Thomas Dolby - My Brain Is Like A Sieve Lyrics

Oh! My brain is like a sieve
Sometimes it's easier to forget
All the bad things you did to me
You did to me

Oh! My brain is like sieve
But it knows when it's being messed with, yeah
If you wanted you could come in
So come in

When you said you loved me
When you told me you cared
That you would be a part of me, mmmm
That you would always be there
Did you really mean to hurt me?
No, I think you only meant to tease
But it's hard to remember
I lost my memory. See...

My brain is like a sieve
Sometimes it's easier to forget
All the bad things you did to me
You did to me

My brain is like sieve
But it knows when it's being messed with, ah!
If you wanted, you could come in
So come in
Ye-a-a-a-ah!

You ought to be ashamed of your behaviour
When you're treating me this way
As if I had deserved to be a place to vent your ire
Some day I'm gonna douse that bonfire
We make a crucial team for a dying world
And style is a word I never even heard
In your vocabulary, (ire) victim of a murder mystery
Murder!

My brain is like a sieve
Sometimes it's easier to forget
All the bad things you did to me
You did to me
Did to me
Ye-a-a-a-a-ah!

My brain is like a sieve
My brain is like a sieve, yeah
Sometimes it's easier to forget
All the bad things you did to me
You did to me
Ah!

My brain is like sieve
But it's a place where we both could live
If you wanted, you could come in
So come in

When you said you loved me
When you told me you cared

When you said you loved me
When you told me you cared
That you would be a part of me, mmmm
That you would always be there
Did you really mean to hurt me?
No, I think you only meant to tease
But it's hard to remember
Through these broken memories
Through these broken memories

This might be the only 7 inch single of his I don't have along with the one from the film Gothic.

I'm a trombone player from a long time ago, started in 6th grade, now I'm 60yrs. old. Damn, what an intro to one of the smoothest and cool trombone solos out there. Who is that cat? Thanks Mr. Dolby. Thanks.

when someone attacks someone else for a difference in preference, it indicates poor self-esteem.

he is on tour now.. (Just not a lot of places , like /sigh

    Darren Goldsmith

I've had the fortune of playing (bass/bass synth/backing vocals) with him on stage. Thomas is just as you'd expect... creative, and utterly professional.

  11. Jason Williams

    a tremendous album, essential listening.

  12. Dale Jenson

one of my faves of all time lost toy people rock too

  13. Hugh K. Ayers

I used to sing "My Brain is Like a Steve" about my friend Steve! Now, that one actually went back to Cheech & Chong's "Earache My Eye" as well. Steve was more an "Earache My Eye" character. Anyway, Thomas Dolby only emboldened it.

    Ian Gager

    Hugh K. Ayers
"Earache my eye!" Classic stuff :-D
I still listen to those guys sometimes 👍

  14. James Kendall

Thomas Dolby jr with some of the good stuff.
Some of it original Burbank California. Out near
Ikea and Bob Hope airport. And Fry's with that crashed
fake ufo over their front door. A different fake crashed ufo
every day that's show biz. The key to Dolby success is a good
sound to noise ratio and soul from the heart.
Oh yes and a few dashes of passion and a lot of vinegar.

  15. Ted L

    Thomas Dolby is a genius

    manu tre

Mr Dolby and Mr Prince..... i adore both ;)

    Ian Gager

    +manu tre 👍

  20. Wing Nut

He used the Brian Ferry huge echo and delay..a real wet sound...but with a lot of wit and charm. Well, Brian owns charm, but Dolby made records I listened to hundreds of times with headphones or vinyl.

    Ian Gager

    Oh yes!

    youjamz13

    something about thomas dolby.
DOLBY TAKEN 20 YEARS OUT OF MUSIC TO SET UP AN COMPANY CALLED BEATNIK INC.IF YOU HAVE A MOBILE PHONE THEN WHEN IT RINGS YOUR ACTUALLY LISTENING TO THOMAS DOLBY.ALL PHONE MANUFACTURES HAVE LICENCED THE RINGTONE FROM BEATNIK INC.HE ACTUALLY MADE THE RINGTONES WITH A SYNTH,IT IS ESTIMATED THAT 700 MILLION HAS BEEN USED ON PHONES AND HE GETS A PERCENTAGE ON EACH PHONE THAT SELLS, SO BASICALLY HE PRETTY WELL OFF.

  46. paabaa1
