Tom Jones - Two Brothers Lyrics

Two brothers on their way
Two brothers on their way
Two brothers on their way
One wore blue
And one wore grey

One wore blue and one wore grey
As they marched along the way
A fife and drum began to play
All on a beautiful morning

One was gentle, one was kind
One was gentle, one was kind
One came home, one stayed behind
A cannonball don't pay no mind

A cannonball don't pay no mind
Though you're gentle or you're kind
It don't think of the folks behind
All on a beautiful morning

Two girls waiting by the railroad track
Two girls waiting by the railroad track
For their darlings to come back
One wore blue, and one wore black

One wore blue, and one wore black
Waiting by the railroad track
For their darlings to come back
All on a beautiful morning

One wore blue, and one wore black
Waiting by the railroad track
For their darlings to come back
All on a beautiful morning

All on a beautiful morning

Tom Jones Two Brothers Comments
  1. Outskirts of Infinity

My country nearly tore itself apart, once. It won’t happen, again.

I've heard the remake of this song Chris Stapleton put out. That is truly an amazing, great song.I listen to this song, and heard for the first time two Dad's waiting by the railroad track for their darlings to come back. it made me cry. It hurt me truly, deeply in my soul. Wow. What a horrible thing.

    Pat2296

It's actually "Two gals" but yeah, horrible with a staggering loss of lives.

Tom Jones did this song in 1969 on his live TV show, but it was not
pictures, it was a full stage set. It got an Emmy for best costumes!
It really stuck in my mind all these years, because it was so impressive
on my new 13" Admiral color TV. Tom Jones was dressed as a Confederate
soldier and had a sizeable group on stage all in magnificent costumes
and stage design, as well as camera angles. Since it was live, it may
not have been taped, which would be a shame. I was 22 years old at the
time, gosh I would have those times again. I hope someone can find that
    program and post it here.

Sra o Look deeply, I've found many Tom Jones treasures on here. Sadly they get taken down a lot

I did see that one on a site on YouTube.  I also remember seeing it from his show'

    Do you Remember Jim Croce?

Tom was dressed as both brothers-one Union, one Confederate. A double was used when both were in the scene. I loved it. The song tells the story of The Civil War so vividly.

    Dos hermanos que se van
    El tambor sonando está
    Dos hermanos que se van
    Sin saber si volverán

    Dos hermanos bajo el sol
    Hacia el frente partirán
    Dos hermanos que se van
    Sin saber si volverán

    Dos hermanos que se van
    Con sus ansias de pelear
    Dos hermanos que se van
    El clarín sonando está

    Uno de color azul
    Su uniforme debe usar
    Pero el otro sin pensar
    http://www.coveralia.com/letras/dos-hermanos--two-brothers--sandro.php

I hope people remember the cost before they allow this foolishness to repeat.

    Hugh Wilson

    Amen to that

    Joshua Wilson

    I'll second that

    snow1snow1

I was trying to figure out how to say the very same thing you just said. Why do they want to do it again?
