Tim Buckley - Song Of The Magician Lyrics

When I sing I can't bring everything on the wing
Flying down from dizzy air
To the ground because I care
You will be love and your love will live

When I smile I beguile all the while every mile
As I walk across the sky
Of the clockwork of your eye
You will be love and your love will live

Casting spells from the well I can tell you the bells
Listen to my magic voice
Learn the tune of children's toys
You will be love and your love will live

When I die do not cry hear my sigh passing by
After I have turned to win
I will try to help you then
You will be love and your love will live

When I sing, I can't bring everything on the wing
    Flying down from dizzy air
To the ground, because I care
You will be love and your love will live

When I smile, I beguile all the while, every mile
As I walk across the sky
Of the clockwork of your eye
You will be love and your love will live

    Casting spells from a well
I can tell you, the bells listen to my magic voice
Learn the tunes of children's toys
You will be love and your love will live

When I die, do not cry, hear my sigh passing by
After I have turned to wind
I will try to help you then
You will be love and your love will live

    Underrated masterpiece

  3. M.... N....

I was in love with Tim through his music in 67 or so...It still has the same effect on me after all these years....touches my soul...just bare feeling...He was so gifted and a sad soul as well

  4. W.... L....

Listening to this again - realized it needs to go up a couple of hundred places on my favorite 1000 list.

  5. J.... W....

kate they died young because of self destruction thats the reality

  6. C.... ....

amazing song! prefer the original mono mix though. haunting

    C.... ....

much of what Tim did was haunting...it is lovely when he is not too drug-addled in my humble opinion, because then he didn't oversing or go off on tangents too much...just the purity of his glorious voice, such as this track! :)

i wish my dear! :) nope,i am just a big lover of music,i have loved music all my life ever since i fell in love with ABBA as a 7 year old (i still love them!) and i enjoy reading about people i admire/respect,so i have read a lot of biographies :) i am currently reading a book about Irish blues legend Rory Gallagher :) I have wanted to be a singer all my life,if i could sing like Janis Joplin i would be a very happy woman! but the best i can do is sing along with her records hahaha :)

This is one of the few individuals who come around every once in awhile truly deserving of the title "musician" not the silly "recording artist" label. Buckley is as consummate a musical genius as I've ever heard. It's one thing to have have talent, its a whole 'nother to have the skill to bring forth that talent in the most extraordinary of ways--Buckley is a shinning example of this kind of skill and mastery with what talents you've been given. Music like this is a gift from the other-side and let no one tell you any different

    i.... ....

could not agree more my friend.I also put others in this category, like Gram Parsons,Otis Redding etc....they came from elsewhere .

  8. S.... H....

I can't believe people gave a thumbs down to this song. They must be brain dead.

    S.... H....

good on you Shawn :) and i meant to say guess not guss :p

    S.... H....

    Shhh...I didn't even notice. :)

    S.... H....

    Just the best.

    S.... H....

    what about 'heart dead'?

  9. u.... ....

Tim and Jeff Buckley RIP both! Love them both so much! <3

    u.... ....

Yes... and thank you for the tribute!

  10. M.... C....

    naturally beautiful

  11. S.... K....

The book Blue Melody is AMAZING IT TELLS YOU ABOUT HIS HOLE LIFE PRETTY MUCH! :) you must buy the book if your a huge Tim Buckley fan I sure did buy it so worth every dollar.

  12. S.... O....

Yes 19. We seem able to write songs like this in the intensity of youth .. unaware of the depth we only see in them when we are older and when it is so much harder to do.. we look back at the wise old man we were on our youth and his unfettered heart ..

    S.... O....

+Stephen OToole It doesn't necessarily have to be harder, but what you are saying is mostly true...I guess we all better get writing as soon as possible!

    S.... O....

yes indeed Stephen OToole,it reminds me of Sandy Denny;when i think that she was 21 when she wrote who knows where the time goes it just blows my mind.I think these people were sent from another realm and that's why they all die young. Here for a short time to bring their gifts to the world and then gone like a shooting star :)

  13. N.... N....

    magic song.

  14. M.... Z....

Casting spells from the well I can tell you the bells
    listen to my magic voice
Learn the tune of children's toys
You will be love and your love will live....

    amazing <3

    Album: Tim Buckley - 1966
    Tim was born in 1947!

    Unreal, eh?

Considering that Jeff was born in 1966, it's no wonder Tim left... so much to do...

  16. c.... ....

    Wait. he was 19????

  17. j.... ....

You know, Michael, I believe you're right. After more than 45 years I can still hear him the way he sounded in person. Glorious voice with intonations and emotions only any given moment can produce..

  18. N.... M....

You will be love and your love will live.Beautiful as always Tim.Miss you.

  19. T.... M....

there was a problem with tim they say, his voice never truely came across on records, so imagine what it was like standing next to him....

  20. M.... ....

@blazeablunt4200 --- Thanks for your support in the fight against intolerance & ignorance . . . and just plain stupid MF-ers. (LOL)

  21. M.... ....

@Deepred67 - I know I am but what are you - I know I am but what are you - I know I am but what are you? Sorry, I assumed by your response that you were in 3rd grade, but maybe you just graduated that grade after 20 years. (LOL)

  22. M.... ....

Great song, but mainly for the 60's feel & the chord changes. I personally like Micky Dolenz of the Monkees better than Tim for this sort of vocal style. Many think Micky ripped off Tim, but The Monkees 1st album was recorded & released the same month as Tim's debut. I don't feel that Tim has enough soul in his voice to suit me personally, but I like the tone. But what's most impressive is that he was a 19-yr old kid on this recording.

  23. N.... ....

How on earth can a 19-year old have SUCH a voice? Many singers take years, or a decade or more to discover the genre that suits their voice. Yes Tim, I'm listening to your magic voice... unfortunately (at times). Because it's so good and so sad at the same time. But a must.

  24. o.... ....

This song is so beautiful. The Buckley men were very talented.

  25. R.... P....

we listen to your magic voice , immortal , thank you
