Tim Buckley - Aren't You The Girl? Lyrics

Aren't you the girl who used to call me names?
Aren't you the girl who used to play at games?
Weren't you the one who said she'd never fall?
Now you're the one who's cryin' not so tall

Yes you're the one
Shall I throw you a crumb?
Shall I come and pass you by?
Would that make you want-a try?
Shall I come and kiss your lips?
Would that make your rain slip?
Shall I come and dry your eyes?
Will that make you realize?

Oh I know what it's like
It's happened many times to me
Oh do you ache inside
Do your eyes want-a cry?
Do you want me back again?

Aren't you the girl who used to call me names?
Aren't you the girl who used to play at games?
Weren't you the one who used to run and hide?
Now you're the one who's cryin' way inside

Oh I know what it's like
It's happened many times to me
Oh do you ache inside
Do your eyes want-a cry?
Do you want me back again?

God how I love this song....

I tripped him on his way to the stage in Club 47. What a beautiful voice.

  3. M.... ....

I asked my mom if she knew him as she was teenager in the 70's. And yes, she did and so other people in Poland :-)

  4. M.... ....

The powers that be wished that Mickey Dolenz could get this tone...

    Beautiful song!!

I grew up in Europe and do not recall Tim being known there when I was a teenager in the 70's. I only discovered him in 1987, when hearing Sweet Surrender blew me away. If I key into that moment I can still feel how I felt hearing his voice. I bought the album the same week, recorded it on cassette and went on a bit of a long distance trip with friends. They did not like him...
I wish his music would cleanse my soul or that I had that feeling! I'd be a saint! ;)

I bought this album in the sixties. Now his albums are on my ipod. I'm glad I'm an old fart now. I got to live through those days and was exposed to good rock from Buddy Holly on. It's sad in how Tim Buckley died. But his music lives on as a means to cleanse the soul.

I bought this album when it came out and couldn't stop listening to it. I've put together some of my favorite songs from it and from the follow-up album on a Spotify playlist which I can Bluetooth to any device. Amen about Buddy Holly and the great rock of the 50's.
