my mother died 7 years ago of cancer and today is her birthday. but i know she's looking out for me, the way she said she would.

now, i understand this song more than ever

How is it possible that this is simultaneously not only the saddest, but also one of the greatest bands I've ever heard?

I mean, I'm almost 30 and have listened to, and have favorites I've been moved by, ALOT of bands throughout the years...I'm just now getting into TA at the behest of a friend.

That being said, I've never lost a loved one in this way, YET this is all still so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time :,)

Man i was just diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at the age of 24 on june 1st. This song hits close to home :/

I've never felt so emotionally drained by the lyrics of a song before. Music is what moves me, usually not the words, but this is the exception. Nearly brought to tears by the time I heard "... The way she said she would."

Absolutely unreal the emotion in his voice at 1:13. Honestly one of the saddest songs I've ever heard, and I listen to a lot of different music.

I just know Jeremy is gonna break in tears at some point if he performs this song live, just hearing all of us sing along with him...so much respect for the band and cant wait to hear the rest of the album when its released.

Last album was good but first two tracks off stage four hit me more than most everything off is survived by with maybe harbor being the exception.

So I guess it's about feeling guilty for not believing in god, when the person in question wants you to so they can see you again in the afterlife they believe in. Simple, but touching :(

The entire album centers on the frontman dealing with his mom's diagnosis and eventual passing from stage 4 cancer, hence the album title. I read it more as his anger toward god than guilt. Going to be an extremely tough listen.
