Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers All Mixed Up Comments
  1. B.... W....

I just discovered this album. It is my new favorite! How did I not know about the song, "all mixed up."

Hi Kevin Kingrey right there with you. My miniscule problem (and there are more than one album which didn't get credit; Long After Dark was just one) is that song is in the archives. Don't know if your view point is similar to mine but if it's in the archives it means Tom and probably Mike were not happy with it at the time. I know Dana was the love of his life; not invested in biography unless important, certainly that relationship remains so, but what she brought to the table was endless enthusiasm about the Heartbreakers' corpus; her timing was great because he had begun to question himself way too much but now that he is gone who is minding the candy store? The shameful Adria/Dana lawsuit should never have happened and to this day don't exactly know how For Real became available; certainly because of his daughter's brilliant editing ability; we hear this through her lense, usually really insightful but I'm a Daddy's girl too and know where those limits lie. What I like so much about responses to this music is the number of guys that comment. Nothing worse than a female fan mooning over photos of someone when they were 20. My stuff; he was a deep friend to people when alive and remains so now. Was a ramble, tx for patience.

    I LIKE the sangin’!

  4. c.... j....

I have never heard over this album, I thought I already heard all of his songs..

    c.... j....

I wish I could hear this album again for the first time. Enjoy this buried treasure.

corum johnson One of my favorites

I hear you; always something new, which is great. Which by the way (on a soap box tonight … doesn't happen either with the Rolling Stones, or Nobel prize or not, Bob Dylan. The funniest thing Tom ever said was in defence of his hero, 'Once you get over his bobness, he's a human being' -- still find that hilarious.

  5. T.... T....

And here I thought it was an old Elvis Presley tune?

  6. A.... H....

This is his most underrated album.

    A.... H....

Anthony Hawk That's what they said on it. I thought this was excellent!!

  7. D.... G....

softer on the edges like a lot of mid 1980s rock and that is a good thing.

    D.... G....

    |Intriguing comment; the '80s for tom meant Dave Stewart and a broken hand and Dylan tour … this is just me but nothing good came out of the '80s but Annie Lennox and David Bowie. My opinion, cheers my friend. Softer on the edges … someone wrote that Tom was a wannabe Bob Dylan which I admit annoyed me; as a consummate musician yes he unconsciously mimicked people he admired but if you look at his albums; whoah!! The style changes every time. He always aimed for concept albums; in the case of Southern Accents it fell apart and yet the 30th anniversary tour was triumphant, never mind him wrapping himself in the confederate flag. Could go on and on married to a musician, think I said what I felt.

  8. K.... K....

One of my top 5 favorite Petty songs. And there are a lot of them...This record does not get the kind of credit it deserves. I bought it right when it first came out, and have always felt like the songs on it were super creative and meaningful.

Kevin Kingrey One of their best albums!! The singin’ is GOOD! I LIKE tha sangin’!

  9. D.... G....

I'm all mixed up about slot of people

  10. a.... c....

    I love it

  11. D.... ....

    No music like this anymore....

    D.... ....

degree7 Nope, gone with the wind, like Tuesday.

  12. M.... P....

"I like the clappy" absolutely outstanding.

  13. R.... L....

Playing slightly too fast - but it is clear

    R.... L....

@Ronnie Larsen This was from the CD, so any slightly too fast would be the guys playing or something that happened in the mix, not my doing. Cheers!

    R.... L....

Ronnie Larsen Hold the sangin’, just the handclap! Lol. It is about half a click sped up though sounds like, yep.

    R.... L....

Hi Ronnie Larsen my sis is a recording artist; this is recorded with Stan Lynch which is bad and also good; the tempo not a problem for me. Colette (sis) produced a cover she did for Fire and Rain and also See You Again by Charlie Pouf (sp?) which she had to re-record because she was a semi-tone off; that means something in the studio.

  14. L.... W....

@trfesok No problem. :) No, it was from a CD. The albums are on CDs as well. -RockyRevolt in another account. lol
