I think its about getting out of a 'shituation' as Peter would call it.

I think the train is a metaphor for life so this song may well be about someone who wanted to kill themselves. Can't take it anymore: "Won't be too long, whether right or wrong". Tosh is saying perhaps how we are all different and all have to find our own purpose. Some going east, some going west, some stand aside to do their best.

I like the roots version of "Catch a fire" better since it sounds so raw. Not that this version isn't any good but my taste is telling me that the "Catch a fire" version is better.
