Tim McGraw - Whiskey And You Lyrics
There's a bottle on the dresser by your ring
And it's empty so right now I don't feel a thing
I'll be hurtin' when I wake up on the floor
And I'll be over it by noon
And that's the difference between the whiskey and you
Come tomorrow I can walk in any store
It ain't a problem yeah they'll always sell me more
But you're forgiveness is something I can't buy
Ain't a thing that I can do
And that's the difference between the whiskey and you
[Chorus]
One's the devil and one keeps driving me insane
At times I wonder if they ain't both the same
One's a liar that helps hide me from my pain
And that's the difference between the whiskey and you
I've got a problem but it ain't like what you think
I drink 'cause I'm lonesome and I'm lonesome 'cause I drink
If I don't break down and bring it on myself it'll hit right out of the blue
That's the difference between the whiskey and you
[Chorus]
Yeah that's the difference between the whiskey and you

Tim McGraw Whiskey And You Comments
Chris Stapleton's version "says it all" even if you don't understand English. Can't beat one voice, one acoustic guitar and one microphone. I'm sure Tim cringes whenever he hears his version now. Shows how Nashville ruined so much music using their "formula" back in 2007.
Never tell the truth they lied it don't set u free💔
“I drink coz I’m lonesome and lonesome coz I drink” powerful words
I think people should listen to the songs instead of flapping their jaws,,I mean really I like singers who sings in their voices, why try sounding like each other
I don't give a rat's ass who's best in this song all of them sound good from Chris,Tim,Aaron
Don't get me wrong ...
I LIKE The shitnout of ol Stapleton
But he can't hold a match to Tim you people bunch ship jumpers ol Tim was here before the cat came along and will be here long after he's gone..sings it better than Tim MY ASS..LOL JOKE!!
I'm Tim brings home on this one. Don't get any better..carry on TIM..
Chris Stapleton and aaron lewis>>>>this
This is trash. Aaron Lewis owned this song. This is like some boy band pop bullshit.
Sounds like a drunk karaoke singer. Tim has some good songs, but this isn't one of them.
If you like Chris Stapleton’s version, more power to you, I just think this version is better. I don’t like how how CS voice sounds on it, but i like the soulful tone. On this version, it would sound better, if it was slowed.
Plus, y’all sound like some jealous assholes. “... it ain’t the fiddle nah, it’s the words and what they mean” this version is what country should sound like. Tim McGraw is a legend.
Im fucking weak to this. Didnt know he sang it first and i'm crying at how cringy and just plain awful this song is.
This song comes off as if he is happy.
The way he say: difference make me laugh
Sorry Tim but this sucks compared to Aaron Lewis
Stapleton , hear his version.......his passion in his voice.......damn, nuff said........out right, "Plum Uglly"
This shit is a joke!! Omg 😂😂😂
Never knew Tim did this song. It's definitely his style, which is OK. I prefer Chris' version to this. As with all music, it's what you hear, and how it hits you. Aaron Lewis' cover is more along the vein of Stapleton. To each their own.
I listen to this song when my x girlfriend broke up with me
This is Tims style. No I dont like it near as much as Chris Stapleton but it's different and still good. Say what you will but Timmy is a singing MF himself
Everyone has there opinion and rightly so but I prefer Chris stapleton version Tim version is to pop for me Chris stapleton puts more heart into it so sorry gave it thumbs down
No soul. This is a fantastically sad song and unfortunately he has to sing it commercially. Thank God Chris brings it back around to the way it needs to be played. You can literally feel the pain in it. My Grandpa and uncle both drank themselves to death and I can't help but think of them every time I hear this song and wonder if they ever felt this way about the bruised and battered relationships in their lives.
No respect for any "artist" that cant even write their OWN material and not hire songwriters to do it for them. I first heard the song from Chris Stapleton, loved it. Then I hear 4 other "artists" do this song. Kills the feeling and makes me ill.
Ok it goes aaron lewis tim magraw then chris s

The best version of this song by Aaron lewis
this is that 90s pop country sound. totally.
Aaron Lewis version is so much better than the rest. This and stapleton's version are good, but Aaron's is fantastic
I have only heard of this song because of Aaron Lewis. This version, be it original, is too upbeat for me to enjoy. Good track when AL is performing it.
