    I've always wondered how they get that multi-note popping sound effect on the last two stanzas of the song. Couldn't figure it out at 8 years old in'67 and can't now either!

    Philip Collins I took a number of years of piano lessons, and I believe they’re playing one note and then playing the same note an octave higher, as they do the popping rhythm, in alternating between the two notes.

    This hit by Tommy James and The Shondells hit #25 on the Top 40 charts and #21 in Canada. I saw Tommy James in May 1980 at the Carowinds Amusement Park Paladium near the NC/SC border near Charlotte.
