Tony Bennett - A Stranger In Paradise Lyrics
Take my hand
I'm a stranger in paradise
All lost in a wonderland
A stranger in paradise
If I stand starry-eyed
For mortals who stand beside an angel like you
I saw your face and I ascended
Out of the commonplace into the rare somewhere
In space I hang suspended
Until I know there's a chance that you care
Won't you answer this fervent prayer
Of a stranger in paradise
Don't send me in dark despair
But open your angel's arms
To this stranger in paradise
And tell him that he need be
A stranger no more

Awesome Musical Gala
This music is gone too, like real R&B music that hide new artist flaws spending their time squalling over highly digital equipment with no soul. Ray is gone, so is Aretha, as is Whitney and many others
OPINION:
ONE OF BEST SOLO RENDITIONS OF THIS SONG,"A STRANGER IN PARADISE", IS BY. MR . BENNETT.
APOLOGY :
MR. BENNETT, THAT'S THE THOUGHT I HAD; IT'S A BIT LATE, WHEN I BEGAN TO REGRET.
BUT, AT FIRST, PRIMARILY THAT WAS NOT IN MY MIND.
YET, THERE WAS A SORT OF INDECISION , GOING ON.
IT'S ALL A HUMAN FAILING MISTAKE.
******* ******* *******
THIS SOLO IS THE VERSION I'VE BEEN USED TO, W/C I USED TO LISTEN TO.
THANK YOU .
PS : YOUR SOLO OF, " THE SHADOW OF YOUR SMILE", IS ALSO SIMILARLY PLEASING, OR SO VERY NICELY PLEASANT.
1) A STRANGER IN PARADISE
2) THE SHADOW OF YOUR SMILE
3) ON GREEN DOLPHIN STREET
4) THE BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS
5) IPANEMA ( A GIRL FROM )
Take my hand I’m a strange looking parasite
Only the very best can open this hauting song like he did here, class acts only
The most loved pop music adaptation of classical music. The Romantic era of course.
My Blue Heaven brought me here
Borodin was a native Georgian, his father was Georgian prince Gedevanishvili.
C'est juste magnifique...
Beautiful
Great singer
Era uno dei pezzi preferiti dai miei😭😭😭
Such a class song by a class act. One of my Late Mum's all time favourites . A UK number one in 1956
Anyone now a version of this song that is by a female, sounds like opera , but in a different language?

Julio Iglesias - Quiereme
My Blue Heaven
Улетай на крыльях ветра
Ты в край родной, родная песня наша,
Туда, где мы тебя свободно пели,
Где было так привольно нам с тобою…
Бородин «Князь Игорь» (1890)
The world is missing a Sinatra cover of this. He would have killed it.
Tony Bennett already did.
What a voice what a song bravo
Behold! The angels in Heaven have stopped singing and are humming along with Tony.
Mutluluk duyuyorum, bu şarkıyı bilmenin kıvancını yaşıyorum..
Call me a new fan. :)
We blame Jim Cornette
great singer
"Etrangers au paradis" by Gloria Lasso is far more simple and beautiful...
I want to marry Tony Bennett, lol
Vince Russo whistling through a wrestling locker room.
Jim Cornette!
i knew i couldnt be the only one who looked it up hahhaha
@user 101 I was thinking the same. "It would be awesome if the first comment I find is a Russo reference". Lol
One of the best vocal records of the '50s. Bought it on my 20th birthday back in '53.
Loved this song. Everyone I think did 🌹🌹🌹🌹
No one can sing this like Tony Bennett! ❤️❤️.
Ahora entiendo por qué mi padre lloraba cuando escuchaba esta canción. Es bella y tiene recuerdos inolvidables.
His rendition is the very best of this beautiful song. Love it !
There was a very good friend in Montreal introducing this song to me. Now I still listen to it from time to time but I just fell out of touch with him... I missed you, very much. How have you been so far?
Música para sempre!!!
Such a beautiful, effortless performance, Tony was one of my late fathers favourites, and I love listening to his timeless classics too.

💖💙 my Nan and Grandad's wedding song 😢 we used it for Grandad's funeral. X
maybe not the first, maybe not the last............but the best!
Bought this for my grandmother when I was a boy in the 1950s. Every time I hear it I think of her. Loved my Nan.

@Nick Riggio thanks. James
@James Leavey Connections Hope to see you there James.
@James Leavey Connections You're great James!!! Thanks for sharing about your Nan. You blessed me with your heart!!!
James Leavey connections what lovely memory
Oh, yes. Yes. Yes.
This is undoubtedly the greatest rendition. Add his “Rags to Riches” and I Left My Heart in San Francisco” and we are talking about one of the greatest singers of all times.
Him, Johnny Mathis and Andy Williams.
"Of all time"? Calm down
Haven't listebned to many singers, have you?
Personally I think this version is too slow. His singing is good, too much vibrato for my liking, but it was the fashion back then.
My Blue Heaven (1990)
Jim Cornette brought me here.

