Thrice Call It In The Air Comments
The cool part is how closely it’s based on No Country for Old Men’s coin toss scene.
super underrated!
These lyrics and the meaning behind them are bone-chilling. Truly a band that is synonymous with class act, I can't state that enough.
It hasn't actually been 5 years since they came out with an album has it???
Beautiful song
A coin toss, into the air
come down, it will come down somewhere
your life, is a coin in the air
it will come down, it will come down somewhere
every coin does ring, every coin will fall
stop your wavering, nows the time so call it out
a coin in the air, it will come down
it will come down somewhere
Thank you Thrice,
This is the best song they've done in a while. Damn this is good.
They grew up and matured and discovered other things to write about and new ways to express them?
You won't find a better chorus in music
it took me until 2010. i got to see them once live..... i can still die happy haha
me too
love this song
Welcome to the legitimately fantastic music club. We've been expecting you.
This is quite possibly my favorite song of all time. Thrice is one band I will never stop listening to.
Youre telling me... This is "bad" per say but their first 3 albums were the only ones I liked... This is a different band.
Although I will always enjoy and respect Thrice as a great band, their style has slowed down tremendously. What happened to the Deadbolt days??
*Sigh*
absolutely love thrice, got me through some tough times... i was incredibly sad to find out that i had to miss their most recent tour which i later found out was their farewell tour :( :( but i can only keep my fingers crossed for any future tours they do...
I like this!
hardly look but type little foka'!
Even though I love their older music just as much as their new stuff, you can't deny that Dustin's voice has improved immensely. The chorus to this gives me chills.
shut up and lets listen to zis awesome song. Anyone who says he miss the old stuff shut ze fok up! I think ze most of ze music iz a matter of taste. Except zis album, or ze whole Thrice Discography. One with usable brain cannot resist zis power and beauty!
Exactly what part of Americas current wars contributes in any way to freedom of speech?
Is it just me, or Thrice and especially this song is fukin powerful?! amazed...
A pity that I lost that band for such a long time
They are definitely comparable to Deftones, and I fucking Love Deftones...and Team Sleep...and Crosses.
@aleksandarWH7 me too ! last week!
@labeehaypwns245 I've never even so much as heard thrice on the radio here in the Bay Area...
Whoever chooses the Grammy's are clinically deaf, how this band hasn't won 5 or more awards is beyond me.
@secretivesounds I don't see what that question has to do with my opinion of Thrice.
@kblanchett3 i'm getting hints of deftones from this album too
@aleksandarWH7 Good for you!! I been listening to them since 2002..best EVER live band...and I have seen many different live bands!!
@sethmisenhimer56 So I guess songs about killing people, sex and drugs are perfectly acceptable?
@MegaTheMag They are going on hiatus unfortunately dude, but good luck with the army!
Wow I love my friends for introducing me to awsome music.
@Arik1989 I don't know much about all of the bands you listed but as far as my opinion on Thrice lyrics go, that what I believe. However, to each his own sir :P
Wish me luck Thrice. Leaving for BCT for the US Army. Signed up to defend amazing bands like Thrice. Freedom of speech. What a beautiful thing!
@sethmisenhimer56 Have you read the lyrics of people like Tool, Porcupine Tree, Mudvayne, Korn, Opeth? Those people sometimes go a lot further in the controversial lyrics department... Don't think it's that man.
@Arik1989 Most of there songs are based off things from the bible which is not acceptable to mainstream media
@Crazyclock222 That's exactly what I said about a month and a half ago, I don't get how these aren't much more famous, they're incredible.
Thrice left us with a pretty fucking epic record. Just finished listening to it. Sad to see them go.
So glad they are back!
Jesus Christ how am I just now discovering how fucking awesome Thrice is.
5 Dislikes is 5 stabs to the agency, prophecy, industry, provacation to the flip. Thumbs up.
the 5 people who disliked this blah blah blah wait for thumbs up
I can't help but assume this song was greatly inspired by the scene in No Country For Old Men (awesome movie)
@fenixred1278 They are so great live, which just makes my love grow more and more. They are just ridiculously talented. :) Thanks to you for supporting them too. haha. They're amazing. I'd give anything to see them again. :)
@isetmyfrndzonfire Yes!!! I saw them Nov. 3rd in Seattle and that was one of the last songs they played along with To Awake and Avenge the Dead. Then my brother and I realized, wow, aside from the Alchemy Index, they just played a song from every album.....my...life....is...complete. Thanks for supporting a band who has grown into a group unprecedented by most artists, spiritually and artistically.
