At the time (the early '80's) I would have staked my life on the proposition that Flock of Seagulls, Tears for Fears, and Thompson Twins were all utter shite. Now? Not so much.

This song is almost haunting for me in many ways as when I listened to this song that day I didn't realize just how much my life would change within the next two years. And you should have known better than to take advantage of me, I was 15 and you were 18, and just because i didn't say no doesn't mean it was an invitation for you to violate me in the way you did. I want you to know that I stayed on the swim team that year because I didn't want you and all your buddies to think that I was weak but that was the last year doing the sport I love and miss so much. I want you to know that I now suffer from depression and post traumatic stress disorder. I want you to know that I hate you for the coward you are and not owning up to what you did when I decided to come forward. I want you to know that before that happened I never wanted to smoke or drink but now thats something I do and maybe I would have done it anyway but it was because of the pain you caused me that I decided to start using substances. I want you to know that I'm a senior now and I'm failing economics but I am gonna do everything in my power to pass and graduate because I'm not letting you take that away from me too. I want you to know that my body doesn't feel like its mine anymore and thanks to you im now terrified to loose my virginity (on my own terms). I want you to know that despite all of the shit I'm going through I'm still here and I'm still alive, you took a lot of things away from me but im getting them back. (he says, looking at the ceiling) the 80's what a great era for all genres of music, it was like someone turned the switch on and all of a sudden all these great song just started cascading down non-stop and it was so refreshing that even nowadays you hear those immortalized tunes and can't help but travel back in time and smile for no apparent reason just reminiscing and calling on those great memories that no other music out of the 80's can give you.
