An acoustic version without the electronic distortion would still be appreciated by many fans, including myself.

How could my opinion be wrong? 1.) the lyrics aren't impossibly hard to make out 2.) they have the lyrics online. If you go look up the lyrics, you will realize that they were never hard to make out in the first place.

Thats your opinion, which also happens to be wrong. Regardless, they could have made an alternate version of this song that was acoustic which would allow the lyrics to be heard more clearly.

Slow Motion had the lyrics removed by the record company because they didnt want such explicit lyrics on the album.

man...i was in a huge songwriting rut. but i'm just going to smoke weed and listen to good music tonight. and third eye blind are making me excited about writing again. this song is full of so many sonic quirks that just flow by. it almost sounds like incubus. now, i'm not a big incubus fan..but they do have a few amazing songs. this song is amazing in it's own right though. so catchy and creative all at once...

much much better band than i first gave them credit for. the music is a lot weirder and more creative than i expected. i expected something super commercial. this is just creative songwriting at it's best. i love it!

It's probably just shoddy consistency. I would not put it past YouTube to do something like that. They already force changes onto their users without a second thought, so why should they care who sees ads?

Seriously? I've only seen video ads/ commercials on channels that profit from posting content before. On most fan-channels I've not encountered actual video ads at all, just the little link that pops up at the bottom of the video screen. This is really weird. A mistake, maybe? Or are they implementing this on all videos, but with shoddy consistency?

The song is pretty good and the lyrics are awesome, but you can barely hear them. I wish it was a little more audible; I know the lyrics were supposed to be "camouflaged", but still...

@fogger00 It was actually released without the lyrics because the columbine shootings had just occurred. The lyrics are really amazing but pretty graphic so they just waited to release the full version at a more appropriate time.

Yeah anyone who can remove the armor/camouflage and have a pair of nads to actually verbalize crap in a meaningful way...yeah I'd likely pass out or some shit in wonderment....lol.

@TheReapersSon I did a paper back in college about music censorship and found out that the record company had issues with the lyrics of Slow Motion. Instead of "fixing" the lyrics, Third Eye Blind just released an instrumental version.

Also a quick factoid.. the original chorus (from the demo tracks of the song) was "Slow Motion in the ghetto" (the rest remained the same).

The early release only contained a censored version of Slow Motion (only contained the chorus). later was completely instrumental.
The real version has more lyrics; the first verse goes: "Mrs. Jones taught me english but I think I just shot her son. Cause he owed me money; with a bullet in the chest you cannot run. Now he's bleeding in a vacant lot... the one in the summer where we used to smoke pot. I guess I didn't mean it but man you should have seen it. His chest explode."

This CD on repeat every night.

Yes, it's quite a good album. Just make sure you get the version with the full version of "Slow Motion". The early release of the album featured "Slow Motion" with vocals, as a complete song. Later releases of this album, for whatever reason, featured it as an instrumental. Why they did that I will never know, considering "Slow Motion" is one of their best songs.

Ursa Major is okay, but it really shows that Jenkins just can't write a songs as good as Cadogan could. Some of his lyrics are a bit goofy too; I wonder where he lost his touch? I will say though, that Jenkins will always have the voice that we all know and love!

I just think that with Salazar and Cadogan gone, it's just not the same band anymore that many of us grew up with

the 90's were so AWESOME!! Music meant something back then, ya know?

I miss Kevin Cadogan on guitars, but it's nice they're still playing. You have to admit though, the glory days of this band, with their Self Titled and Blue, were the best!

The Background still remains to this day one of my most favorite songs of all time. :)
