Tom Waits - A Good Man Is Hard To Find Lyrics
A good man is hard to find
Only strangers sleep in my bed
My favorite words are good-bye
And my favorite color is red
It's seventeen black and twenty-nine red
How far from the gutter; how far from the pew
I'll always remember to forget about you
A good man is hard to find
Only strangers sleep in my bed
My favorite words are good-bye
And my favorite color is red
A long dead soldier looks out from the frame
remembers his name
Go out to the meadow; scare off all the crows
It does nothing but rain here, and nothing
will grow
A good man is hard to find
Only strangers sleep in my bed
My favorite words are good-bye
And my favorite color is red

Tom Waits A Good Man Is Hard To Find Comments
I LOVE THE LINE:"NOTHING WRONG WITH HER THAT A HUNDRED DOLLARS WOULDN'T FIX."
riding drunk in a carrousell on a burlesque dream
Tom is superb with lyrics, instrument choices and down and out, alley cat , depression era vocals!
Unique man!
Thanks!!!
One of the many reasons why he's one of my favourite artists.
This song puts me in a good mellow mood. Thanks, Tom.
My wife can't stand Tom; so, guess what song I have waiting on YT when she starts singing in the kitchen?
I'm just listening to this after reading the actual short story. I gotta say, that story is really something.
I wanted to find, "I will always remember to forget about you!" Here it is
I'll always remember to forget you.
This song is the depressed, nihilistic, alcoholic cousin of What a Wonderful World.
holy fuck
It does, Patricio Fernandez. Also, it sounds decades older somehow.
thank you lol
It's not nihilistic. It's tragic, but not nihilistic.
All this album is a trip, where I transport myself to recondite places with that voice, the instruments and the melodies resonate
nice job ol boy
i really love the trument solo great job
i love it
very nice when youre driven in the country side with a 420
This is a lot better than the remaster.
This album is overflowing with beautiful uglyness and happy pessimism. Just look at the song titles: Everything Goes to Hell, Misery is the River of the World, God's Away on Business, A Good Man is Hard to Find. Doesn't get more cheerfully nihilistic than that.
A grown up song for grown up people, a grown up singer for grown up fans. It is one thing to have millions of fans who are 11 yrs old and another thing entirely to have a smaller amount of fans who are mature and appreciative of, and mesmerised by, good clever lyrics rather than be hypnotised by the beat of the tom-toms.
But there is room for all types of different music and viva la difference. Imagine...if we only had teeny bopper music to listen too. There are only two music genres that I don't care for, but I won't say what, because I don't want to offend any rap or grunge metal fans. :) ;)
Fuck rap! Its degenerate.
except for one thing..... Tom Waits doesn't wanna grow up.
T Jones oh my god i wish i made that comment looool
This is very clichéd to say, but this is an amazing ending to an amazing album
man this its a masterpiece album
@Leonidas the king B172018
Easily one of my favorites
I love this song. The trumpet, too, especially at 1:50 - it sounds like the trumpet's some drunk man stumbling through the city night, turning in circles, reflected in his sound.
great truth
i can listen to tomwaits no matter what the reason is
Kamran Taherkhani how about your lady love cheating on you? because that's why I'm here
Daniel Atwood, I am so sorry to hear it man.

The thing about Tom is that once you get to know him he never leaves _
it´s so good, like a the fallin rain in a broken heart of a dead inside
love you man
"She would've been a good woman," The Misfit said, "if it had been somebody there to shoot her every minute of her life."
Go out to the meadow, stare out at the sky, always remember, I love you, but know not why.
iyi adam bulmak zor mud iyo, bi de beceriksizliklerine alkış bekleyenler var o aklıma geldi, her tarafı bok ettim nasıl olmuş diye bakan köpekler gibi
Nobody plays the out of tune toy piano better than Tom Waits!
You go that right baby... wow he's ike a kid in a candy store. WELL PUT.
@Zachariah Seabloom I love you, Baby!
more classic Waits.I'll always remember to forget about you classic
Brother, you are beautiful!!
Thank god for Richard Rider.
;)))))))
I love you Tom!
My translation for this song right now: A hard man is good to find. Just in that mood...
Best. Comment. Ever.
I love Tom Waits. I hope he releases a new album soon.
who is playing that sax?
It's a trumpet, son.
i love you man!!you are the best songwriter..the best story-teller!!
i sincerely wish you could live forever!
