Thin Lizzy Fool's Gold Comments
  1. t.... l....

Total bullshit that Lizzy weren't inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. Total injustice. The best rock band ever!

  2. C.... D....

" Ό,τι κακό να σου πουν για τον κόσμο, να το πιστέψεις! Κανένας Γιουβενάλης δε θα μπορέσει να περιγράψει πόση φρίκη σκεπάζουν το χρυσάφι και τα διαμαντικά.".

So much real gold!⚜️♻️☑️✅❎⬆️Thank you Irish Great band Thin Lizzy. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🎶🎵☢️☣️⚜️⚠️✖️➕✔️🏁

  4. g.... m....

    I love this track.

  5. S.... C....

These guys were so good , saw them late 70s cleveland ohio with nugent , acdc , journey , aerosmith , scorpions ! They were the best band there , and that was a bunch of great classic rock bands ! What a concert !😁

    S.... C....

    Lucky bastard😉🍀

  6. L.... P....

I love the old school sound.

  7. S.... 2....

    pat benatar should be sued.

  8. C.... 2....

I maintain that this is one of the greatest guitar solos ever. Melodic, Celtic undertones, upbeat tempo, just long enough and ends on a triumphant note. Scott Gorham is one of the very best!

  9. c.... b....

You can keep your Gary Moore's, your Snowy White's and your John Sykes. No one but no one fitted Lizzy's sound quite like Scott and Robbo. Scott's solo here wouldn't have been "technical" enough for Gary and not "metal" enough for John, but I don't care - it was perfect for Thin Lizzy and for their discerning fans. Who remembers a guitar solo shredded style really? Yet this solo is gorgeous and memorable from the first note to the last. A real gem! Thanks for the memories guys.

    c.... b....

chris barlow Can’t stand the shredders, always loved Scott and Brian’s work, different but wonderfully complementary. Magic days, makes me feel sad though.

    c.... b....

@Bob McGee Hi Bob. Lizzy's songs weren't designed for shredders. They were made for melodic soloists like Scott and Robbo. It makes me sad too the way it all ended up. That's stinking drugs and alcohol abuse I'm afraid - but - before the myth of the rock 'n roll lifestyle began to take its toll - these particular guys left us something to lament over yes, but also something to smile at - something to get the adrenalin going like no other band did for me and I will always be grateful to them for that.

  10. c.... b....

And what a drop dead gorgeous little solo from Scott. Exquisite. Lizzy were quite simply in a league of their own.

  11. S.... L....

Who the fuck are U2!😂😂thin Lizzy Ireland finest!

The only rocker to give you a history lesson When Phil told you his stories, you fully believed then. he words get locked into your mind and they will never go away. Could any other band of Gods green earth match the quality of this live song. Thin Lizzy always created enough power on stage to sent a rock to the moon This might man Phil Lynott and all his boys in Thin Lizzy. Phil was the master musician, The WordSmith,The Hero, The Wildman, The Warrier, The Leader, The Story Teller, The Poet, The Man Up Front, The Rocker. The man who told you about the past, the present and the future. I have received some up to date news on Philip Parris "Phil" Lynott the very great man himself. I have heard it from a very reliable source that Phil along with Rory Gallagher, James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix, Robert William Gary Moore, and John Henry Bonham are playing gigs 7 nights a week in the Kingdom Hall and are packing the place out, most nights Jesus is up at the front having a great time rocking out. God had to remind the boys about the 7th day that it should be a day of rest, they are thinking about this but are having so much fun play they are still playing every night. This just one of Lizzy mighty rocking tunes, all the boys of Thin Lizzy were masters at their trade

    t.... r....

From one Roofer to another so true

  28. t.... r....

The hero, the holy man, the wild one, the vagabond, the might Phil Lynott and all his boys in the very great Thin Lizzy band plus their brilliant artist Jim Fitzpatrick. Phil, his boys and their music comes to my mind several times each day and from the very beginning. Phil invaded my mind from the very first and has refused to go away. He has stuck to me like glue and will not let go, if he told me he was going to go away, I would refuse him permission go so it looks like we will be stuck together for the remainder of time and I would not have it any other way. it is my story and i am sticking to it

"hit me with your best fools gold "

  34. J.... K....

The vulture sits on top of the big top circus arena
He's seen this show before knows someone is going to fall
Just near the part where the beautiful dancing tightrope ballerina
Forgets that the safety net isn't there at all

Down he swoops with claws drawn to take her
Razor sharp so savagely is she mauled
Oh my God, is there no one who can save her?
In steps the fox to thunderous applause

    J.... K....