Tim McGraw just sounds so cheerful on this song.
Stapelton wrote it, McGraw sang it, Nashville Executives over produced it....
no true at all, this song was written and released by mcgraw back in 2007, stapelton covered it in 2015.
everybody is talkin about chris stapletons version, im not dissing chris stapleton, his version has the most emotion in it......................but have you heard aaron lewis sing this song?
Tom your versions much better than Chrisys version don't worry about what others think. Your versions don't drag. His is to slow. Love you tim McGraw.
Stapleton sounded as though he meant this
This buffoon is a Democrat btw
Chris Stapleton puts the whiskey in this song...Timmy just brought room temperature water...
Aaron Lewis did a bad ads cover of this song
N o, N o, N O! The sparseness of Chris Stapleton's original spoke volumes. It was him and a guitar, NOT a big bandful of his buddies playing along with his, momentary heartbreak. N O. TOTALLY misread the the context of the song. If you disagree, go find Chris Stapleton on NPR Tiny Desk to feel the pain, not this. This is crap
I am big fan of Chris Stapleton, but I like this version too. I don’t understand why everybody’s complaining about it. He did a great job here!! Good job, Tim!!
I’m sorry but once you’ve heard Chris Stapleton there’s no going back
Between Aaron Lewis's version and Chris Stapletons this song sucks. My wife loves it because she loves Tim but come on let it sound like real country
Damn Tim this is shitty bro
All I can say is "I tried"
A H A H A H A H A
This is terrible. No emotion in this song whatsoever.
Chris is the only one who can sing this song! He wrote the story!!!!! Thanks for the song , Chris...........keep them coming!
Love Stapleton's version but his is too slow. This one is the best I've heard
Aaron Lewis is better
Can’t really say that he doesn’t put soul in. This is a good version, but this and Stapleton’s version are incomparable to each other. Both of the songs are good.
These comments smdh
Aaron Lewis version is the best
Hearing the Stapleton version first completely ruins any chance this version had.
This version is overproduced , Chris Stapleton's version is simpler, more raw, painful
Never heard this version, but just read an article from CMT News that mentioned McGraw's version, so decided to look it up.
Man....sounds very amateur.
Thanks for the good music, Chris Stapleton!
its the " the" in the whiskey that i hate in this version.
best version is aaron lewis
I'm only here because I heard this on spotify before Stapleton's version and thought, there's no way this could be real!!
Aaron Lewis's one is way better !
He made this an effin happy song !!!! Was he drunk !!!!!!
YAWN This sucks
...another Tim McGraw over-produced butcher job where the original songwriter singing was much better. Whiskey and You, When the Stars Go Blue...there's a list.
For all of the people that don't know, Tim's album including this song was released in 2007. Chris Stapleton's version was released in 2015.
'This isthu diff-ER-rence betweeen-ah-whiskey And-ah yoooooooo'
No. Just, no...
Don't think Tim has ever tasted ah-whiskey or ah-sorrow
This sounds to happy and upbeat for how sad the lyrics are.
yall get this bling jean pussy gun control twat waffle outtahere XD
You see Chris is bringing back the outlaw singer songwriter and the pretty boys with a voice are ridin out of town.
So glad Chris started his own. Good job Tim but that's the difference between you and Chris.
Stapleton is gr8.. but also liked the rendition by Aaron Lewis.. check it out.
Aaron lewis has a awesome voice
[Just_james] sings Whiskey and You by Chris Stapleton, what an incredible voice on StarMaker!

I like a lot that Tim McGraw does but this one is better left to Chris Stapleton and Aaron Lewis
You guys do realize that tim mcgraw was the first to perform this? Just because christ stapleton covered it doesnt make it his song lol
Elergy yea but Stapleton wrote it so technically it is his song.
I mean yeah obviously, but if tim paid him to write the song, chris might have written it, but it was originally performed by tim mcgraw. Thats what happens with music sometimes, there are writers and there are performers. Obviously chris didnt feel like a performer at the time so he sold his songs to other people.
