As the Song Sheet, being saying good bye to the big league and Mr. Canada hockey puck, never said I was apart of any of the music I originated on Vancouver Island, I just say it exists. Thing you learn about Canada and hockey puck, it is NOT apart of Universal Mass Distribution Music(UMDM), it is about Hockey Night in Canada and the CBC, never fucking again do I need Canada and its hockey puck in UMDM music. The energy death Canada brought to my life is about 3x more fatal then the headoner at 70MPH depicted on the song. Allanah Myles and myself are good examples of what happens to your life thinking Canada is something other then CBC hockey puck music.

A very Canadian song that is at the same time relevant to the sporting culture everywhere. I read about several American teams, including one in Texas, that think the song was written about tragedies in their past.

Great song but unfortunately it was not written about George Pelawa as the description says and is often claimed.  Cochrane has stated himself that the song is a true story, but not about Pelawa. There have been many story's about who or what was the inspiration for the song but Cochrane has never revealed the true story. What he has said to the National Post on Mar 19 2018 in Toronto when discussing the song is that "he couldn't even remember the guys name but that he was a custodian in a rink up north". Again he was saying this from Toronto and referring to north as being north of their location.  He continued by saying the gentleman said "my boy is a big fan of Boy Inside The Man" in which Cochrane replied "is he coming to the show cause we are playing it tonight". The man then replied "no he passed away and was an aspiring hockey player".  So who the song was really about I don't believe will ever be known. That said I think it applies to every tragedy of this kind.

This accident hit close to home to so many hockey families. It's devastating and I just can't imagine how those towns are coping. It was really decent of Cochrane to allow them to use the song however they wish.

@Thinker , you name is literally thinker so it is beyond me how you can say that little change will happen. 16 young men died that night and yes whereas the physical change will be little the emotional and mental impact is massive. Take a moment to think before you say that 16 lives will change little. I personally don't play hockey but I know many who do and if anyone of them were on that bus I would be a wreak right now. So I can't even begin to fathom how the families of those boys feel, imagine if your family and friends were on that bus. imagine how hard that would hurt you emotionally. That's how we all felt that night and how many of us still feel. So please, think before you speak

This is the song I immediately thought of when I heard of the tragic events of the Humboldt Broncos! Praying for them and all of their families. Tom Cochrane I don't know how you do it but you connect to the core of what it means to be Canadian.

From the audio of a crummy tv, I instantly loved the song. From the very beginning of the song.
Great music and vocals. Knew nothing about the story until years later.
When I found out about the story, it just broke my heart. I still listen to the song every now and then. Great song.

dont spread bullshit dude, this song is written in memory of someones son who past away in an accident that was caused by a truck driver who veared into the wrong lane. The son had earned a scholarship from playing hockey.
