Tin Machine Heaven's In Here Comments
The problem with Tin Machine's first album is that it could be a Robert Palmer album from 1987. It's 2 years behind the times musically and in terms of their outfits .
Absolutely Brilliant.
So cool love the dissonant guitar sound..
I hear 'Liza Jane' at it's core
Too bad this is undersampled and presented here at 240p, and not higher resolution. The album sounds much better than this, with more definition at both ends of the audio spectrum (treble/clarity and bass).
Tarentino Suits
I want to like it but can't
Reeves was like a monster.A scary Monster...
Reeves en digne guitare héros se fait plaisir et triture ce morceau plutôt basic pour le retourner et en faire du lourd a la hauteur des Tin
Can someone explain to me why Tin Machine got so much bad press? They were fucking wonderful.
i love a great bass line. this is very MCcartney-ish (the real one)
'fark'n brilliant album'....!!! sincere thanks for posting 'n greetings from tasmania............................ somewhere south

Sheer brilliance ! ! !
This is one of my favourite albums, period. Rock? YES,! Jazz too, a la Mahavishnu Orchestra and neither would have been what they became without Miles Davis via Bitches Brew and Jack Johnson. This recording, lyrically and musically was so far ahead, many might hear it now for the first time and think it Avant- guard...and of course it was and still remains.
Had it on cassette when it was first released.
Excellent album.
Reeves Gabrels is marvellous!!
Always said that Bowie was a bluesman. "Heroes" is a kind of blues too. It fits him, as you can hear
Bought the album when released and was deeply impressed. Went to the concert two years later in Oct 1991 in Munich on a Saturday night at Circus Krone and thought this is it for Bowie. Didn't see hardly any other band with so much raw and pure energy on stage. They were too far ahead at their time. Never saw Bowie again and don't regret it.
Reeves Gabrels was the unsung hero of this project. That solo at the end is mind-blowing.
Should have been a Tin Machine 3.
I'm back!
This intro is lifted from JEAN GENIE.
Ethan Hill Eh? I don’t know what version of “The Jean Genie” you’re thinking of, but the intro to this is absolutely nothing like the original “Jean Genie”. The closest this comes to “Jean Genie” is the breakdown at 3:08!
Never had access to a computer and have been a fan of Bowie since the beginning.
When I come across something like this it is a wonderful gift!
Had it when it came out. Awesome piece of work
totally,great album
The most underrated period of Mr B's total output .
Tin machine were a rock band , a very good rock band ...and I would guess the people who profess to not like this album have never heard it ...( probably) ...
It is the closest Bowie ever got to being in a band again , problem was he was David Bowie and fans wanted some of the same .
Never to be one to sit still 'musically' this great album / band appeared in the late 80's and it sounded errr...different in so many ways ...
Young David had been absorbing some of the new indie bands coming out of the US.
Husker Du, Pixies to name a few...
The world hadn't woken up to the Grunge' mini boom as yet and with the Hunt Brothers and Reeves Gabriels the time seemed right for Tin Machine ...it wasn't ,
Radio , the public and an array of music journo's just didn't get it ...
If the album had been released as a Bowie album I think people may have accepted it better...
Now many years later we have the exact science of 'heindsight' to look back with ...
The first Tin Machine album is quite simply a great piece of work , a wonderful late 80's rock record .
We won't talk about Tin Machine 2 here ...it wouldn't be fare to compare the two ...surfice to say sometimes just once is enough .
...
Simon Actually, it is The Sales Brothers
Simon the second album was just as great, I received the first as bday gift and the second album when it dropped. Love them both to this day.
One of the best drummers. Nails his set down to the floor.
This song as a Diamond Dog album feel
even Bowie's side projects are top shelf.
320 Parks: That's an important point.
Iggy Pop was a side project. The three Iggy albums trump bought were Bowie side projects, namely Raw Power, Idiot and Lust for Life.
Mott the Hopple fucked up turning down Rebel Rebel though All The Young Dudes was title track of again of only album trump bought by the band. Bowie produced the album.
Lou Reed's only payday was Transformer with single Walk on the Wild Side, both produced by Bowie. I bet trump bought it but avoided Metal Machine Music. And I bet Bowie suggested the fuck you to Lou's record company.
Glam and new wave sprung from Bowie's forehead. Let's Dance was the last new wave album, I suggest.
Now I listen to jazz and American classical and art music. Bowie is dead.
Ethan Hill ... What does Trump have to do with it. Wtf are you talking about??
2nd rate Bowie is still better than 1st rate whoeverthefuckelse
Baby I dream between the blade and the tongue
Of the rose on your cheek the wounded and dumb
We stumble and fall we stumble and fall
Skin on skin but there's heaven in...
