TOTO is on my short list of my FAVORITES list.  There's so much love and caring in their compositions. There's goodness, truth and honesty in their music. When I'm listening to them, they just reach and grab my soul............ They're unbelievable. If I had to pick one word to describe them it would have to be..............................Exquisite.............!!    Guys, thank you for always being there for us.......

Consider the first LP, & how each of the players had already been working on other musicians projects, LA studio guys, I found an old Cher record.. with toto.. or what would be toto,.. before they put out their own LP..These guys are PRO. R.I.P. to the brothers and I don't know how steve held it together thru all the changes.. but god bless him.

toto adrenalina pura

All numbers of Toto commemorating the late Porcaro guys, move me every time when I listen to them. I Will Remember, The Other End of Time, Wings of Time and Gift of Faith - these are among their most genuine songs. Wonderful how a tragedy can reveal the creativity and taste of some artists. Even if there are no concrete cases in my life, these songs always move me and remind me that the biggest tragedy in life is wasting time and energy.
And I remember four German guys who used to do jam sessioning with three outstanding friends of mine (they're Hungarian ladies), and wasted lots of treasures in their lives, for the expense of the band, the audience (including me), their families, their friends and not at last, themselves. One didn't take his tasks in the band seriously, one has killed himself in 2014, one has proved his moral poverty, and one has disappeared from our life. Such ways of life kill the liberating and inspiring power that they've given with their art and humour. And those who receive this power, are forced to mourn something that is more than a person: a source of inspiration.
To sum up, I empathise with Steve Lukather and his gig completely. May Mike and Jeff rest in peace, under Divine Protection!

-Jeff Porcaro: Drums, although this was the first album to feature Simon Phillips after Jeff's death 3 years earlier

why are critics so harsh on toto?

@williamwst yeah exactly. and yet they will praise all these new talentless musicians that get cant even write or sing properly. in the 20th century talent actually existed and toto are pure proof of it.

+AND-Imusic This album had a more guitar orianted sound because it came after grunge had changed everything and the big eighties sound was dead and gone. It's not one of my favroute ones or the easiest to listen to but that is understandable since it was the first one after Jeff passed and the band were looking for a new direction it has some great moments on it but its never an easy one to listen to.
If you listen to every Toto album up to this point they all chime in with the sound of the year they were made in. An album like the Seventh one with lush keyboard arrangments would have got the band dropped from their lable in the mid 90s. And Lukather is one of the most selfless guitar players always plays and adapts his style for the song so your talking crap
