Toto Kingdom Of Desire Comments
Allmusic professional critics don't like good music.
I agree Daniel! Love the lyrics to this song! Great album for sho!!!!
Super Song!!!
absolutely Epic Production Steve lukather is an amazing amazing musician amongst the others of Toto I love them all
This song's mood is so dark that even Steve Lukather and Mike Porcaro tuned guitar and bass a half step flat - completely unusual for them. A masterpiece from an album that I consider as the best TOTO ever released.
Fucking awesome
Can't find propers words bois...this is INSANE..
Luke's voice sound a bit weak. But have a charm too :)
Imagine if this song was sung by Lemmy from Motorhead it would be more great :)
Los mejore músicos de sesion
And written by Danny Kortchmar.
Great Song!!!
Possibly Toto's biggest gem,.as a rock hit..underplayed..hidden and seldom heard! This is a true gem album!
No, you are not Toto, .. ..
pretty different sound, huh?
@JoeJoe Different, ... exactly, ... not necessarily worse, ....
Masterpiece
This brings back so many memories, me being a small kid playing with my toys, right next to my father, may God bless him, now a teenager excited to learn how to play this song on guitar. Toto was my dad's favorite band and Hold the Line was played at his funeral. Fucking hell, I can't listen to this band without being brought to tears and that song especially, and I don't think I will for a long time. Guys, you have to love your family and spend time with them while they're still around, otherwise you won't forgive yourself for not doing that your whole life. As I'm writing this it seems more and more pointless, but I just wanted to send that message. Cheers!
Amen to that, dude. Toto is fucking amazing. So nice of you to share this wonderful story, God Bless
Listen man, your father and mine also knows what music really was, so we today must fight with this piece of music shit that we facing today. So god bless your father ! and keep listening to the good music
What a nice sounds great job luke
toto what else !! j"y reviens toujours c'est une addiction !!!
yes le top du top !!
One of the best songs ever Steve's guitar playing and sound is outstanding.
90's Toto is easily the best decade of Toto, all of their 90's stuff are godlikes with Lukather on lead vocal.
Great Danny Kortchmar tune.
Great Danny Kortchmar tune.
I just think that the last good album was Isolation. don't like anything after that.
Isolation is great..so was Turn Back
Let that pendulum swing
bad asss babe!
Were there any hit singles of this album?...cause it seems that 90's Toto was pretty much unheard of in the U.S.
No hits, they were kind of forgotten in USA after I'll be over you.
Shame they weren't compared to most popular rock bands like they should have been. But in the meantime, we'll appreciate them as loyal fans.
The industry gave up on talent after they found angst filled drug addicts who know 3 chords are all they need to produce and force radio to play over and over..that and ganster rap pretty much destroyed the chances of being a professional musician..now we are at a point where there is a disconnect from the greats of the previous generation that has never existed before... there is a direct lineage from the 40s, 50s, and 60's which shaped and literally gave birth to the likes of Toto and Yes and so on... today there is not even a hint of that lineage anywhere in anything played on the radio or handed grammys... what a shame
siempre ha sido mi grupo favorito y es que son músicos de estudio les pones una partitura a cada uno y tocan el tema como si hubieran ensayado un semana
this is good stuff
Love this track, it's a real highlight of a great album. It's right up there with Hydra and IV as my favourite album by the band. So dark and brooding. Luke's guitar playing is stellar as usual.
AMAZING SONG!
WOW. Just WOW. Superb.
The Kingdom of desire? is hell
Clark Vincent Enriquez ?
good question.
Co za groove!!! MIAZGA!!
If this song had a video clip, I'm sure there should be a motorbike in it. The lyrics reminds me of someone whose name I used to substitute in the lyrics of Leah, for a long, long time.
To whom I dedicated The Other Side before travelling to his country (Germany) for a weekend.
To whom I've forgotten to sing Mad About You when he gave me a lift from Strasburg to his village Groß Daberkow.
Does anybody know the theme/story behind the album cover? I'm planning to get a tattoo of it but I can't find any information on that draw. One of the absolute best Toto albums imo!
+Dennys Lopez This is one of the last Jeff Porcaro's art. It was decided to use it as an album cover shortly after is death on 1992, just before the album was released
+Mookie Yomu thanks!
Dennys Lopez d u have the tattu. It is means death
But isn't it our destiny after all? It is indeed part of who we are..
We've all gone back to the kingdom of desire
Aivan järkyttävän loistava styge, karvat nousee pystyyn.. <3
for me the darkest Album of the band - a real tribute to the death of Jeff...they were really suffering the pain...
+theSpaghettiKid18 thanks, amazing album.
He's playing on every song except one ? No, he's playing on every song of the album
thank you for the Information - yes some People told me this.... so it seems it was a maybe a preview for what will happen...Jeff may rest in peace...
I believe you are correct mahefaa! I thought I remembered reading in the liner notes that Tommy Lee (drummer from Motley Crue, who is an incredible and underrated groove rock drummer!) did some overdubs on a song. I checked the liner notes again and although Steve Lukather thanks him in the liner notes, Tommy Lee is not credited as an additional musician. According to the liner notes, all of the basic tracks were recorded months before Jeff's passing.
Long live Toto!
Not a tribute at all. Jeff was very much alive for these recordings. They were ready to launch a world tour in support when he died. For me Jeff Porcaro is the greatest of all time and my favorite musician of all time even though I am a guitar player <3 RIP
knights of rock.
The porcaro bro's were groove machines!
oh my God yes!!! jeff is my hero him and mike is just scary
b.j. Godfrey bloom
you may disagree but this is one of the best rock album ever produced. toto rules and this is the best proof of it!!!
agree. this LP will divide a camp. you either get it or you don't. if you do not, there will never be a connection...if you do, two strangers can feel like brothers without a word. Simple as that!
I do not disagree!
Definitely a harder edge than any other Toto album.. The best track here is Jake to the Bone... encapsulates everything that made these guys the best musicians on the planet .. really the modern day wrecking crew... I wish Steve Porcaro could have been more involved on this record... he did some synth and atmosphere stuff, but not nearly enough to balance out the pure rock tracks.
The only album proven that Toto can do harder and rough, but still nice.
Toto's finest hour?? Yes......I think so!
I think Jake to the Bone is more representative of their entire catalog ... I will say this song and How many Times are better than pretty much every song from the grunge era... blows them all away... real musicians who know what modes and diminished chords are always will <3 RIP Jeff
ABSOLUTELY. THEIR BEST
Τι κοματάρα ειναι αυτή γαμώ το κέρατό μου????
Such a fantastic album!!!
Toto : Gods of my kinda rock....Since 1980's.........Let that fuckin pendulum swing.....
Since 1977 ;)
What f.... groove of the Porcaros bros. This song is dark, sad, morbid and absolutely beautiful. It connect me with Jeff's death.
@douglas70940 May the good man rest in peace :)
awsome!
This tune is over the top!!! Steve Lukather rocks!!!
He sings of poetic words and man... the licks... the chops... insane bro. I love TOTO yo!
Fantastic. I am a fan too.
Non ce n'è per nessuno! Li ho visti in concerto quest'anno e ancora suonano a livelli strepitosi.
Perfect...
Their music is my freedom and music life!
C est une chanson sublime dans un album statosphéérique:réveillez vous les mélomanes car seulement 7 commentaires ont été publié?Pauvre monde...
Le top du top !
Μα αυτοί οι Έλληνες... όπου καλή μουσική, να 'μαστε!!
Grandiosi sempre.
τρέλααααααααααα!!! <3
Fantastica ! E' la mia preferita assieme a Gipsy Train