Tim still fucked this WAY up! Tim did NOT pay him to write this song. Chris wrote the song and SOLD it to him. BIG difference then Tim fucked it up. I like Tim but Jesus...How can you take this song as a star and sing it like this and think it's good. I know he was in the studio saying....this sounds like shit. From that point as a star you have to say to yourself...maybe I shouldn't sing this because people are gonna know how good Chris sang it. We do know now and this just sucks BAD.
Chris wrote it, Tim sang it. Tim doesn't have the real life experience to write, OR sing this song. That's the difference between the writer and the singer.
Say what you want, but the best version of this song is sang by Aaron Lewis!
complete trash.
I really do not hear the 'pop' everyone keeps referencing, too. It sounds twang to me with a smooth electric. Most of the stuff Tim does is twang. Go listen to Florida Georgia Line. That's pop music. Here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMivT7MJ41M that there is pop music son.
Is this why the reason they remove darius rucker's whiskey n you vids..darius's was much better.
okay for everyone thinking that this is trash... well chris stapleton wrote this song FOR Tim McGraw to use. This was Tim's song. Then when Chris became his own performer he used this song as a song on his album using his own version. So that is your opinion on whether or not you "like" the song. And like MusicPhase said it, congrats on having one
The tempo is to fast for this song it is better slowed down the voice needs to be deeper
I couldn't even make to the lyrics of this version before I wanted to go back and play Chris Stappleton version to hear what it should sound like
We saw Tim and Faith Thursday night in Cleveland, then Chris Stapleton Friday night. Soul2Soul was good and I was glad to be there, but Stapleton's show was INCREDIBLE. For me, I would pay to see Chris as often as I could. Tim and Faith once was good enough.
This version sucks ass.
If you like Chris's version better then why the fuck are you here just to complain like you have lips between your legs? So many men now a day's with female traits. Stop nagging like bitches and don't listen to Tim. That nagging shit is for woman bro. Go find your nuts.
Finally a comment on this feed that makes sense.
Aaron Lewis version >
Just hearing this for the first time after owning Chris Stapleton's album and this just doesn't compare. Stapleton's version is simply the only version someone should listen to as he has the soul to give it justice. No offense to Tim, but this particular song is all Chris.
Good song but Stapletons version was so much better. His had way more feeling and soul
This song was written by Christ Stapleton & co written by Lee Thomas Miller for Tim McGraw in 2008. Chris did his version of the song in 2011. I am a huge Tim McGraw fan! But I do like Chris's version better.
Chris is much better
why all the hate on him, this is actually good before he became a sell out
His vocals suck, pro tools cant save this guy. Don't watch him live. However, I don't blame Stapleton for pitching his tunes to these guys. Swimmin in cash when these guys get a hold of em.
Jason eady is better than Stapletons version, only just lol.
Fuck Stapleton! He can write a good song, but he can't sing it! It's insane this guy won the awards he did!
Ginger Wildhearts version is way better than this
This version is why I stab babies on the street randomly
So Chris Stapleton sold the song to Tim then puts out the his own AMAZING version himself?? that's pretty damn embarrassing. anyone else think that's f'd up? lol Chris Stapleton is gangster
I love Tim Mcgraw. He's an amazing artist whose had dozens of hits over the years. With that being said, I've never herd this version of this song untill just now and I think it's awful. I'm so glad Chris Stapleton revived this song, because after that it was dead.
Wow! What a soulless turd. Of all the songs on Traveller this is the worst one to cover. It is so personal and he(Stapleton) sings it with such authenticity. I mean have pop artist cover the pop song like nobody to blame. Call you radio station and tell me you don't want to hear this shit. You want the real artist. Margot Price, Ryan Bingham, Aaron Lewis, Hayes Carl, Justin Townes earl. Fir fuck sakes I hate pop music!!!!!
I like Tim, but his take on this song is garbage. Stapleton's cut is forever timeless and a testament to his talent as both a singer and writer. Lewis's cut pays homage to the original with his own flavor. Either is better than this over produced ripoff.

First of all Chris Stapleton sucks. Every song he covers by good artist he ruins.
I can't believe how much a song can be left lifeless by the system....too bad brilliant songwriters have to whore out their songs....a disgrace
I like most of Tim's music but this version completely sucks! Chris Stapleton's version gave me chills bc I have lived the words of this song.
