Madlib sampled this on an amazing beat "testin me" that he made for dudly perkins. It was one of my favorite , if not favorite piece of music as a high school student and then as a grown man i found todd and this song and then todd became my fav....amazing coincidence

Bloody fantastic cover art. Worth the price of the album just for the cover alone! Such art on the outside and lain down in those grooves way down on the inside. I used to use this album as a sort of litmus tests for my dates. If they didn't like it or didn't get it I knew right then things were not going to work

In May 2018 I shall attend my third TR concert in as many years. He and his troubadours always put on a fabulous show.
Among his many talents is the ability to compose works that are so different from each other in style, rhythm, content, etc. I am still shocked by his absence from the list of inductees into the Rock Hall of Fame .

He will get in the hall for what its worth one day. He expects he will after he dies. No big deal to him. But it is for most of us hard core fans.

Oh and I have probably seen him 70 times and have enjoyed everyone of those shows. Some more then others, but he always gives it his all.

There's a quality to Todd's voice that is so special. It's like he's been blessed by the angel Gabriel or something. I feel the same about Brian Wilson's voice. And Roberta Flack. They all have that celestial quality.

I've seen him live twice in the last 4 years! I don't really care for his newer material very much but he's still giving it 100% at his shows and seems like a good person. This song is one of the best.

Exactly. Can't understand why he didn't make it big here in the UK. He's twice as good as David Bowie, just as versatile, plays lots of instruments, put out at least twice Bowie's output in the same period if not three times if you count Utopia

I know exactly how you feel.  I used to have to turn off Todd when my live-in came home from work, thankfully I don't live that way anymore and my husband never says no to Todd concerts....Yep, know Runt and the Ballad of and Leroy.

This song is a rare example of how, sometimes, "MORE is more".
From a purely commercial standpoint, the song could have been faded out at 3:30 or 3:45. But no, it goes on for over four glorious minutes, and the more it repeats, the more hypnotic it becomes!
