😭😭😭 so beautiful with the strings
I'm a lost and struggling tea pot too😭
If I believed in God, I imagine that he would look down upon newborn children, and utter one word to define what the majority of their life will be, and to some, he says "suffer".
Don't worry. No one's there.
amazing song. I think it's about resilience and strength. There's a certain darkness about the song, reflected in both the sound and in the lyrics. Just wow!
Glen wrote most of the songs on “Coil“ during a six-month period of time when him and his wife lived in Olympia Washington. He was clinically depressed and nearly suicidal the entire time and that’s why all of the songs on the album are deeply dark and personal. he wrote 36 new songs and the band cut 10 of them for the album along with 7 older songs that fit thematically and then they used 12 of the 17 for the final album
One of their best song
The commonly understood "life is suffering" is a little misleading... the actual Buddhist principle is more akin to "life has suffering" or perhaps even more accurately "life has dissatisfaction". It's about the hedonistic treadmill that everyone is familiar with, and the escape route via seeing beyond the idea of having a personal self.
such a beautiful song, and such a shame that not more people have heard it
Toad had a bunch of excellent songs in the 90's, but this is above and beyond. This is a little masterpiece.
(((-Nice Channel and Video,.Greetings From Belgium-)))
life is suffering teehee haha. (:
We heard this song in Social Studies.now i listen to it all the time.
by the way.... it is actually about Siddhartha, or the Buddha.
yeah. thats right!
also i like this song the best out of the songs i listened to by them. the rest i thought were bad.
thanks to a very special ADVISORY (wink wink, nudge nudge)
Glen’s friend had a miniature golden Buddha on his mantle and he used to lift it up during parties and screech “life is suffering, tee-hee, ha-ha!” and Glen decided to write a joke song about that… But it turned out kind of dark. as for not liking the other songs that you listen to… I don’t know what the fuck you’re expecting. They are probably one of the best song writing bands that has ever existed and Glenn writes some of the most beautiful melodies I’ve ever heard in my life. Might I suggest you listen back with older ears and a wiser mind.
BEST SONG OFF ALL TIME! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! I A LOVE A THIS SONG SO MUCH!.....smile on little buddha! hiya!
@dennisjr77 it is possible to have those 'connections' and still not be attached to anything-
transcend the suffering......
buddism teaches about living a "non-attached" simple life, at least that's what I get from everything I've read about it. Kind of appealing at times!!! :)
Love this song! Toad is just a great band!
"you learn that the cause of suffering tends to be your own mind and to learn to live in the present moment" - that's it indeed =)
i love this song...but life is so much more than suffering, more than being lost, more than struggling. i look into my children's eyes and see all the hope i could ever need to prove that there is a future and a hope. life is also beautiful, joyful, laughing, creating, finding.

@stoutyoungladd one of the 4 noble truths of buddism, that's why they try to live a simple life to avoid "attachment" but it's inherent in human nature to form connections, just get attached to the "right things" :)
I love this song:)
Accept that life is suffering and you will avoid neurosis!! Buddha knew.....tee hee.....ha ha......
Good good song
This song is amazing!
