C'mon, listen to how retarded you sound trying to pigeonhole a dynamic band like Tiamat into one little category...much less hating on them because they dont sound like how you *think* they should. Id be more likely to not continue listening to a band if they put out the same sounding shit 8 albums in a row...a sure sign of no true talent or motivation. But hey if thats your thing, go for it, small boxes for small minds...I for one love all of Tiamat's stuff and support them in anything they do!

These guys are way to varied and versatile to pin down into one genre, and that is what is so great about them. You can listen to any of their late 90's albums onward and find influences from blues and old-school country western, to the different arrangements and tempos you might find in more typically Asian music, to a light mix of neo-classical... and have you listened to the original version of Born to Die?

Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride are Doom Metal. Tiamat varies from black metal to death metal to doom metal to darkwave. Although they have been the closest band to sound like true goth. There is no such thing as gothic metal because goth was never metal to begin with. Dark Metal is not "harder" than "gothic" metal, there is no such thing. Dark metal varies in sound and is an umbrella term for bands like Anathema, Darkseed, Evereve, Leave's Eyes, etc. Goth is Sisters of Mercy, Eva O or Bauhaus

Not unless you have a broader spectrum of music. I listen to all their stuff from Treblinka to now. Some goes for other bands that changes like Mortiis, Theatre of Tragedy and Ulver for example. Although I see your point.

Well, I will tell you what it isn't. It's not Treblinka/old-school-Tiamat. That was my point. The new stuff does not necessarily appeal to their original audience.

Their latest album is not goth at all, if we talk about the genre - it's just a rock with dark lyrics and about-goth-like look, no more. Its modern sound is too easy to be called "goth". "Skeleton Skeletron", "Judas Christ" and "Prey" were goth/goth-metal, but this thing is not.

It is not about the music not being heavy. It is about a band changing direction from being a metal band into a goth band. There is a reason why we started to listen to their first album and why the same people don't like their latest album. It is for the same reason you wouldn't buy a country album.

I am a metalhead and i love Tiamat for what they are and every direction they take. They re evolving as people and also as a band and that is very important. I can't imagine the monotony of listening to the same kinda music ever. I need variety and Tiamat gives me that. And so yes if the country album is worth t, i will buy it.