I will always remember to forget about you! you said all the things that i needed to express with one sentence!
thank you, Praguedive, Tom Waits say!
you need help
Back when this album came out simultaneously with "Alice", I was really struggling on a shoe-string budget, just to get enough to eat that month.
I couldn't help but buy both albums. I may have been hungry, but I had the music! :D
A balls kicking song by Tom. Typical of his genius
Happy birthday...
I would alwaus remember to forget about you ;)
in desperate need of immediate medical attention!
Gloriously melancholic.
ppl lookup the song Morphine - a good woman is hard to find
i found the resemblance of the titles amusing
considering that both Tom waits and Mark Sandman are exceptional artists
Music is all we got!
She woulda been a good woman if there was someone there to shoot her every minute of her life.
Simply put, Tom Waits... I love you. You make the rainiest days just a little bit worse, but in a bittersweet way.
Love it, just love it. My favorite song of Tom Waits, maybe my favorite song of all time.
Hang in there, man!!
My girl left me
My dog died
I failed my exams
My life is falling apart around me
But with a cigarette in one hand and a glass of whiskey in the other
And this song
Everything feels
Ok
Hope it still does. :-)
Good that your dog died, at least. Look at the bright side.
Tom Waits and Flannerey O'Connor seem to go together well.
The trumpet solo is my favorite piece of music ever. At it's apex, a pump organ or something like it goes "too too" and get a rush through my whole body. Blood Money is his best album. "Hoist That Rag" and "Coney Island Baby" are both so good. And there's that trumpet again on Coney Island Baby.
@1953SM This is great drinking music.
Man, I've been drinking whiskey shots and beer all night listening to all his songs and entranced and my voice is still not sounding like his but is sore from singing along.Lol!! I smoked since I was 11 yrs. old and quit 9 yrs ago at 49 and probably just as well .
wicket
@svedbro
Amen to that:)
Sounds like a damn monster getting stabbed in the testes with a stick
F N AMAZIN TOM!'-
wow, I can't stand that voice...
When Louis Armstrong Died .He was buried in Tom Waits mouth.
steinsteel BRILLIANT
@Praguedive. Bloodmoney: 2002 and not 2000.
@danmanatwood fuckin rite, mate!
"I'll always remember to forget about you...and my favorite words are good-bye
and my favorite color is red"
If I could be ANYONE else besides me this is the man!
@schclum Gun Street Girl, Alice, Swordfishtrombone, Dead and Lovely, Yesterday is Here, Picture in a Frame and literally a hundred others. Man, you haven't been looking! There's quite a lot of different voices he uses, also more recently. Allthough i must admit, when i saw him perform around 2005, i was a bit disappointed that he used his deepest, most violent growl, more or less the whole concert through.
"I will allways remember to forget about you..."
<3 Tom <3
Darkest album... fucking love it!
Tom Waits = Louis Armstrong and Randy Newman x 100,000,000,000,000
I will always remember to forget about you. My favorite line
I'm thinkin Tom is a recession version of the great Louis Armstrong.. nothin to do with
'satan' .. but a briefcase full of real blues, yeah. and that trumpet solo, or is it a coronet? for the world now..
IF satan and louie armstrong had a kid.. lol. love it
is this the only song on the album he sings in this style... i notice he sings clean in closing time and heart of saturday night, nighthawks at the diner he has this cool rasp, on small change he just sounds silly, as for the rest of his albums after that.
except this song... this is his only song past 1976 that ive heard him sing without that stupid growl that i know... anyone else know any others?
I used this song to teach English to Siberians.
The students hated it at first. And hated it even more when they superficially saw the words of the translations. But when it came to the metaphors and to understanding the meanings, their eyes lit up and they, each and every one, fell in love with this song and wanted to hear it over and over. And then, when they got their mitts on it themselves and proudly took it home to Mama & Papa, I almost lost my job to this beautiful prostitute music.
@unoriginal95 good luck man
@trje246 thanks :]
@JesterPoetryArtVlogs - Ara Anderson is on trumpet here, Waits; Vocal, Pump organ and Calliope on THIS particular song. :o)
is waits playing the trumpet?
Utterly breathtaking.
Great song!
...and my favorite words are good' bye...
i know his voice is so fuckin sick =D
Finally someone uploaded this great song!!!