Great recollection but after all these years had to break out scotch tape to put this last verse with the rest of the song. Love Scotts solo, though.

  35. L.... A....

A perfect example of Lynott's mastery of painting a picture with words. A thought-provoking lyricist at his finest.

    L.... A....

not only a picture but a short movie..

  36. M.... D....

Hands down the greatest rock band in music history. True, honest, meaningful and a force of integrity and passion that is unsurpassed. No fancy overblown shows to cover up a lack of talent and creative marksmanship. Phillip Lynott to this day is missed dearly.☘

    M.... D....

Very true. They were very very special

    M.... D....

Spot on!! They were just unique in a wonderful way.

    M.... D....

    Top words🤘

  37. C.... D....

    C.... D....

    T.... ....

    T.... ....

Oh no not this"underated"bullshit again who cares!Lizzy was the best band on the planet no one else comes close. And they where huge in Europe but not so much in the states but again who cares!US is not the world its just one country and nothing else.

    T.... ....

    Without a doubt

    T.... ....

not sure about underrated but this track is typical.an obscure track on a not particularly successful album BUT brilliant track ,story telling ,great harmonies and a couple of mighty lead breaks

  40. J.... M....

    you better believe it haha

  41. L.... R....

The Boys Are Back in Town. Foram as mais famosas: Jailbreak, Emerald, The Boys are Back in Town, Bad Reputation, Whisky in the Jar, Wild One e Dedication.

  42. o.... p....

One of the coolest Bass players. Also hear drummer. And there was Guitar players like Gary Moore!. Snowy White!

  43. o.... p....

I am peanuts. Bassin, drumming, Solos and words. And his voise.

  44. B.... C....

    MASTERPIECE

  45. B.... 6....

Great track! Just started listening to them a few months back.

  46. J.... G....

Yo Arthur that thumping bass and real lead...just majestic!

  47. J.... D....

I love the bass notes Phil uses on the verse. They're not all happy-go-lucky but more dissonant.

  48. T.... L....

I was in the front row with my arm on the stage in those days they called them general admission shows. I t was 1977 at San Francisco Cow palace with Rick Derringer as the warm up. They were fucking awesome with dueling Les Pauls and Phil Lynott on bass and one fantastic front man and singer. A great memory of my teens.

  49. M.... K....

I find this song to be rather average (in comparison to their other songs), except for that guitar solo at 2:09... Honestly it is one of the most melodically creative guitar solos i ever heard, top 10 of all time for sure. 30 seconds of pure perfection.

    M.... K....

Yes ! There's not a player on this earth that could have said more than the major pentatonic majesty of mr Scott Gorham! Finely interwoven phrases and note choice, it dances perfectly around the chord structure ! And the singing vibrato at the end perfect! Was this LP DELUXE? I don't know?

    M.... K....

    +Kevin James right !

  50. A.... F....

Saw them twice in the 70's (Tower Theater) and again in the 80's (Emerald City).Just as good live as the records.Last time Brian Robertson was  replaced by "Snowy" White.

    A.... F....

Not in the US when I saw them.

    A.... F....

I repeat - Brian Robertson was replaced by Gary Moore ( temporarily in 1977 and permanently in 1978).Gary was then himself replaced by Midge Ure for the Black rose tour in 1979.Snowy didn't come into the band until 1980 so it doesn't make sense for you to say that Snowy was Robbo's replacement !

    A.... F....

I SAW him at Emerald City playing in Cherry Hill NJ in 1980.

    A.... F....

I'm very happy for you but for the third and last time,Brian Robertson was NOT replaced by Snowy White ( as you put it in a previous comment )What part of that is so hard for you to understand ? lol

    A.... F....

Arthur F. Scaltrito The mans right Brian Robertson left after the debacle of the drinking incident with Frankie Miller causing him to be glassed which was on the eve of their US tour .the Album That has dancing in the moonlight was his last and he didn’t play on much of this it was Scott Gorham. Brian left to join Wild Horses and Gary Moore stepped in for the US tour due to Robertson’s injury, later Gary joined and played on the Black Rose album ( Roisin Dubh)

  51. s.... ....

The treasure of the Sierra Madre.....

