Tom T. Hall - Joe, Don't Let Your Music Kill You Lyrics
Joe don't let your music kill ya
It's a thing that supposed to fill ya
It's a thing that supposed to make you happy
Taking pills and drinking whiskey picking can be mighty risky
Joe don't let your music kill ya nobody cares
That song that you've been singing it's not what you think
I know you've seen some sunny days
You love your music but you love your life
And there's nothing silent like a grave
Joe don't let your music kill ya
It's a thing that supposed to fill ya
It's a thing that supposed to make you happy
Taking pills and drinking whiskey picking can be mighty risky
Joe don't let your music kill ya nobody cares
Hunger can be killed with a can of beans
Don't let 'em tell you that I'm wrong
You got a good woman and she's got her dreams
Don't hang your life up for a song
Joe don't let your music kill ya
It's a thing that supposed to fill ya
It's a thing that supposed to make you happy
Taking pills and drinking whiskey picking can be mighty risky
Joe don't let your music kill ya nobody cares
Joe don't let your music kill ya
It's a thing that supposed to fill ya
It's a thing that supposed to make you happy
Taking pills and drinking whiskey picking can be mighty risky
Joe don't let your music kill ya nobody cares

Love this song
Tom T. did so much to bring Shaver to the front as one of America's greatest songwriters. Waylon followed Tom's lead by recording lots of Shaver's songs.
I have always love the singer songwriter.
Thumbs up if Damu the Fudgemunk brought you here! Peace.
stephen spoler I was referring to a guy with hat and guitar in the front row in the live show thank you.

stephen spolar
thank you Stephan spoler
question, who is the guy in the front row with the guitar
+Dwane Long - I believe you must be referring to the pic of Tom T. Hall performing at the White House? In any case, that is Tom T. Hall performing while President Carter was in office. All pics of somebody playing the guitar in my video are pics of Tom T. Hall.
nope 11 13 slate falls road
This Tom T. Hall is nothing short of brilliant, from stem to stern: He can have a beautiful voice along with terrific singing. But, oh is his songwriting just utter perfection. The terseness, the painful subtlety, the tenderness and insight. I wish I could tell him how deeply his music speaks to my soul: I Wash My Hands In The Morning Dew, Whose Gonna Feed Them Hogs, Clayton Delaney, Pamela Brown, That's How I got To Memphis, Beauty is a Fading Flower, and on and no and on nearly forever.
Amongst He, Merle Haggard, Johnny Paycheck, Keith Whitley and but a few others...absolute gems a a whole universe of goodness and extraordinary.
Nolens, I am confident that Mr. Hall would be very pleased to hear from you. He wrote and still writes about the comman man and has never thought of himself to be above or better than anybody. This is why he can find a story that touches your soul in people and things most people fail or take the time to notice because, they are either too busy making a living or just too self absorbed to care. I have realized how fortunate we all are that Tom T. Hall has selflessly taken the time to acknowledge these people, places and things for us from the day he arrived in Nashville on January 1, 1964 to present day. I also realized that we are twice as fortunate Tom T. posesses the talent and the gift necessary to chronicle these stories in songs that can and will challenge the hardest of hearts to remain closed if given the chance to, not just listen, but to hear the depth instilled in everything he writes, as he is a master of word choice and phrasing. I do not impress easily - Tom T. Hall easily impresses me without fail. He has a P.O. box in Franklin, TN, but I do not remember it offhand. The physical address of his Fox Hollow estate in Franklin, TN is 2250 S. Berrys Chapel Road, Franklin TN 37069. Many years ago, while Tom T. was still touring, I sent him a short letter and he personally responded with a handwritten postcard that included a personal letter thanking me for going all the way to Reno from San Francisco to see his show at John Ascuaga's Nugget. His message was not a short "good luck" wish with a quick autograph and he also stated f4 see e sea "fans like me made it all worthwhile". Time is the most valuable thing we all have and yet Mr. Hall, who had more obligations that consumed more of his time than most, still afforded me enough of his time to personally express his gratitude towards fans like me. Tom T Hall's wife, Miss Dixie as he called her, of 46 years, recently passed away in January of a brain tumor. It goes without saying that this is a difficult time for Tom T. and a letter similar to your comment that expresses the admiration you have for him and his work, would surely help him get thru the loss of his wife. Thanks for your comment and I apologize for the long winded reply
nor have i and have been labled and if they proceed they wear a pryex white bowl for a necklace smashed open on the middle as a necklace
Any idea who he's supposed to be talking to?
Although I am not sure of the facts, I have heard that Tom T. Hall is referring to Billy Joe Shaver in the song.
+Steven Spolar I've always heard that it was Billy Joe Shaver.
It's Billy Joe Shaver.
Maybe to Tomy Wright...?