Never thought I could love Thrice more than I already do. And then I saw them October 19, 2011 and got them to play Phoenix Ignition for the first time in almost ten years (in my city anyway) .. :)
@downtoawhisper Yeah, I know. I was just taking a more literal approach to the lyrics :P. But yeah I understand your point.
@mhofferek1
Just curious, do you know what "the great exchange" is about?
@jorgegaray12
This song isn't simply about a coin toss. It's about how we all need to make a decision with our lives. Either choose life or death (Jesus or sin), and make the decision now.
@promathia1
Repent from your drunkenness! No drunkard will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
This song is all about how you need to make a decision with your life...don't try to sit on the fence between sin and righteousness. Choose to repent and trust in Jesus! Make the decision today!
@Drummer9834 How can they be a modern day Radiohead when Radiohead still exist?
I have heard one song by Thrice and after awhile I decided to check them out and I discovered that they are FUCKING AWESOME.
Thrice literally just made song about tossing a coin and it is fucking awesome.
Never have I ever heard such an epic song about a coin toss
whats the most you lost in a coin toss friendo?
Thumbs up if you're going to see them tonight at Irving Plaza!!
Terrifying, it sounds like the perfect mix of Vheissu (with this weird chord progression and melody) and Beggars (same groove)
Damn, this is good. I don't like Major / Minor as much as Beggars, but this song in particular must be my favourite Thrice song ever.
fuck i just discovered thrice and its awesome
@sackd18w i agree completely, and i think the third spot goes to Alchemy Index
Your life is a coin in the air, it will come down somewhere.
so.... is it heads or tails? You can't ignore it;
You stand to win or lose everything...
call it in the air and blur are my top favorite songs of this album. although they're all good. damn.. can't wait to see them live. I hope they play this.
Sounds like Thrice finally found their niche.... Besides Artist in the Ambulance this is their best work
sackd18w what about illusion of safety. I think that is their best album. so much dynamics to every song.
@1860Gibbo: There's always a hater out there. Always.
I miss the old sound but this song helps....
@hitthecouch Good thing we've got recorded music then, isn't it? I for one don't miss a second of it, I'm in love with what's fresh and new.
@sobergrad : and then at 3:55 the song rips you about 10-12 new assholes. It's Thrice at their finest.
oh my..this is just excellent!
I miss the old sound.
I really hate their heavier stuff. They are in their element when they play similar to this. Dustin is a damn fine lyricist. "The Great Exchange", I believe, is one of the best songs I've ever read and or listened to.
damn this is good
@fackwhy Yeah the first time I heard Anthology I thought it sounded like a happier twist on Firebreather.
I was looking for something like Vheissus or Water/Wind Album.. but this song is amazing!.. rly nice.. remind me Fire Album
Second fav song behind Words in the Water. The whole album is fantastic though and not a throwaway on the entire disc
The Band that was so awesome that they named it Thrice!
Thrice and Defeater have released timeless albums. Music that can never be replicated. Music i can never live without.
Thrice never disappoint. Can't wait for the album. Next Tuesday I will mainly be listening to thrice & playing gears 3 lol.
@AHandfulMoore another chance? Why would you ever give up on them in the first place? That's like giving up on eating...
I loved paper tigers and Im thinking that I might wanna give this band another chance from what I've been hearing...good.
WOW. I was listening to The Horrible Crowes, and this was in the related videos. I'm SOOOO glad it was ;D
absolutely love this song.....reminds me of circles meets flags of dawn....perfection
@82yota4life This song really sounds like a vheissu! I love it, so far the best song I heard of the new album! If they play this live I'm gonna go nuts! (on to song nr 6)
They should play this during every NFL coin toss...
This song is awesome
I think they wrote this song while watching No Country for Old Men.
@MultitaskingCake Agreed. That's such a filthy lyric. Dustin Kensrue needs to set aside a year or two and write a companion piece to Paradise Lost, the guy is that talented.
Thrice has a cheat code on music. I wonder if they use a Game Genie to record with...
probably my favorite songs i think.. 1:40 reminds me kinda of a vheissu!
who disliked this? show yourself
music has no set meaning its about how you relate to it and interpret it yourself.. Sure it started with an idea but art has no bounds, stop being so cynical
I just felt a chill go down my spine. Favorite song on the album so far.
When Thrice gets dark and fast, it doesn't happen much these days, it's potent as fuck when they do.
this song is SICK! Part of it is about Riley and Ed's passing father and his battle with cancer. Just beautiful!
buy this album )/(
My favorite song on the album :D
