Tom Robinson - Disrespect Lyrics

Well the crunch is coming
And it won't be long
You think you know the future
But you're so, so wrong

For love and comfort
You can lean on me
But your life's your own
Your own responsibility

You sit there wasted
And you drink all day
You cruise the kennels
And go all the way

Please, please, please
Don't disrespect yourself

Well the crunch is coming
You abuse your brain
Your God given body
And your own good name

Take the risk of winning
Stand up, be strong
To those brutal losers
You gotta prove them wrong

You've been mistreated
And you've been abused
But that's all over
If you only choose, I said

Please, please, please
Please, please, please
Please, please, please
Don't disrespect yourself

Relax, every thing's alright
Right here, right now
In this room tonight

Take a great leap forward
Walk on, be free
I believe in you
Can you believe in me?

Take my arm
I wanna touch your hand
Wanna hold your shoulder
I can be your man

Please, please, please
Please, please, please
Please, please, please
Don't disrespect yourself

  23. M.... N....

I wonder if the trial would’ve gone differently if the judge had requested her father to be out of the room when she testified

  24. P.... P....

Someone tried to treat me like that before in my hometown in to kill a mockingbird, when I was trying to invite a nice person to church and called the police on me in an unnecessary way by taking advantage of my hospitality of not letting me explain what the church is about since then I worked with people with mental, physical, intellectual and emotional disabilities, and I did some thinking who do people think they are treating people who were boy scouts like that. You don't treat nice people like that who are apart of a university by blood. Don't put people in situations that they never been in before. Because that person could've been helpful or made a friend by hearing that gentleman out first with common sense. I introduced myself by being polite and respectful because I know by fact she has never heard of w&l or Lexington before just to be honest my aunt has been a part of the inclusion department since the 60's way before the little kiddies and some of the staff, administration, faculty but some have been there. You see us Poindexter's have been apart of this campus for along time we worked and went to school here. Because I felt disrespected and put in a tough situation and people accused me of ridiculous things under uncomfortable circumstances from throwing names babble, avoiding people neglecting, sexual harassment that I find dishonorable from wearing a uniform, disgusted in how some people act towards others, last time I checked it was a legal matter that I learned from my Cousin Officer Lesley Cauthern from the Prince George Maryland Police Department because they are sinners without thinking thing's through. And another thing no one never did stood up for me for nothing just by hiding behind there desk's and I never used nobody only for example just like the elementary school.

  25. K.... E....

This lady acts like a crackhead

  26. K.... E....

This woman took crack before this scene

  27. A.... H....

    love this movie

  28. I.... A....

Why doesn’t she have any black eyes or anything I’m still very confused about that😂

  29. S.... ....

We r doin a tea party thing and we pick characters to be and I picked Atticus

  30. I.... ....

Who else is in english class watching this on their phone, hiding it behind your book

  31. S.... ....

I hate to say it, I kinda miss highschool lol. I learned so much, yet so little.

  32. A.... K....

Poor Mayella. She only wanted the BBC

  33. B.... F....

They need to make a remake or make this movie in color

  34. O.... A....

who’s reading this in english 😂😂

    O.... A....

    "Now that's a subject I haven't taken in a long time. A long time."

  35. B.... B....

Reminds me of the infamous Klingon show trial in the film "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country".

  36. S.... g....

Ngl Mayella looks about the same age as Atticus, even though she was stated to be 19, either that’s a good thing for Atticus or a bad thing for mayella

  37. N.... B....

I struggle to wonder if the Academy was write to pick Gregorey Peck over Peter O Toole that year.

  38. C.... G....

    Qué mala actriz por favor!

    C.... G....

eres la única que piensa así.

  39. O.... ....

Mayella says that Atticus and all the other gentlemen are cowards but the REAL cowards are her and her horrible father

  40. G.... O....

    Damn Atticus's voice is 🔥🔥🔥🔥

  41. I.... j....

    Massively underrated one-handed catch.

