man in person, I really meant it as you mean that much to me and my musical journey through life that love is the only word which can convey my appreciation for what you do with any justification.


Next goal is to find myself a job so I can spend money on getting the deluxe edition of this album. I feel bad that I am in such financial dire straits that I can't afford to support my favourite artists and for this I feel like less of a human being. Time for that to change. Thanks for the inspiration dude.

Love the SYL call back at the beginning which brings me back to being a college kid (I'm 39 now o. the cusp of turning 40) listening to my first SYL album (It was No Sleep Til Bedtime). The angelic sounds on this brings me to tears. This album hits me hard emotionally as Ocean Machine and Terra. I use to listen to Ocean Machine mp3s on HevyDevy.com while writing research papers. So songs like this takes me back to a time where everything felt possible.

The first time I heard this it was my least favorite track on the album and figured it would eventually be skippable. Now i absolutely love it and it is now one of my favorites. Funny how music can grow on you like that

FeelingShred I watched it and see absolutely nothing wrong with what he said. What is so hard to understand that if a musician doesn’t sell enough to cover costs they won’t be able to continue making such elaborate albums? Lol slap in the face? Not really and I’m not even sure how you would feel that way.

Bought the double vinyl of this album and 3/4 of the Eras box sets (missing the 3rd one yet). If there's an artist worthy of my support, it's him. And not because he "begged" for it lol. I bought them all before I even knew he said anything about that.

@Aaron Schilling i've been listening to anneke's voice since way back in the 90's when she was in The Gathering. There is no way thats that her voice. She's also not credited for this music. Only "King" "Hear Me" and "Here comes the sun".

Right?! So many emotions came out. I woke up the mornkng it was released to get it. Grabbed some mcmuffins and went home to listen. As i listened, i started feeling happy, sad, cryed, laughed. And, totally mixed me up. Still recovering, honestly. But, wow! I cant say enough good things about this record. Or, anything he does for that matter. But, even as amazing as anything he has done really is. This one is definently something special. Devin Townsend? If youre listening. I fucking love you, man!

Yes it's the same part as in Canada, but not slowed down and narrated by dad of the album's engineer. I noticed it as well, since Canada is one of my all-time favorite Devin songs.
