Thomas, B.J. - You Call That A Mountain Lyrics

I always heard about the great Atlantic
How it humbles you to stand upon it's shore
So I thought I'd take some time to go and see it
Since I had no ties upon me anymore
But I don't know what I'd wasted my time for

You call that an ocean?
To me it's just a pond that's almost dry
If you want to see an ocean
You should see the tears her leaving made me cry

So I headed west to see that famous canyon
That the Colorado cut so deep and wide
I thought seeing something lower down than I felt
Might cheer me up and ease my troubled mind
But I just got disappointed one more time

You call that a canyon?
It's nothing but a pothole in the yard
If you want to see a canyon
You should see the hole she left here in my heart

So now I stand here staring at the Rockies
I've heard they reach right up to heaven's door
They're like that little hole and that blue puddle
And I see now what I should have seen before
Without her life holds no wonders anymore

You call that a mountain?
It's just a little pile of rocks and dirt
If you want to see a mountain
You ought to try getting over her
You call that a mountain

Lasse called him a legend?...here in the UK,he never got one play on any Country programme I heard and I only know him for "Raindrops" and "Wrong Song!".....and latterly,"Family Reunion!"

Hey there Graham! I know this comment is coming a bit late...but if you'd like to check out some more of B.J.'s biggest hit singles here in the States, they are indeed quite good! B.J. had 2 additional #1 country hits (besides "Wrong song").."Whatever happened to old fashioned love", and "New looks from an old lover" both went to #1 back in 1983..."Two car garage" made it to #3 back in early 1984 and "The Whole World's In Love When You're Lonely" peaked at #10 also in 1984...I personally also really enjoy the tunes "Some love songs never die" (#27/1981)..and.."Everybody loves a rain song" (#25/1978)...On the "pop" charts, he also had big hits with "I'm so lonesome I could cry" (#8/1966)..."Hooked on a feeling" (#5/1969)..."I just can't help believing" (#9/1970)..."No love at all" (#16/1971)..."Rock and roll lullaby" (#15/1972) and "Don't worry baby" (#17/1977)..Hopefully you'll have a chance to check these fine tunes out soon, and get acquainted with more of B.J.'s many hits! Hope you're doing well my friend, and take care! Ms. Elizabeth🎶💿🎶💿🎶
