I think my only real complaint with this is purely that she sounds really distant.

When you think one ridiculously good vocalist is not enough so you bring another one into the fold.

Man, I love both versions. I wish Devin could cover his song in this octave tho too. You know he'd be awesome.

Annika is gorgeous and sings like an angel. This is one of the greatest songs ever written and it's shocking that this wasn't a hit in America.

I think I'm more of a fan of this version simply because there's just not so much crap going on in the background. I came here to hear the guitar though and I still can't hear it that well 😂 it's a shame this guy is extremely good at writing melodic metal and the guitar aspect of the song isnt even that loud most of the time.

While I personally enjoy the Ziltoid version more, this one has a very nice energy to it

I like how it's a more cheerful version of Hyperdrive with some of the lyrics changed to sound more hopeful. I think the original Devin vocals version is chiller, more relaxing and somber while this is upbeat and gets me excited so I don't really know which one I Iike more. Kinda depends on my mood.

I prefer the Ziltoid version, its more atmospheric and dark. This is meh to me.

That's actually great news! I love Anneke, but I feel like a good balance is what makes Devin's music the best. I'm glad to hear she'll be a part of this one! I wonder if she'll be participating in the tour? I already have my VIP tickets for the Louisville show because Devin is seriously a personal hero of mine and I need to meet him and let him know how much he's changed my life.

Ironically to the fans, this is Devin's favorite version. All of Anneke's versions are his preferred! haha

+Chevy Chase This is my preferred version too. I love Devin's voice, but the versions I've heard with just him are a little too slow. It makes it sound sound more repetitive, I find. It's a great song though.

Anneke has been my favourite female vocalist since 1995 and Devin since 1997. I was so stoked when they started working together, although it should be said that Anneke is not used to her full potential in most of their collaborations.

Her voice has such a beautiful harmony & tail to it.

This version is pretty good, I like it, but I really can't understand how so many people prefer this one over the original one, the original is clearly better, by a long shot.

@Jacktrack 7 It depends what you like. I much prefer the mix and the tone of the guitars in this version. Also devin's vocals don't do much for me in the original, they're good but again the effects and the tone weren't as enjoyable as they are here. IMO.

"Devin" has absolutely nothing to do with it, it's just more atmospheric. It tells a story and has the perfect sound for it, this version doesn't, it doesn't fit the slightly dark and gritty space theme etc.

This is a great version, but I prefer the chilled out version on Ziltoid.

It's not just more "chilled out", but more atmospheric, it gets the idea across better. It fits the space theme better, like the riffs and the whole rest of that album. "Spooky" almost fits better than chilled, although in a spooky in a space way.

Amazing song. It is a way of escapism for me.

Its like the logical evolution of The Gathering's 'Nighttime Birds' era... albeit another path. A friend sent me this link and I'm currently searching for this album, LOVE Anneke's voice and almost anything she works on.