  54. n.... ....

Anyone know what happened to the recording starting at 1:31? It's like this on my CD too. I tried googling it and couldn't find any reason as to why the stereo channels seem to shift from right to left then back, as if it was a worn out part of a cassette tape.

    n.... ....

I bought the MP3 and it's on that too. Sounds like the producer screwed it up. Same thing happens on the studio version of Rosalie!

  55. R.... C....

a true irish legend.. who actually sang about irishness .. Good man Philip !

  56. s.... c....

  70. G.... -....

In steps the fox to thunderous applause..... The man could write some brilliant lines. I've told my wife I would be honoured to have this written on my headstone.
Phil just makes me even more proud to be a Dubliner. God bless his music, it will never grow old.

  71. J.... B....

Phil's voice is like a drug. It mesmerizes and chills you out, while somehow at the same time, firing you up for a night out with the boys. RIP Phil, One of the greatest to ever be taken from us.

  72. D.... ....

No band, group or artist have the talent to make music like thin lizzy these days. Its simply an understandable fact :) R.I.P Phil Lynott. Thin Lizzy lives forever.

  73. c.... o....

Eireann go brea, you could have even searched how to spell that properly on the internet!!

  74. b.... b....

just magic the greatest ever eirn go bragh

  75. R.... K....

Jim Fitzpatrick was the artist, he worked closely with Philo on a lot of their album covers, even the compilations.

  76. D.... ....

well Beiber is pop music for little kids. i wouldn't want little girls who are dumb enough to shave their heads when they see a hacked twitter update from beiber saying he has cancer, walking around listening to Thin Lizzy because i doubt they would get it, you know?

  77. k.... b....

He calls for wine but they'll only serve him water, The bartender says we don't serve sympathy. What awesome lyrics. More like poetry. \m/ \m/

  78. k.... b....

Your right. I never noticed it before. Good call. \m/ \m/

  79. h.... ....

    listen to this song

  80. p.... b....

So beutiful.....i can cry when i her this song.

  81. T.... ....

I think Pat Benatar might've borrowed that chord progression for "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" a few years later.

  82. T.... E....

In the late 70's i was into a lot of guitar bands but this one was the greatest. God how I miss them.

  83. S.... ....

The most underrated rock band of all times but that is also part of their magic, a band so fucking good but who havent gone commercial

  84. s.... w....

This man could write a lyric, this song like so many others captures you with not just the music but the story phil weaves as well.Another favourite line of mine is..."i'd like to make that froline mine...mine froline"....How the germans would say it.I still listen to THIN LIZZY or phil's solo albums everyday.R.I.P. PHILIP PARIS LYNOTT

  85. l.... ....

Cool and controlled. I can't say that for 99% of bands out there past and present.

  86. j.... ....

Nice--Scott's solo perfect on this one-- Lizzy could pour on at will.

  87. W.... ....

Lizzy always makes me feel chemically better, weird

  88. g.... l....

i dont understand what the last verse is about? can anyone explain? cheers!!!

  89. j.... ....

as the moose drool called music in today's world keeps going backwards this stuff just keeps gettin better to me. excellent musicianship, superb vocals and great lyrics. what a concept.

  90. M.... S....

thanks for posting this i havent heard this in a long long time

  91. M.... S....

@dibbydog ya know , i have always had a weird interpretation of this lyric ,and i'll just share it for what its worth...what is good for you {the vulture, with sharp claws} - is seemingly bad -
whilst the "hero' fox ...is just an oppurtunist , stealing the vultures thunder, a devil in disguise
...both are 'preying ' on a fair maiden .Anyway , i know thats not what phil meant - but thats what i always thought ....rock on lizzy !

  92. M.... S....

@BWPGuy why ? What do you think its about ?

  93. s.... ....

Oh. My god is there no one who can save her, in steps the fox to thunderous applause. Magic, pure class. Love this song. Cheers!! Still loving and playing them after first seeing them live when i was 16, 35 years ago!

  94. M.... M....

    Greatness

  95. M.... D....

I wish Phil would come back from the dead and bash Pitbulls head in with his guitar.

  96. M.... M....

This IS and always will be my fav Lizzy tune...the meaning behind it is often mis-understood.

  97. S.... ....

@onetentwenty The best band to come out of Ireland for sure

  98. M.... S....

brian robertson & scott gorham should be proud of themselves today.
