Tom Jones - Danny Boy Lyrics

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying
If I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.
And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be
For ye shall bend and tell me that you love me
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me.

❤❤❤😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Great performance, probably his most soulful. Too bad he choked at the end and couldn't sustain the high note. Overall, brilliant.

He had a bad cold that night.

From Feb 1968 performance on US TV Ed Sullivan Show. Tom was given 3 segments that night, kicking off the show with a run through of his first big hit "It's Not Unusual" before debuting "Delilah" on US TV in the middle of the show. He closed the night with this epic blues laden re do of the vintage folk ballad

TOM JONES You The Best!!! WOW!!

Yeah, many of we Brits think that an ancestor -a sailor who survived the sinking of the Armada - made it to Wales and had progeny. There were many blackamoores and Black Portuguese on board, some of whom made it to Ireland , others Wales and many drowned