ONE OF TONY BENNET’ S GREATEST HITS .... SO BEAUTIFUL
It is unethical to borrow a famous melody from famous opera and great composer without even admitting that.
A VERY CLASSIC SONG FROM A GREAT GREAT SINGER TONY BENNETT , I LOVE IT
BEAUTIFUL JUST BEAUTIFUL FROM THE ONE AND ONLY TONY BENNETT
Песня рабынь?
NO ONE CAN SING THIS BETTER LIKE TONY BENNETT
Give credit where is due. Alexander Borodin - Prince Igor - Polovetsian Dances
I wish I was born in those days
Of course it's Borodin , Polovetskie Plyaski itd.....and yet Tony Bennett is simply breathtaking !
Makes me so sad....
He's the BEST.
Lyrics :
"Stranger In Paradise"
Take my hand
I'm a stranger in Paradise
All lost in a wonderland
A stranger in paradise
If I stand starry-eyed
That's a danger in Paradise
For mortals who stand beside
An angel like you
I saw your face
And I ascended
Out of the common-place
Into the rarest
Somewhere in space
I hang suspended
Until I know
There's a chance that you care
Won't you answer this fervent prayer
Of a stranger in paradise
Don't send me in dark despair
From all that I hunger for
But open your angel's arms
To this stranger in paradise
And tell him that he need be
A stranger no more.
Tony Bennett had a tough time at the end of World War 2. Read up about some of the gruesome jobs he had to do. A nice man and look at some of the beautiful paintings he has produced. Superstar. 😃

I think Tony *Martin's* version is better IMO, but this is still brilliant. Shame Tony Martin's version is so overlooked. The versions by Gordon MacRae, Johnny Mathis, Matt Monro and Vic Damone are also great.
Such a Beautiful song By Tony Bennett as it was major hit for him Called A Stranger In Paradise such a timeless Classic single from 1954
Great song.
Oh, Antonio! I could listen to this on repeat. Tony's voice, his phrasing...wow. I don't care how many twists and turns the world of music makes, classics will always be classics because of the sheer beauty, and because romance never dies.
This was in the Juke Box in the Naffi when I was at No 8 Training Battalion REME in 1955, Taunton Somerset. What a bleak camp that was where I always visualise it in darkness.
To Barry Archer,
I agree with you and the language on this wonderful utube is appalling , I am sure these people had no education.. I personally love all this sort of music, it's the sort I listened to on a vintage wooden proper wireless..
I have heard other singers performing this beautifull song, but none of them do it so smoothly and amaizingly as Tony Bennet. It's breathtaking!!
Luiz Chere Julio Iglesias also sings it in Spanish. The song is called "Quiéreme".

Its true. Its like listening someone cover sinatra, its just not the same. Something is lost in translation
at 0:38 he looks just like Dustin Hoffman
You know what i hate most of all on youtube? Not the people critizizing this video, but the other people saying you shouldn't! Now i love this version, but if i didn't like it, why couldn't I say i don't like it? That would be my personal opinion, that's what the comment section is for! Ok, i'm not talking about trolls that say stupid things to annoy people, but I hate those answers on comments like: If You don't like it, then don't watch the video. How are you supposed to know if you like the video before watching!? And after watching, couldn't i just say i thought personally it was less good, or even bad?
Sorry if i come accros as a dick, but we live in a world where people have the right to say what they think, so why not on Youtube?
Lovely. Just lovely.
Hvala.Veoma lepa melodija.
This was a bit hit in the uk as it one of the songs in the musicla Kismet
Is this translation of the russian text or is it not related?
Lyrics are not related, yes
thank you russia and mr. borodin, what a great composer!
I felt it was familar.
do you like borodin's music?
I'm really more jazz. I play guitar and sax. This piece is in one of the jazz fake boks
I can appreciate the classical and romantic eras, and opera. And a good melodist.
But I prefer XXe century music, Impressionists (9th, major 7th, whole tone scales), the Vienna school and more contemporary music.
Oh, its just very funy) The original author is Aleksandr Borodin (1869)
Da, No mention of Borodin in the Real Book V. Or of Debussy in My reverie in the same book.
Borodin lived and created almost before Debussy. Borodin is the original composer.
Just a few minutes ago I listened to the original melody composed by Borodin...performed by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Herbert von Karajan. Such a beautiful melody that transcended into popular music. Bennett's interpretation is very good. Thanks for uploading.
So did I, and came here to listen Tony
Thanks Gaga, for show me this man!
Io, straniero.

One of the first songs my Mother taught me sing.
Nobody else can sing this song!
This melody is by A. Borodin - Polovtsian Dances!!!!
Love this man, best version of this ever
Lovely memories of this song and the singer.
great timeless record
FOR GWEN
after listening to a tony Bennett interview I found him to be less than generous about modern music in general I found him to be elitist I prefer matt munro
Isnt it sad how people have to criticise performers especially some one of Tony Bennets calibre...please, please dont just be a critic....Just post your version of the song or performance and let us compare then that way we can see if your really in a position to critisize or just talking bollocks (pardon my french)
im pretty certain 'bollocks' is not a word the french use as part of their language, so nothing to apologise for!

Barry Archer ,Well said 👍
Well said Barry 👍
Song is already a legend.
Ernest Lundy -you left out an r. The name is Borodin as I'm sure you know. Will Hung - Both Andy Williams and Tony Bennett are great singers- my guess is that out of the 3 of you you are the poorest singer - and the poorest - which is no disgrace; but it ill-behoves you to insult fine singers. Why do stupid people try to turn everything into a contest?
very aweful
tony bennett is really a awful singer
tony bennett is bland swing
tony bennett is a singer past his prime, I would admit, but listen to his recordings made when he wasn't an old man. Like Andy Williams he should have stopped by now, but to classify him as an awful singer is over the top. Listen to him as a young man and you may realise that he had a fantastic voice. If you think he's awful, can you do better; if so, post it and then we can all tell you what we think of your voice.
A person who sings for money stops singing when he no longer can do what he used to. A person who truly loves singing and music will continue to do it until he dies.
man at 1:20 he looks like a older Robert deniro
This was the first time I heard Tony Bennett, and have loved his voice ever since.