  42. F.... ....

The acting from everyone in this scene was awesome and terrifying

  43. Y.... T....

When my class doesn't agree with me on a question: 2:05

  44. D.... C....

1:01. Does anybody notice a certain actor who is playing the judge?

  45. K.... R....

    Good Mornig America!

  46. P.... D....

Kind of an anti metoo statement

    P.... D....

How? Not trying to be rude btw

  47. e.... a....

There are witnesses that Gregory Peck may have been kind and a warm soul but that he was stubborn, pedantic and self righteous too. He forced all nominees to be present in one of the '60s Oscar ceremonies because as president he believed they had to.

  48. S.... m....

    Way too many commercials

  49. R.... A....

Poster: "Not Suitable for Children". Though required reading in children's schools all over the world. smh

  50. J.... J....

We all know that woman is lying

  51. D.... B....

this is a book my mom gave me and i didn’t want to read it at first but i ended up loving it!

  52. H.... X....

Its amazing how i imagined Atticus pretty much just like this when i read the novel.

  53. H.... X....

    Mr.Finch is fine !

  54. T.... ....

The judge is my nanny’s great great uncle

  55. B.... ....

And it's still happening today, even now with Shawn Rohden being accused.. What Atticus does here is reveal the true importance that "due process" and "Innocent until proven guilty" have in the justice system.

  56. M.... /....

Kavanaugh and cristian Ford in a nutshell

  57. P.... P....

The late, great actress Collin Wilcox Paxton as Mayella.
"I had known girls from that kind of background. [At the audition] all the other girls trying out for the part were overly made up; they had curly, clean hair and wore brassieres and high heels. I wore a secondhand dress, tennis shoes with holes in them, and dirty little white socks. I rubbed cold cream through my hair--and that's why my hair looked so dirty -- CWP, reflecting on her role as "Mayella" in the film To Kill a Mockingbird (1962).
" She deserved an Oscar nomination or golden globe nomination, but received neither.

I remember reading this book and fangirling about what a badass Atticus was.

  75. P.... D....

glad to see I’m not the only one who’s attracted to Atticus 😂

  76. e.... ....

I would suck the soul out of Atticus

  77. a.... s....

mayella would not have been so defensive if she had nothing to hide.

  78. D.... H....

  82. E.... P....

I want Atticus to read to me at night 🤤

  83. J.... R....

This is one of those movie scenes that sticks with me. No wonder Harper Lee never wanted another movie version besides this.

  84. A.... R....

nnnnnanana why Tom got 2 arms isn’t one severed

  87. S.... L....

Isn’t it obvious that mayella was lying 🤥 I suspect that her father was the one who whooped her🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

  88. K.... W....

I don't like the girl because she is lying

  89. D.... C....

This entire movie was so wonderful. It remains one of my top 5 to this day in my 47 years in this planet. Atticus reminds me of my own father.

  90. M.... R....

Victim blaming AND the n word AND law glorifying. Woah what a crappy movie

    M.... R....

    explain

    M.... R....

Mayella isn’t the victim here. And in him crow 30’s, yeah, the N word was thrown around a lot to describe black people.

  91. M.... G....

But it said in the book that Tom's left hand is 12 inches shorter than the other.

  92. L.... C....

Im irish. Dont know why Im here but I am anyways...

  93. R.... P....

I am in a dilemma, should I like this video because the movie and acting were great or do I dislike it because of Mayella being a b!tch?

  94. S.... ....

So, she got caught in a lie. Then she panicked and threw a tantrum to deflect attention from the fact that she lied.

  95. b.... s....

Whoa... I didn't think Scout was crazy...

    b.... s....

    that's... not Scout...

    b.... s....

    Hem... That's Mayella Ewell... 😑

  96. I.... V....

Mayella looks a little too old to be 19 according to the book....

    I.... V....

According to my calculations, the actress who played Mayella was actually about 28 years old when this movie came out. She was born in 1935, and this movie came out in 1963.

  97. L.... K....

It'd be funny if he didn't catch it the first time.

  98. L.... H....
