Didn't this song come out in 1997 ? I could be off by a year (either way). Regardless, the late 1990's were McGraw's "heyday".

I never was (and still am not) the biggest fan of country music. However, I used to hear this song frequently because of where I was working @ the time. After listening to it...day after day...for about a year...I began to take a strong liking to it.

To this day, it still brings back fond memories for me. I was in my mid twenties and liked the job I was doing (and especially the people I was doing it with). Our hours were 1-9 or 2-10 (PM). So just about every night after work we would go out and hit the bars together. I was having fun and had my whole life ahead of me....it was great !

It's hard for me wrap my mind around the fact that all of what I just mentioned (including the release of the song) took place over twenty years ago. I miss being 26 years old like a former best friend ! Where does the time go ?

My uncle passed a year ago, and now every time I hear a 90s Tim McGraw song all I can think about was him because he loved Tim McGraw, he could've been him from the hat down to the cowboy boots and he loved the Tim McGraw cologne its so crazy to say that he is gone but that is why I come back here and watch him, the song that reminds me of him the most is The Cowboy in Me.

I hear people saying “this is when Country Music was Good,new stuff sucks,What happened???? Same thing that happens to every art form a trans setter happened Garth Brooks happened a once in a generation talent that came to define the whole genera and when the industry figured out that Much like Michael Jackson u can’t duplicate him u can only make cheap imitations of him and they did and when it didn’t sustain the country music scene bottomed out and then evolved into the next thing and that’s when u had bands like Rascal Flatts and Duos like Brooks & Dunn who carried the scene for a while then it bottoms out again and then what happens Carrie Underwood Shows up Taylor Swift shows up and then they define it for a while they TS morphs into a whole different thing and Carrie stops having regular Hit records so now Country music is left without a true standard bearer so now it has no direction and what u end up with is a bunch of people trying to fill that vacuum left but how do u do that?? U can’t it’s like trying to follow Robin Williams in his prime good luck with that so now u got what u got appreciate greatness while u have it
