Tokens, The He's In Town Comments
My vote goes to the Rockin' Berries. I prefer its plaintive simplicity and find the Tokens version a little too overproduced. Something in the fact that this was only a modest U.S. hit while the Berries hit the top 5 in the UK
I love both versions of "He's In Town". The Tokens and the Rockin' Berries. Living here in the USA I hadn't heard the Rockin' Berries version until more recent times.
Just found on u tube great music b p
This was the flip side of oh cathy. Both great songs. My parents had divorced in 63 after 20 years of marriage. I was 4 . When dad came back to visit us a couple times a year, Mom would play this alot.He moved to New York after the divorce. We were in California. When I got older. I got it. I still have this record and many others.
1963, not 1964, another great Carol King-Jerry Goffin tune.
I love this but prefer the simplicity and English sound of The Rockin’ Berries. Another Goffin / King classic though , they can do no wrong ❤️

I'm a Brit. Almost 70 years old. I always loved the Rockin' Berries version.. but I didn't know about the Tokens version. Sorry Berries.. The Tokens have it. Far better production, vocals, harmonies.. the works. One of my all time fave songs.
Awesome
I like this more than The Lion Sleeps Tonight..just my opinion.
Wasn't a huge hit but I always thought it was a pretty good song.
Nice one...
Jay can still do it live too......excellent singer
Jay Siegel so much better lead then the other one
And Jay STILL sounds great!
Would have been right for the Four Seasons.
Love this, still prefer the rock in berries though!
Nice song...The Berries version WAS superior...
For what it's worth , I too prefer the Berries less complex version...especially the quite brilliant bridge where , on this version , the spanish guitar is rather a distraction. Difficult to cock-up such a perfect melody though !!
Nic Flay So true! They even have slightly different lyrics
strange, this a slightly different version and not as good as the 45 rpm version I have bought in 64 ????
Hola muñequita linda
Love the Tokens, always have. Still remember Lion Sleeps Tonight.
I remember this song so well. I loved it.
These guys were great. Terrific song.
Still are. Jay Siegal is on the road all the time. Still sounds great.
the rockin' berries wss a nice version, but they didn't have the vocals or harmonies of the boys from brooklyn
i love both versions of the ROCKING BERRIES AND THE TOKEN ORIGINAL SONG... GREAT MUSIC OF THE GOOD OLD DAYS HAVE YOU LISTEN TO WHAT COME OVER ME IN THE WORLD BY ROCKING BERRIES OF POP GEAR 1965
always loved this song
