It was a sign on the Mutual of New York building in 1968. When Tommy James and his songwriting partner went out onto the terrace of his apartment to take a cigarette break, they saw the sign flashing and a title was born.

I remember most all of them!

Nehru jacket and love beads. Remember them well. I got some when I was 14. They really rocked out this song and I can't remember who did a remake but that was cool, too. Love those old days. I'm 69 now but still dancing my ass off.

One of my favourite records of all time. It was well out of the charts in the mid 70's when we went to our local disco, but Mony Mony was a huge favourite and always got everyone on their feet! Wonderful memories!

Weird guys. But they were pretty damned good!

In an interview Tommy James said he and the band never received one penny of royalties from record sales. The label was run by the mafia and they kept all the money. They were only able to make money from touring.

Hopefully they get the royalties now as both writer and performers. The writing royalties would be more since they get those for the Billy Idol version

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame used to be something that had credibility and deserved Merit. However over the last 10 years or so it has become a farce. Why is it that Tommy James and the Shondells have not been admitted? And the same goes for the group WAR? if I am correct I don't think they have been admitted. Many, many others deserve entry as well.

Does anybody know, what exactly is Mony Mony? Is it a girls name? Have to do with Money, Pony or a combination? What is it?