Heaven's in here
Heaven's in here
Among the twilight and stars
Like a rocket to Mars
Heaven in here
The first and the last are telling it all
Telling you loud but selling it small
I'm taking a swing at this shadow of mine
Crucifix hangs an' my heart's in my mouth
But it's here
Heaven's in here
Heaven's in here
Among the twilight and stars
Like a rocket to mars
Heaven in here
Heaven in one sigh
Heaven in two eyes
Heaven lies between your marbled thighs
The rustle of your falling gown
We stumble and fall like tragedy falls
We stumble and twirl there's heaven in here
We stumble and fall uncertain we fall
Flesh on flesh but there's heaven in...
Heaven's in here
Heaven's in here
Heaven's in here
Among the twilight and stars
Like a rocket to Mars
Heaven in here
You'll dance to my tongue we'll dance on the sun
We're the twilight and stars
There's heaven in here
OK garage Bands are the future- NIRVANA Bowie saw that trend
Saw him and the Tin Machine in 1991 @ the Chestnut Cabaret in Philly maybe 70 people in this small club! It was the most Amazing show ever!
So bloody good.
Bowie's equivalent of the Basement Tapes.
Bought it.. loved it... no-one else rated it... Did he do any crap?..
Thanks for sharing this ... my old cassette is knackered.. wanna buy it anyone??
Thanks ........ Baga....... x
Not the most exciting music I've heard but it's still Bowie.
Dude you stay out of your own way-Gerry...
you are soon right! been playing it in my car on rotation the past 2 months!
I slept out on the street for tickets, the whole experience was amazing!
Some people should never get old or die.
some people want to get old and die anyway.
Indeed, for some of us it is a reward for well lived life. I can't imagine having to live forever.
So far, I like the cover
Update: It gets good at 4:41
After Tonight and Never Let Me Down, a period when Bowie said he was "fully uninspired and disengaged," this was certainly a breath of fresh air. Not a part of his best efforts, but it was certainly a good move to spark a lost "creative voice"
A little bit of "The Jean Genie" segue somewhere between 3:02-3:15 . Great song. This one ROCKS. Rest in Peace, Mr. Bowie.
I see what you mean
Tin Machine ROCKED!..
Saw Tin Machine at the Commodore Ballroom in Van BC back in 1991. I felt the same way as Frank C. standing/swaying 13 to 12 feet away from him watching him watch me sweat to his music. Awesome. Won't forget it.
WHen I watch and listen to Lazarus, it send shivers down my spine. What a man.
R.I.P. David Bowie
Thank You!!! Mr. Bowie, Fly you Little Wonder; And Burn the Threw the Atmosphere of Heaven!!! >.<
Great album.
Rest well, Mr. Bowie
I saw David Bowie in 1991 in Montreal perform with the Tin Machine at the Brick. There were only a few hundred people in this small club. I was standing 5 feet from Bowie while he was shritless and a butt (cigarette) in his mouth the entire show knowing at that time that this was the closest I would ever get to an icon. I love you.
yes, that is truly very "special" . Do ya know what I mean?! WELL, DO YA!
My unforgettable memory is the Glass Spider Tour, Rome 1987. I couldn't believe it, when I saw David coming down from the giant spider, held by fine wires, seated on his chair. P.S.: one name, one musical passion. +Frank Candido, greetings from Southern Italy!
Same scenario for me....1991 at Riviera in Chicago....no one there when we were let it....we went right up to the front of the stage (about 4 feet in height) and stayed there....he was right in front of me for the entire show....I watched his cigarette butts pile up next to my beer cup....fricking amazing to me to this day.
I Love you. I hate you.
Same here but in NYC 91'
RIP David Bowie. You where a true talent. Brilliant.
R.I.P. Mr. Bowie. You will be missed.
Rip major Tom

Just one of my favorite albums ever.
Cannot believe how people criticise his period with them? I thought from a personal point of view it was like a sabatical 'his being with a band again'. Couple of outstanding tracks : Amazing and of course I can't read. There is nothing he does which is completely unlistenable. Perhaps certain covers can be marginalised?
Bus Stop was a gem, also!
Back to the roots, bluesrock.
one of the ever classic rock bands/songs ! how shit (behind that) an "eagels of D.M." :))))
so underrated
Truer words never sang better. Guitar!!!
1 of the best tunes ever!! What a noise!!!!
+Phil Miller And way louder live! Newport July 1 1989 - second loudest gig after the Ramones. Amazing memories!
+Phil Miller And way louder live! Newport July 1 1989 - second loudest gig after the Ramones. Amazing memories!
Live music is the best isn't it! I feel so sorry for these kids paying shit loads of money to watch people dancing around in their undies while miming ha ha! They don't even seem to care that they're being conned too !
Reeves Gabrel tears it up on guitar
