One of the most consistently great songwriting bands ever (12 records worth!), and astonishingly powerful musicians, in the studio and especially live. Nothing like Thin Lizzy at all, in a class by themselves.

when i was growing up kiss was huge , i was more into lizzy, ufo, old scorpions, rush.

Thin Lizzy got rid of the band kiss for a lot of people. We figured out that there were other bands, kick-ass bands. Rush, Tom Petty, Nazareth, Early years of Aerosmith etc......the list is almost endless.

For my money, Gorham's solo is one of the greatest ever laid down.

I’ve always thought Jailbreak as an album is really overrated - it’s not even nearly Thin Lizzy’s best work. But this track absolutely smokes, and definitely ranks among the best songs they ever did.

I know that most Lynott lyrics were inspired through theater movies he watched while growing up, any idea which movie inspired this or any other 'Lizzy songs?

Romeo is allegedly an anagram of "Moore" and the song a dig at former bandmate Gary Moore.

Woodandleather Phil and Gary went back a long way, Gary lived in a house with him when he left Belfast to come to Dublin aged 16, and they were both in Skid Row together for a few months before Brush Shiels fired Phil. Phil went on to form Thin Lizzy, and both groups went to London around the same time. Collaborations, and fallings out happened many times. Underneath it all, there seemed to be a genuine friendship, and certainly Gary Moore was devastated when Phil died so young. Gary often said that Phil moved on every girl he was with, this song may have been a little revenge! I don't think either of them were saints!

Oh how I love to unravel and learn to play & sing 'Lizzy songs; as a songer singwriter, it is very rewarding to me for the feeling it gives, they offer a strong connection to humanity! perhaps someone from this channel could please take the time to post the proper lyrics in "show more" description...(I strongly recommend musicians adopting any Thin Lizzy songs into their
repertiore)

Jailbreak was on constant rotation on cassette in my older sister's car when we were teens. We sang every song loud and proud! Romeo and running Back were my 2 faves with Cowboy right behind them.

First show I ever saw. I was 17 at the Dallas Bad Reputation tour with classic lineup. Stood at the base of the stage between Philip and Scott. Favorite band of all time. Cowboy Song, Emerald, Renegade, Genocide, Chinatown, Hollywood, The Sun Goes Down, Holy War, ....I could name another 75 great songs. Most gifted songwriter in history deserves his due. R.I.P. Phil. Brian In the 80s cassette tape was King and easily available They first started being widely available in the late 70s when I was a baby.
